Brewing the cure for the T-Virus is a pretty big deal in Resident Evil 3 Remake’s vaccine puzzle, you know, considering the state Raccoon City is in right now. While it’s fun to explore Nest 2, there’s a rather important job that needs doing. You certainly don’t need a Chemistry degree to craft the vaccine, but there is a conundrum to solve.

The clinical labs may be populated with stumbling zombies, and there are a few interesting tidbits of story to uncover, but let’s focus on achieving the perfect blend of adjuvant and antigen samples. Sounds delicious, right? Where to find the Resident Evil 3 Adjuvant Sample

Before mixing up the lifesaving vaccine ensure you’ve collected the Override Key flash drive as this grants you access to all rooms in the NEST 2 facility. You can pick this up from the terminal in front of the big glass window in the large unnamed lab room on 2F. Now let’s find that Adjuvant Sample:

  • Locate the Security-Locked Door on 1F and use the Override Key to enter the room. There are several enemies to handle before collecting a Green Herb, ammo, Explosive A compound and a Shipping Notice.
  • Walk past the sealed bags hanging from the ceiling and through the door at the back of the room. Scour the room for items then head down the stairs.
  • Push the middle (red) canister into place so that it glows blue and opens the door behind you.
  • Cross the room with the pods and take the elevator up a floor.
  • Make your way along the metal walkway to the Incubation Room (2F) at the end to find more items.
  • Open the drawer with the green light on it to find the Adjuvant Sample.

Where to find the Resident Evil 3 Antigen Sample

Starting in the Incubation Room (2F), let’s get your hands on the Antigen Sample:

  • Exit the room and retrace your steps back to the room with the hanging sealed bags on 1F. This time, head upstairs and through the door to Lab 1 (2F).
  • Interact with the Umbrella Corporation terminal to acquire the Culture Sample, which upon further inspection, is the Antigen Sample you’ve been searching for.

To begin cooking up a vaccine, retrace your steps once more to the large unnamed lab room on 2F—where you found the flash drive—and interact with vaccine equipment to begin the temperature control process.

How to make the vaccine

Both the Antigen and Adjuvant samples are in your inventory but there’s only one slot in the machine. Combine the two vials to create the Vaccine Base and insert it into the machine. To complete the process, you need to adjust the temperature across three control settings: A, B and C.

While numerical temperatures are displayed on the panel, there’s little reason to pay much attention to them as I’ve helped you out with the hard work. To keep things simple focus on the words on the panel and work from left to right.

Resident Evil 3 is a Relentless Remake That Keeps Survival Horror Front and Centre

Raccoon City is an absolute mess. Fire rages in all corners, zombies have taken over the streets, and there’s a big lad called Nemesis roaming about on a single-minded mission to crush your head with his gigantic, pallid fist. Welcome back to Resident Evil 3, Capcom’s inevitable remake of the 1999 survival horror classic that marked a gradual shift towards a more action-oriented approach for the series. It added a handy dodge move so you could evade zombie attacks with deft timing, and made ammo slightly less scarce than it was in Resident Evil and RE2.

For the Resident Evil 3 remake, Capcom has preserved the dodge manoeuvre – executed with a jab of the RB button – while upping the ante in terms of challenge with miserly quantities of ammunition, zombies that can take a lot of bullets to topple, and (based on 90 minutes of hands-on experience with the game) an unrelenting sense of tension that’s only exacerbated by the constant looming presence of the 10-foot tall leather-trenchcoated menace. Given a grisly makeover, the Nemesis is a fearsome foe, stopping at nothing to mash you into the ground.

Like Tyrant in the Resident Evil 2 remake, Nemesis is a persistent threat that can seemingly appear out of nowhere, at the most inopportune of moments. During a relatively short session with the game, we had about four or five encounters with the grotesque lunk, one of which was an underpants-soiling affair (not literally, honest) as he burst through a wall during a rare instance of apparent calm. Pursued by Nemesis, Jill Valentine jogs at an all-too-leisurely pace, which only ratchets up the feeling of panic as he closes in, wrapping tentacles around your ankles to trip you over and reel you in. Clearly, Jill needs to work on her cardio.

Jill is slow, but it’s not her fault that we somehow managed to miss vital items that made progress through our RE3 demo that much harder. A visit to a fiendish maze/hive (where Jill must throw transformer switches to bring power back online), inhabited by voracious Brain Suckers, proved especially taxing without an inventory-expanding hip pouch, which would have given us the extra space required to store valuable healing items. And when you’re racing against time to nab a green herb to expunge a poisonous insectoid egg from your belly, it’s not ideal. It should go without saying that keeping your eyes peeled for ammo and other helpful resources is of paramount importance in RE3.

Nemesis, with his expanded arsenal – now including a flamethrower, in addition to his standard rocket launcher – is, of course, but one beastie you’ll have trouble with in RE3. Slug-like Hunter Gammas slither out of waste pipes in the sewers before trudging menacingly towards you, their hideous maws wide open, glistening with mucus. The level of detail in both RE3’s environments and its creatures is remarkable, but it’s the unyielding pressure that puts your heart right in your mouth, especially when you’re grasping for a single, priceless bullet that could get you out of a jam.

Don’t go thinking that the dodge is a surefire way to squeeze your way out of a desperate situation either. It’s helpful and ensures the remake is faithful to the original game, but it hardly levels the playing field, even if it does prove valuable when you’re trying to evade the unstoppable advance of the Nemesis and his ferocious haymaker. Run through the donut shop, and Nemesis will follow you. Shoot a sparking fuse box or a red fuel drum and you’ll slow him down briefly, but he’ll keep on coming. He can’t be bargained with. He can’t be reasoned with. He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Attempting to battle Nemesis will only result in wasted ammo, so the best course of action is to turn heel and run for it. There’s little to be gained from pumping perfectly good shotgun shells into his mush, especially since you’ll need to hoard every scrap you possibly can. Clearly, Capcom has resisted leaning in to Resident Evil 3’s slight action bent, instead capitalising on what made the Resident Evil 2 remake such a roaring success, favouring resource management, nerve-shredding tension and seat-of-your-pants survival horror thrills over Resident Evil 6-style excess.

Much like Resident Evil 2, RE3 is a remake that looks profoundly good, thanks to the RE Engine (you almost wish that Capcom would remake all of its games in this way, and your mind can’t help but go off on a flight of fancy, imagining how mind-blowing a Dino Crisis remake could be). For now, Resident Evil 3 looks more than capable of fitting the bill where stellar remakes are concerned, offering another total revamp that promises to have more than a few surprises up its tattered zombie sleeve.

Lots of people lately have suggested that Nintendo’s newest Animal Crossing game is the perfect diversion to sweetly wile away our time in these quarantined, COVID-19 days. In that light, then, Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 3 might be considered the worst.

After all, it starts with reporters fearfully warning the public of a pandemic that’s spreading throughout the world faster than any other. Of course, in this case, we’re not dealing with face mask-clad folks ambling about anxiously in the local supermarket. No, the Resident Evil pandemic turns its victims into actual zombies!

The original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis arrived in 1999 and changed things up quite a bit for the series. It streamlined the man-made zombie apocalypse scenario into something more focused and action-oriented, setting the tone for future franchise games and movies. And this new version certainly reimagines that action-focused tale with all the current-gen game-mechanics and graphic reality it can muster.

A Hero’s Painful Tale

Jill Valentine, the game’s Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) protagonist, finds herself holed up in a Racoon City apartment when the game begins. She’s trying to figure out how this zombie plague began and who to blame for the horror raging in the streets. Of course, as anyone familiar with Resident Evil games will know, the clues point to Umbrella Corp: the leading brand in all things evil.

Jill’s short-lived moment of contemplation, however, is just a brief intro to the situation at hand before a massive monstrosity of stacked-up humanoid muscle and nearly indestructible flesh comes smashing through her bedroom wall and bashes her around like a ragdoll. The creature—later revealed to be a purposely created bioweapon called the Nemesis—is laser-focused on eliminating any and all remaining S.T.A.R.S. officers. And Jill remains in its ever-rampaging and ever-mutating crosshairs throughout the game.

There’s not a lot of time, then, for mystery or puzzle-solving in this RE entry. Jill just has to keep moving as she tries to rescue survivors and, if possible, to find some form of cure while fending off zombie hordes along the way.

And other than meeting another trustworthy military type named Carlos—a guy gamers play in a couple sequences—it’s all Jill and her constant bloody battle.

And Her Gory Story

Indeed, this is a gory, goopy, explosive and flesh-shredding game. And all of that bloody detail isn’t just some peripheral aspect of play, either: It’s the star of the show. Jill may be grabbing whatever weapons she can find to blast away at zombies and other grotesque creatures, but it’s the photorealistic disemboweled organs and the many examples of mutilated human anatomy that are given center stage here.

And the creatures on hand aren’t simple target practice dummies, either. They keep coming and coming. Even after Jill shoots them down—popping open their heads, ripping out a lung or splattering off a jaw bone in flamboyant, body-horror ways—they just keep staggering back up for more. Other horrific, mutated creatures comprised of razor teeth, grizzled flesh and peculiar plant life spew gore, offal and seemingly molten gunk all over the world Jill (and you, of course) wades through.

That’s not even taking into account the rancid mess that the agile Nemesis creates as it terrorizes Jill and continues to morph into increasingly nasty, ever-more mutated versions of itself, all while gutting, impaling and pureeing anything in its path. By the time Jill faces off in the final boss battle with this now gigantic creature, the huge room they’re in ends up covered in a thick coat of meat-grinder flesh pulp.

Some have called this game “visually stunning,” and I would grudgingly have to agree. But that doesn’t make it easy to stomach. Add in a constant spew of f-words, nasty crudities and misuses of God’s name, and you’ve got a game that’s frightening, foul and fevered. In other words, perhaps not the healthiest content combo for anyone in this moment (or any other) of self-isolation.

Resident Evil 3’s new emergency dodge system keeps your reflexes sharp

Jill Valentine’s emergency dodging reflexes get revamped for the new remake, making for some strategic and action-packed gameplay

Emergency dodging returns in the new Resident Evil 3 remake, adding more heart-pumping anxiety to every encounter.

Resident Evil 3 will be a lot harder than the RE2 REmake; enemies are much more dangerous, there’s lots of areas to get stuck in, and Nemesis makes Tyrant look like a baby. Luckily Jill Valentine has some serious skills at her disposal to strategically avoid and dispatch foes.

The main ability is emergency dodging, an evasion mechanic from the original game that’s been massively overhauled. Jill can perform a quick and nimble over-the-shoulder roll out of harm’s way by pressing R1 and the directional stick. The original game just saw you shove an enemy to avoid its grip.

There’s also a new perfect dodge counter mechanic where you press X right before an undead horror grabs you. Jill not only dodges the enemy’s clutches but swivels around with slow-mo aiming to give you prime opportunities to headshot those zombies. Or to blast a few rounds into nearby red barrels and create explosive death traps.

Everything has to be timed just right, though, and you can’t just rely on raw nerve to survive. Gamers have to watch where they actually roll and make sure they don’t evade right into a horde of brain-eating terrors. I can see myself dodging into an entire group of marauding ghouls in an attempt to avoid one enemy, or rolling into a corner by accident and getting caught in a claustrophobic area.

Emergency dodging adds a new thrill to the experience that keeps your reflexes razor-sharp. and from the looks of things you’re going to need all the help you can get. This time around Nemesis will sprint, jump, and constantly crash through environments to wreck your day.

Resident Evil 3 releases on April 3, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game comes with a free copy of Resident Evil: Resistance, a new 4v1 competitive online mode.

Resident Evil 3 Remake New Game Plus, difficulty settings, game length and more

Resident Evil 3 Remake fans, here is something for you today. Some new details have emerged from various Resident Evil 3 Remake interviews. In an interview with GamingBolt, Resident Evil 3 producer Peter Fabiano talked about Nemesis. In terms of visual design, the art director Yonghee Cho wanted to make Nemesis fit naturally in the re-imagined and photo-realistic Raccoon City.

Gameplay-wise they wanted players to feel that they are constantly being pursued by the Nemesis. Hence the name The Pursuer and that’s why he is so agile in his movements. Which he very much is, since I had a taste myself. Fortunately, the dodge mechanic works quite well on him.

In another interview with GameInformer, Fabiano talked about the combat knife in Resident Evil 3 Remake. According to him the knife is now inexhaustible, meaning you can use it without any fear of breaking, or some other nonsense.

A game that is all about survival horror and with all the resources being limited, you need something that you can always rely on. So basically, if you are one of these players, who likes his knife-only runs of the game, well..you are in luck.

Lastly, according to a ResetEra post, the demo has been data-mined and many new details have been unveiled. I will only mention a couple of them, because many of these may contain spoilers.

The game will feature four difficulty levels: Assisted, Normal, Hard and Super Hard. There is also New Game Plus that supposedly changes up several things in the campaign.

Lastly, the game will last around 5 hours according to some leaks.

Resident Evil 3 remake: Where to find every weapon part upgrade

Last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake allowed players to even the odds against the varied monstrous threats they encountered by equipping them with a number of different firearms and other weaponry. These firearms, while handy in their base form, could also be enhanced by finding a series of optional weapon parts, and that same system of finding and upgrading guns lives on in the much newer Resident Evil 3 remake.

In the below guide, we’ve catalogued every Resident Evil 3 weapon that can be upgraded using weapon parts and, more importantly, where players can find those parts. The parts can only be obtained during specific segments of the story campaign so if you want to find them all in a single go, you’ll definitely want to know ahead of time where each individual part is.

G19 Handgun

There are three different upgrades you can find for Jill’s default G19 handgun: the Red Dot Sight, the Extended Magazine, and the Moderator. All three must be obtained before Jill heads down to the sewers after restoring power to the subway.

Red Dot Sight – One of the very first puzzles you can solve during your Resident Evil 3 playthrough is figuring out the combination for the safe that’s in the second floor warehouse room near the Kite Brothers Railway building. We’ve listed the correct combination over in our puzzle solutions guide, but if you want to figure it out for yourself, you’ll find the solution over in the nearby pharmacy. The Red Dot Sight is your reward for successfully opening the safe.

Extended Magazine – To claim the Extended Magazine weapon part, you’ll need to tussle with your old pal Nemesis for a bit. While Nemesis is technically unkillable during the numerous times he chases Jill throughout the game, you can at least temporarily stun him by hitting him with sustained gunfire or big bursts of damage from an explosion or electric charge. If you manage to stun Nemesis multiple times during specific encounters, he’ll drop supply cases which contain the G19’s latter two upgrades.

To find the Extended Magazine upgrade, you’ll need to stun Nemesis a few times during the encounter immediately after restoring power to the Downtown substation. If you don’t have a lot of ammo to spare, try using a grenade if you have one or lure Nemesis over to the electric generator you can shoot to zap him.

Moderator – After you successfully solve the subway route puzzle in the Kite Brothers Railway building, you’ll encounter Nemesis again right outside Moon’s Donuts where he’ll be infecting standard zombies with a weird head parasite. Again, as with the Extended Magazine upgrade, stunning him should get him to drop a second supply case which contains the G19’s Moderator weapon part. If there are any red explosive barrels nearby, they can help you bring the big guy down while also conserving ammo.

M3 Shotgun

Jill’s M3 shotgun can also be upgraded with three different weapon parts: the Tactical Stock, Semi-Auto Barrel, and Shell Holder. These three parts are a bit more spread out across the entire story campaign than the G19’s parts, and in fact you won’t find the final part until you’re approaching the campaign’s final act.

Tactical Stock – During the opening Downtown act of the campaign, there’s an optional puzzle you can solve involving the Kite Bros. Monument down in the subway station. Solving the puzzle involves finding three separate gems hidden throughout the Downtown area and returning them to the monument. You’ll get a reward for each gem you return, and if you manage to return at least two of the gems your reward will be the Tactical Stock weapon part. The above puzzle solutions guide explains where to find all three gems.

Semi-Auto Barrel – After exiting the sewers and fighting Nemesis up on the rooftop, you’ll get to visit a familiar location from the Resident Evil 2 remake: Kendo’s Gun Shop. There are a number of items you can loot from the shop’s shelves, including the shotgun’s Semi-Auto Barrel weapon part.

Shell Holder – The final segment of Resident Evil 3’s story campaign involves heading down into the Spencer Memorial Hospital’s basement as Jill and using an elevator to travel down into the NEST 2 lab. The first thing you’ll have to do after entering NEST 2 is explore a massive underground warehouse so you can find a series of fuses to restore power to the lab’s command center lift.

As you’re exploring the warehouse, you’ll eventually reach a shortcut back to the lab’s initial save room near a staircase after fighting some zombie dogs. There’s also a switch by the staircase that lowers a nearby lift, and in a dark corner near the lift is a case containing the Shell Holder weapon part.

CQBR Assault Rifle

Both Jill and Carlos have their own CQBR assault rifles if you’re playing on the easier Assisted difficulty level, but if you’re playing on the Standard difficulty or higher it will be a Carlos-exclusive weapon. No matter who has access to it, the CQBR can also be upgraded with three different weapon parts: an AR Scope, Tactical Grip, and Dual Magazines.

AR Scope – The AR Scope weapon part is found in the Raccoon City Police Department, specifically in the West Office on the first floor. To get it, make sure you kill zombie Brad Vickers shortly after arriving at the station to get his S.T.A.R.S. ID Card. You can use the card to open a number of specially locked cases throughout the station, including the case containing the AR Scope in the West Office.

Tactical Grip – After reaching the second floor of the hospital, you can access the central courtyard by hopping out of one of two different broken windows. The courtyard contains a few items you can snag along with a case housing the Tactical Grip weapon part.

Dual Magazines – You’ll find the Dual Magazines weapon part in a safe in the Nurse’s Station on the hospital’s second floor. Again, as with the G19’s Red Dot Sight part, we listed the safe’s combination in our above linked puzzle solutions guide. If you want to find the safe combination for yourself, you’ll need to first gain access to the first floor Surgery Room by obtaining the Hospital ID Card in the second floor Staff Room. A note in the Surgery Room contains the combination.

Also, one thing to note: make sure you open the safe and grab the Dual Magazines part as Carlos. If you try to open the safe later on after you’ve switched back to Jill, it will already be open and empty. This actually makes sense considering the hospital is the last time you play as Carlos and thus you won’t have access to the CQBR assault rifle for the rest of the game after switching back to Jill (assuming you’re playing on Standard difficulty or higher).

.44 AE Lightning Hawk Magnum

If you take the time to explore the hospital as Jill and find the .44 AE Lightning Hawk magnum, you can also find a single weapon part upgrade for it: the Extended Magazine.

Extended Magazine – After finding all the fuses in the NEST 2 Lab underground storage warehouse and taking the lift up to the central command room, look behind the main row of computers near the big window looking out onto the warehouse. Over in the right-hand corner on the floor is a case holding the Extended Magazine weapon part.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Got Torched by Haters – But Capcom Got the Last Laugh

  • Disgruntled players criticize its short length and cut content.
  • Despite this, the game shipped over 2 million copies in five days.

Resident Evil 3 Remake shipped a staggering 2 million copies within five days of its release. That’s remarkable, especially considering the game’s negative reception and keyboard army of haters.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Is Surprisingly Controversial

Resident Evil 3 Remake came as no surprise, considering last year’s fantastic remake of RE2. Only that remake featured a lengthy campaign and a healthy amount of replayability. Not to mention the terrifying, unpredictable encounters with Mr. X.

Conversely, Resident Evil 3 Remake’s Nemesis was often scripted, the game was inexplicably missing locations, and some story decisions were cut entirely, among other issues.

This is partly thanks to the game overlapping with Resident Evil 2 Remake’s development. It feels like an extension of the second title, rather than its own fleshed-out experience.

While this lack of content definitely matters to hardcore fans, it apparently didn’t affect sales much. Keep in mind the 2 million sales came within five days after release. That number is only going to spiral higher.

Comparatively, Resident Evil 2 Remake recently hit 6.5 million units shipped. That game released in January of last year.

Resident Evil Overload?

Capcom doesn’t intend to put this cash-cow out to pasture anytime soon. We’re looking at a Resident Evil 4 remake next, with a tentative release date of 2022.

This two-year delay could give the franchise room to breathe, with the last two remakes releasing back to back.

Or it could leave room for Resident Evil 8 to launch on next-generation consoles. After all, any rumors surrounding the next Resident Evil game hint at an early 2021 release date. This is around the date next-generation consoles should release.

Fan consensus hopes for Resident Evil 8 before another remake. After all, Resident Evil 4 is already available on every current-gen platform. Many still herald the game as a masterpiece and don’t believe it needs a remake just yet.

Resident Evil 3 remake revealed, comes April 3rd

This time, the wait is much shorter

After a short time in the rumor mill, Capcom has officially announced the remake for Resident Evil 3. Not only is the remake coming very soon, next Spring but it will come bundled with the co-op spin-off Resident Evil Resistance.

Announced just moments ago during today’s State of Play live stream, fans of classic survival-horror can look forward to more spooky goodness come early next year. It marks the second time Capcom is giving one of their genre-defining classics a massive remake treatment. Early this year, the long-awaited Resident Evil 2 Remake finally came out after years of wait and went on to become one of the most popular games of the year. With Resident Evil 3 getting a remake so soon, it makes sense that the Japanese developer was co-developing both remakes.

On the heels of the award-winning Resident Evil 2, this highly demanded follow-up in the 94 million unit selling franchise once again utilizes Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to complete the Raccoon City story arc. Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine–one of video games’ most iconic heroines–as she escapes from a crumbling Raccoon City while being pursued by the unrelenting bioweapon Nemesis. Players can also participate in previously untold Umbrella experiments on the outskirts of Raccoon City in the included online asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil: Resistance, previously known as the working title Project Resistance.

Just one week ago, first images about a possible RE3 remake surfaced online through the PlayStation Store and we suspected the game to be unveiled soon. We’re hoping that Capcom manages to deliver yet again a remarkable re-visioning of an iconic classic while still staying true to its survival-horror roots. Signs are positive.

But the surprises don’t end here. The Resident Evil 3 remake will also include Resident Evil Resistance, the recently announced asymmetrical co-op survival-shooter. The game didn’t get a warm reception from fans so it’s nice to see it being given a better chance by being bundled into the remake.

RE3 remake will come out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 3rd, 2020.
