Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Explains Why There’s No Character Gender Option Anymore

Here’s why the developers changed the gender option.

Posted Aug. 29, 2019, 7:32 a.m.

CD Projekt Red is doing away with traditional character gender options in Cyberpunk 2077 to keep with the cyberpunk ethos of the genre. The developers confirmed the latest development in a new interview.

Metro caught up with CD Projekt Red senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers to talk more about the world building in Cyberpunk 2077, and how that manifests in the gameplay. Specifically, Metro asked about gender in Cyberpunk 2077, an area that CD Projekt Red received criticism for in the past.

Jonkers said the developers are working to make Cyberpunk 2077 “really inclusive.” This resulted in gameplay design choices like an expanded character customization menu.

“[O]ur character creation menu, for instance, compared to the last demo we now give you so many more options,” Jonkers said. “For instance, you don’t choose your gender anymore. You don’t choose, ‘I want to be a female or male character’ you now choose a body type. Because we want you to feel free to create any character you want.”

CD Projekt Red already revealed that character customization will feature prominently into Cyberpunk 2077, but the developers are opting out of strict binaries for things like gender. Instead players can choose a body type and two voice options, “one that’s male sounding, one is female sounding. You can mix and match. You can just connect them any you want.”

Players will be able to further customize their characters with tattoos, hairstyles, and skin tones.

At E3, some fans wondered how CD Projekt Red would approach gender in Cyberpunk 2077, especially after an in-game ad prominently featured a transgender character. There was also the matter of CD Projekt Red’s history, where the company previously apologizes for making jokes aimed at the transgender community.

However, Jonkers says that the CD Projekt Red development team is very diverse and asks for feedback when it comes to creative decisions such as these. “We always ask for feedback and even when we show these demos, we still ask people to tell us what they think.” A practice CD Projekt Red has kept since the development of The Witcher 3.

The studio announced at Gamescom that Cyberpunk 2077 will be coming to Google Stadia and talked about potential multiplayer modes coming to the game. All the while the developers shared over 100 Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots.

CD Projekt Red is planning a new gameplay reveal for Cyberpunk 2077 at PAX West in a couple days, so check back at IGN for all the latest Cyberpunk 2077 details.

Cyberpunk 2077 will let you choose your character’s gender and appearance too

By now it’s likely that almost everyone with even a passing interest in role-playing games (RPGs for short) knows about Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming video game by renowned Polish studio CD Projekt Red.

CD Projekt recently released an E3 trailer, giving us an idea of what to expect from Cyberpunk 2077, which does not yet have a release date. At least this trailer contains a hidden message (which was translated by gaming website Polygon), disproving the recent rumour that the game will be featuring microtransactions (“In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?” says CD Projekt in the hidden message).

Much to the dismay of fans though, CD Projekt also failed to reveal a release date simply stating that the game will be released “when it’s ready”, something which at least guarantees Cyberpunk 2077 will have a measure of quality when it ships sometime in the future.

Also interesting is the fact that players won’t be taking control of a set character in Cyberpunk 2077, but will be able to choose the protagonist’s gender too. This will likely be a breath of fresh air for those who couldn’t get into CD Projekt’s earlier game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt due to not being able to identify with protagonist Geralt of Rivia.

Mind you, Geralt was a great character in the 2015 game, but perhaps his macho attitude and overall demeanour made him hard to connect with for some. It’s a good thing then, that those who wish to will be able to play as a female character in Cyberpunk 2077, and as is usual these days you’ll also be able to alter your character’s appearance (face shape and hair for instance), plus most certainly you’ll get to choose clothing and any tattoos for your character as well.

Hopefully then, Cyberpunk 2077 will turn out to be another grand RPG like The Witcher games when it’s released in the future. After all, few developers know how make this kind of game better than CD Projekt does, so it’s clear many RPG fans will be waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 with bated breath for sure.

New Cyberpunk 2077 Gender Customisation Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED has expanded on the upcoming sci-fi game’s gender customisation options, with the game’s level designer, Max Pears, revealing NPCs in Cyberpunk 2077 will refer to your character by their name, V, as opposed to gender. It’s all part of CD Projekt RED’s effort to make the highly anticipated title as inclusive as possible for audiences.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gender Customisation Details

Speaking with Video Games Chronicle at TGS 2019 this week, Pears said that Cyberpunk 2077 will depict fully nude sex scenes, and that players will be able to mix and match gender voices and body types for their character.

Here’s what Pears had to say on the subject:

We really want to make sure players get the representation that they want. In the genre of Cyberpunk as well, it asks such deep questions about what it means to be human, let alone what it means to define your gender. Having that customisation match how you feel is your representation of how you feel… it’s important for us and it’s important to the lore of this world too.

One of the things we’ve done to make sure the game addresses things a certain way is a lot of the time NPCs are just going to refer to you as ‘V’, because you won’t be able to choose your name.

That way it helps people know that it’s their character that’s being spoken to and also however you’ve envisioned your V, that’s still your V. That’s been our focus: your version of V is your version as the player and that’s how you will be addressed in the game.

CD Projekt RED recently confirmed that it will release a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077 post-launch as part of its free DLC plans. Furthermore, the studio said that nearly all cutscenes in the game will be displayed in first-person view.

Bandai Namco Games will publish Cyberpunk 2077 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 Lets You Customize Your Genitals

Share

Cyberpunk 2077 promises to bring a whole new level of customization that will probably find players spending more time on the character-creation screen.

The upcoming offering from CD Projekt Red was unsurprisingly rated M for mature by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) due to excessive nudity and sexual content. However, the accompanying description reveals something else of interest that goes beyond previous expectations. While creating a character at the start, Cyberpunk 2077 will allow players to customize their genitals as well in a number of ways.

That covers the size and combination of genitals, and perhaps more. Whether there will be an opportunity for players to pay homage to Total Recall with a three-breasted character remains to be seen. In either case, the ESRB rating confirms that Cyberpunk 2077 will no longer have binary gender options and instead feature a gender neutral protagonist V where players can swap between what defines a hard line male or female.

The game contains nudity and sexual material: Players can select a gender and customize their character; customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.

It has been quite a while since CD Projekt Red revealed something new for Cyberpunk 2077. The developer has now committed to offer another look at the game on June 11. There are already speculations that CD Projekt Red will be detailing some of the post-release content in the works that are presumed to be similar to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in terms of quality. Do note that CD Projekt Red has already ascertained that add-ons for Cyberpunk 2077 will be revealed ahead of the launch. Hence, why next month should drop more details about additional content.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 17, 2020. The game was previously tagged to release within this month but was then delayed for additional development time. However, that was in the past and there will be no further delays.

The release will also accompany GeForce Now, the new cloud gaming platform of Nvidia, on the very first day. CD Projekt Red is making sure that players interested in streaming the shadowy alleyways of Night City are not ignored.

Gender Fluid Character Selection To Be Featured In Highly Anticipated ‘Cyberpunk 2077’

Developer CD Projekt Red announced “gender fluidity” will be incorporated into Cyberpunk 2077’s character creator.

Co-founder Marcin Iwinski revealed more details about the controversial move in an interview with Newsweek. He explained the “binary male/female choice” that was on display at E3 2019 was not completely representative of the final product.

“This is not final and actually we’ll enable that. There will be full fluidity and on top of that you’ll be able to choose the male or female voice. Whatever you please.”

Some fans expressed their concerns over the company’s decision to kowtow to SJW culture:

Get woke go broke, cancels pre-order

IBT reports CD Projekt Red is not afraid of criticism like this and that they value the feedback from fans whether it be positive or negative. However, he hopes that players are willing to experience the story for themselves before dismissing the game completely or putting labels on it, and its creators.

“People draw conclusions after one tweet, one article, anything out there,” Iwinski said. “For our games, experience them. Give them a go. Then you can express your opinion, not base your opinion on a few tiny little details. It is a huge living, breathing world and there are a lot of reasons for the things that are in there, and the things that are not in there.”

He added it would be a major disservice to the genre to exclude transgenderism, considering its theme is based around cyberpunk culture and trans-humanism.

Science fiction author Danny Lore seems to think the popular video game developer isn’t doing enough.

“Dealing with it via character creator is messy if that’s the main conceit. A world with true gender fluidity is more than just what a character looks like.”

Lore explained the ideal character creator wouldn’t include male and female options at all; instead, it would allow players to sculpt their characters’ bodies “however they pleased.” Additionally, Lore demanded players should be able to choose their “preferred pronouns” and the game’s inhabitants (NPCs) should react to them according to their choice.

Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Has ‘Looked At’ Including Non-Binary Characters

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED discusses the possibility of including gender fluid and non-binary characters in the game. The developer also confirms that it is something it has “looked at” doing.

CD Projekt RED has previously confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will include a female protagonist option in addition to male characters.

Will Cyberpunk 2077 Allow Players to Make Gender Fluid and Non-Binary Characters?

In an interview at E3 2018, Waypoint asked Cyberpunk 2077 quest designer Patrick Mills whether the game would feature gender fluid or non-binary characters. Mills responded, saying that “it’s too early to say,” though “it’s definitely something we’ve looked at.”

With Cyberpunk 2077 being set in the future it would seem unusual if, by the year of 2077, the population had yet to fully embrace the idea of gender fluidity and identifying as non-binary. The game also features body augmentations as players can use technology to enhance themselves and with that in mind, it would be odd if people hadn’t also come around the idea of living outside of the gender binary. How does a world where cybernetics are accepted but gender fluidity aren’t, make sense?

There’s also the fact that CD Projekt RED’s game will feature lesbian, gay, and bisexual characters. The developer confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature same-sex romances but many would be disappointed if LGB characters are represented but those who identify as ‘T’ are not.

Though, with this all said, CD Projekt RED may be unwilling to confirm gender fluid and non-binary characters in its game because it needs to take the proper steps towards inclusion. Sports RPG Pyre found itself facing transphobia concerns over the way it had initially implemented non-binary characters, leading developer SuperGiant Games to make changes before launch. Mass Effect: Andromeda also came under fire over dialogue with a transgender NPC, which again led to the developer (BioWare) to issue an update.

More positive representations of trans and non-binary characters in games include The Sims 4‘s gender update, which was created in cooperation with (LGBTQ advocacy group) GLAAD. Recent release BattleTech was also praised for its quiet inclusion of they/them pronouns. If Cyberpunk 2077 also offers representation on that front, CD Projekt RED will want to get it right, so watch this space for more information.

Cyberpunk 2077 lets you choose body type, not gender

Posted August 30, 2019

Cyberpunk 2077 ‘s character creation will contain a feature that makes the game a bit more inclusive. Borrowing from Cyberpunk’s themes of fluid identities and advancing beyond modern concepts of sexuality and gender, players can choose a body type for their character at character creation, but not a gender label.

In an interview with Metro’s GameCentral, CD Projekt Red senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers stated that this was an effort to make the game more inclusive. The studio has had some difficulties respectfully depicting a society in which gender and sexuality have become commodified. However, the studio believes that a part of opening the game up to more people is to simply remove the binary gender option.

“Our character creation menu, for instance, compared to the last demo we now give you so many more options,” said Jonkers. “For instance, you don’t choose your gender anymore. You don’t choose, ‘I want to be a female or male character’ you now choose a body type. Because we want you to feel free to create any character you want. So you choose your body type and we have two voices, one that’s male sounding, one is female sounding. You can mix and match. You can just connect them any way you want.”

Cyberpunk 2077’s world is a setting in which body modifications are commonplace. People no longer need to conform to gender norms, and can customise their body how they like. According to Kasia Redesiuk, the artist behind the controversial “Mix it Up” poster, this was the intended message. In an interview with Polygon, Redesiuk states that “In 2077, especially with how much body modifications are available, I think people just mix and match however they want, however they feel”.

This theme of fluid identies will also be reflected in Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay, in which the player can change classes at will. Adding in the fact that there will be “beyond heterosexual” romance options available, Cyberpunk 2077 could turn out to be quite the inclusive game. There is still a lot we don’t know yet about its story or just how Keanu Reeves fits in. However, we will surely find out when the game comes out April 2020.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 being politically correct with removing gender options?

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Removing Gender Options

Recently, CD Projekt Red revealed that it would be removing the gender option from Cyberpunk 2077 . For those who are curious, this means that when a player is creating their character, they won’t have to choose between male and female. Instead, they can assume that their character is whatever gender they would like their character to be while also choosing whichever body type as well as whichever voice option is best-suited for their assumption. On the whole, it is a very interesting choice on CD Projekt Red’s part that will mean very little to most people but will have an important impact on the purchasing choices of a small but nonetheless significant number of others.

What Does This Mean That Cyberpunk 2077 Is Removing Gender Options?

Considering CD Projekt Red’s high profile status, it was inevitable that its reveal would kick off another round in the culture wars. Something that is particularly unsurprising because of the recent kerfuffle over whether a particular piece of art shown in the E3 presentation for Cyberpunk 2077 was reflective of fetishistic trans-phobia or not when it was supposed to be an in-setting example of the uncaring commercialization carried out by over-powerful corporations.

Regardless, the current issue is that some people see this reveal as an example of CD Projekt Red being “politically correct,” which in their perception, makes it automatically a bad thing that must be rejected. However, there are a couple of points that should be considered here.

One, “politically correct” is pretty much meaningless, thus making it useless for productive conversation. Once upon a time, it was a useful descriptor for people who adhered very closely to the orthodox positions of whatever political factions that they associated themselves with. However, that hasn’t been the case since the 1980s and the 1990s, which was when it started being used as a pejorative either all or almost all of the time. As a result, “politically correct” can now encompass everything from the excessive to what most people would call basic empathy for other human beings with no nuance whatsoever because it has been reduced to nothing but a way to designate something to be attacked.

Two, the change is pretty much 100 percent positive. For people with no real interest in the matter whatsoever, the sole change is that they will now have to choose both the body type and the voice option that they want when making their character. There might be some individuals out there who are petty enough to find this to be a deal-breaker, but by any reasonable standard, it is an inconvenience so minor that it is inconsequential. In contrast, it seems safe to say that this change does mean a great deal to people who do care about this particular issue, thus making it a very nice gesture on CD Projekt Red’s part that doesn’t ruin anyone else’s experience. If anything, one could make an argument that it enhances their experience as well, seeing as how increased control over the character creation process tends to be regarded as a good thing.

Do you agree that Cyberpunk 2077 is right in removing gender options?

Cyberpunk 2077’s Character Creator Will Include Nonbinary Gender Options

A number of the many cool issues we noticed about Cyberpunk 2077 is its personality advent software, which permits you customise your personality’s glance and stats, even permitting you to switch their boulevard cred. Alternatively, the demo we noticed this week confirmed simplest two beauty renditions of the nature, one male and one feminine with other ability builds. CD Projekt Pink has showed the advent software will probably be a lot more numerous than this within the ultimate model of the sport, particularly in relation to bodily look and gender.

For context, whilst Cyberpunk 2077 was once being proven off at E3, an argument referring to a risque in-game advert depicting a transgender personality emerged, with some taking offense to how the advert fetishized or dehumanized trans other people.

Talking with Polygon, CDPR artwork director Kasia Redesiuk stated the advert is supposed to be dystopian satire, and the corporate’s function is to create extra acceptance for trans other people and the ones with non-binary genders.

Then, talking with Gamasutra, quest director Mataeusz Tomaszkiewicz showed the nature advent software inside Cyberpunk 2077 would mirror this perspective. “Probably the most issues we need to do within the ultimate sport (which we could not display within the demo but, as a result of as you discussed it is a paintings in development) is to present the gamers as many choices of customization to start with of the sport as we will be able to,” he stated. “For instance, we need to do that factor the place, as you create your personality, after you select the frame kind, you’ll, for instance, use bodily characteristics as you construct your face which may be assigned to a person or a girl.”

Tomaszkiewicz then showed this would come with non-binary choices as smartly. “The speculation is to combine all of the ones [options] up, to present them to the gamers, as they wish to construct it,” he defined. “Similar is going for the voice. We would have liked to split this out, so the gamers can make a choice it freely.” He additionally discussed this perspective would additionally lengthen to how characters are depicted within the sport itself. “We’re paying a large number of consideration to it, we are not looking for someone to really feel like we’re neglecting this, or treating it wrongly.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Will Supposedly Allow Customisation Of Genitalia

0 2.4K reads

CD Projekt Red’s (CDPR) much anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is now just four months away from launch, yet the developer has been pretty tight-lipped about any further in-game details. That is, until now.

The ESRB rating for Cyberpunk 2077 was recently made public, and with it came a surprising number of revelations. Firstly and to nobody’s surprise, the game has been given an M rating for its mature content. And while guns, violence, nudity, and death are par for the course, it’s the part about that genital customisation that really caught our attention.

Written right inside the rating summary, it clear that CDPR is taking the idea of character customisation and kicking it up a notch. The rating also explains that will be moments where the player character will be given a choice to engage in sexual activities – be it a prominent character or prostitutes – in brief, but equally detailed sex scenes.

On that note, the developer also told Trusted Reviews in an interview that gender expression will be “completely free”, enabling players to express their character as a male, female, or gender non-conforming individual.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on 17 September this year. The game will be available on both the PS4 and Xbox One console, as well as the PC. The game will also be arriving on the Google Stadia platform, although it remains to be seen whether it will launch in tandem with the other platforms or at a later date.

In the mean time, CDPR also announced that it will be holding an event on 11 June called “Night City Wire”. It fell short of saying what the event would be about, but many are expecting it to be a new trailer of the game, complete with new gameplay details.

Cyberpunk 2077 Nudity, Sex & Objectification Kazuliski

Firstly, we have the topic of objectification in Cyberpunk 2077. Objectification is the act of treating a person as an object, or a thing. It is widely regarded as dehumanizing the individual concerned or more commonly is associated with sexual objectification, which is the act of treating a person as a mere object of sexual desire. The information on objectification originates from an interview that Dualshockers conducted with Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Designer Patrick Mills at Gamescom 2018. It was published online on August 29th, 2018.

Patrick Mills explained that the Cyberpunk 2077 world is where the system and the powers that be, have objectified people and literally turned them into objects. Many times, people turn themselves into objects in order to rebel or sometimes to fit in. Mills was adamant that objectification would be a major theme. Within the same interview, Mills touched upon the topic of sex in Cyberpunk 2077, where he confirmed that prostitution and prostitutes will feature prominently in Night City. Mills declined to comment upon whether or not the player could interface with prostitutes.

In another interview with GameInformer, this time from E3 and published online on June 14th, 2018, Patrick Mills would explain that “Cyberpunk 2077 will be similar to the Witcher, but with more diversity,” Mills said that “There are a lot more options, in terms of defining your own character in Cyberpunk 2077, which means defining their sexuality any way you want. Geralt, was a character whose sexuality was very well defined by Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, short stories and the previous Witcher games. But in Cyberpunk 2077, it’s up to you to decide. NPCs are gay, bisexual and straight, because CD Projekt Red want them to feel real and that they have preferences as well.” In another interview, this time with Eurogamer and available online on 13th June, 2018, Patrick would explain that there would be many potential romantic opportunities in the game, both long-lasting romantic situations and one-night stands.

On the topic of Nudity, this is from an E3 interview with Cyberpunk 2077 Game Director, Adam Badowski and Polygon, published online on June 22nd 2018. The Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay demo showed male and female V avatars. Both of them were completely nude, but their genitals were covered with pixelated white boxes.

Adding those white boxes to cover up nudity was a tactical decision by CD Projekt Red. Badowski explained that CD Projekt Red did not want to be accused of using nudity for shock value, or to have its time with the international press side-tracked by conversations about male or female nudity in video games.

“We covered these parts for one reason,” said Badowski. “Because during the presentation, we don’t want people to focus on and think about these things and laugh. It’s normal! Nudity makes it more believable; that’s why we want to have it. There’s nothing special in it.”

Badowski confirmed that the final version of Cyberpunk 2077 will have full nudity, not for shock value but because it supports one of the most important themes in the cyberpunk genre: transhumanism, the belief that humanity can transcend its current mental and physical form with the help of technology. Throughout Cyberpunk 2077, players will have to successfully negotiate what it means for them personally to become transhuman, and one of the pieces of imagery Cyberpunk 2077 plans to use is nudity.

“Nudity is important for us because of one reason,” Badowski said. “This is cyberpunk, so people augment their body. The body is no longer sacrum; it’s profanum. Because people modify everything, they are losing their connection to the body, to the meat. And that’s why we need to use the nudity in many situations. In reference to when V attempts to save Sandra Dorsett from the Scavenger gang in the Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay demo, Badowski explains that “You see that there are bodies in the tub, and you need to take care of this woman. But at the same time, Sandra Dorsett is augmented,”. “She is not clean. Maybe she is augmented too much. Maybe the humanity level is pretty low in her, so it’s an interesting topic. It’s one of the key themes in cyberpunk. The very first scenes involving Major Motoko Kusanagi in the original Ghost in the Shell anime, show exactly the same aspect. Because where is sacrum and where is profanum in a world when you can simply modify yourself to such limits that it makes you a different kind of person? It’s one of the most important themes in cyberpunk, as a genre.”

As for deserts and mountains, this information was published online by VG24/7 on August 25th 2018 in an article called CD Projekt on Night City, its buildings, NPCs, and the deserts and mountains beyond. In this article, VG24/7 reported on an interview with Cyberpunk 2077 Producer, Richard Borzymowski. During this interview, Borzymowski touched upon a wide range of topics including community-based systems within Cyberpunk 2077. Communities will behave differently depending upon which part of Night City they reside it and dependent upon the time of day. Borzymowski explains that CD Projekt Red aim for a realistic city. To create a realistic environment, you need the blood of the city which is the population, otherwise it would feel empty.

In terms of building Night City, Borzymowski says that the Cyberpunk 2077 team want to make each situation approachable in myriad of different ways to accommodate the many different builds the player might have. This provides a challenge, in that every location must be realistic, an office space should be an office space, but gameplay systems must work in tandem with them. For instance, the interior must have enough space to accommodate both stealth and combat. Because Night City is split into different districts, the Cyberpunk 2077 team want to give each area a specific feel. Whether that is architecture, affluence, different types of cars, or even sounds. The player should notice a variety of languages and accents being used. This will also allow the player to orient themselves, so instead of a GPS, the player will be able to tell where they are based on the distinct feel of the area and not just through notable landmarks.

On the topic of Mountains and Deserts, Borzymowski is quoted as saying “CD Projekt Red are not putting an invisible wall after the last building in Night City, because it would completely break immersion. The city is located on the West Coast in California, there is a desert, there might be something else, and we have the sea on the other side.” For more Cyberpunk 2077 Lore check out Kazuliski.

Cyberpunk 2077’s Character Creator Will Include Nonbinary Gender Options

Among the many cool things we saw about Cyberpunk 2077 is its character creation tool, which allows you customize your character’s look and stats, even allowing you to modify their street cred. However, the demo we saw this week showed only two cosmetic renditions of the character, one male and one female with different skill builds. CD Projekt Red has confirmed the creation tool will be much more diverse than this in the final version of the game, especially when it comes to physical appearance and gender.

For context, while Cyberpunk 2077 was being shown off at E3, a controversy regarding a risque in-game ad depicting a transgender character emerged, with some taking offense to how the ad fetishized or dehumanized trans people.

Speaking with Polygon, CDPR art director Kasia Redesiuk said the ad is meant to be dystopian satire, and the company’s goal is to create more acceptance for trans people and those with non-binary genders.

Then, speaking with Gamasutra, quest director Mataeusz Tomaszkiewicz confirmed the character creation tool within Cyberpunk 2077 would reflect this attitude. “One of the things we want to do in the final game (which we couldn’t show in the demo yet, because as you mentioned it’s a work in progress) is to give the players as many options of customization in the beginning of the game as we can,” he said. “For example, we want to do this thing where, as you create your character, after you choose the body type, you can, for example, use physical traits as you build your face that could be assigned to a man or a woman.”

Tomaszkiewicz then confirmed this would include non-binary options as well. “The idea is to mix all of those [options] up, to give them to the players, as they would like to build it,” he explained. “Same goes for the voice. We wanted to separate this out, so the players can choose it freely.” He also mentioned this attitude would also extend to how characters are depicted in the game itself. “We are paying a lot of attention to it, we do not want anyone to feel like we are neglecting this, or treating it wrongly.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Customization Goes Into Genital Options

Easily one of the most anticipated video game titles coming out this year is CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. The video game was hyped up for years and after The Witcher series came to an end, there was plenty of hype over their upcoming futuristic cyberpunk RPG take. With that said, there was a massive news piece that came out regarding the maturity level that this game would feature. Now we’re finding out just how much of customization you’ll have when creating your character.

Players are put into the role of a mercenary named V who must work on odd jobs to build up the street cred to get the better-paying gigs. A big portion of this game involves augmentations due to advanced technology, gamers can have various enhancements made that will suit particular play styles. Being set in the distant future, a big part of the lifestyle in Cyberpunk 2077 is augmentations. As a result, you can make several body adjustments to play towards your skills and attributes.

As mentioned, there was plenty of adult content that was highlighted in the rating for this game. However, we are now finding out that there are options to customize genitals for your gender. We, of course, will refrain from getting too graphic in this post, but it appears that there will be options to adjust sizes and combinations to give your character your preferred appearance. This is a strong mature-rated video game and it’s bound to be controversial when released into the market.

Currently, Cyberpunk 2077 is slated to release on September 17, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
