Más nombres para Gamelab Barcelona 2020 Live (del 23 al 25 de junio). La organización ha anunciado que Mike Pondsmith, diseñador de videojuegos y de juegos de mesa, así como el creador del universo de Cyberpunk 2077 —ahora llevado a los videojuegos por CD Projekt RED—, será uno de los muchos creativos que estarán presentes en este evento digital. Lo acompañará Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director de la futura adaptación cinematográfica de Metal Gear Solid. La nota de prensa destaca que “los ponentes de primer nivel reafirman el potencial internacional” de la feria, que será enteramente digital debido al coronavirus, aunque el año que viene volverán a la normalidad.

El plantel de personalidades incluye a Amy Hennig, directora de la trilogía original de Uncharted en Naughty Dog. Supone su regreso, ya que también asistió a la edición de 2018, donde obtuvo el Premio de Honor de Gamelab. Por otra parte, American McGee se ha confirmado como otro de los potentes. Tras más de 27 años de experiencia en la industria, cuenta en su haber con triunfos como el de Doom o Quake, aunque en la actualidad se enfoca en los dispositivos móviles y en productos free-to-play.

El evento de presentaciуn digital de Cyberpunk 2077 planeado para el 11 de junio se pospone dos semanas, hasta el 25 de junio. Los desarrolladores CD Projekt Red ha anunciado que la retransmisiуn online, donde conoceremos nuevos detalles del juego de rol, se retrasa porque “ahora mismo estбn ocurriendo discusiones mбs importantes” y quieren que esas personas “sean escuchadas”, dicen en referencia a las manifestaciones en Estados Unidos y otros paнses del mundo por el homicidio de George Floyd.

Las protestas enmarcadas en el movimiento #BlackLivesMatter, iniciadas hace mбs de una semana en Estados Unidos tras el homicidio de George Floyd por parte de un policнa, y que se han extendido a otros paнses del mundo, son el motivo por el que diversas editoras de videojuegos han pospuesto sus presentaciones digitales.

El evento dedicado a los juegos de PlayStation 5 se ha retrasado a una fecha no definida, una decisiуn que han apoyado desde Xbox. Lo mismo ocurre con la presentaciуn de Madden NFL 21 . Activision ha pospuesto el lanzamiento de la Temporada 4 de Call of Duty: Warzone y Modern Warfare por este motivo.

Cyberpunk 2077 alcanza la “fase final” de su desarrollo; no cambia de fecha

CD Projekt asegura que el desarrollo avanza correctamente y, por tanto, no esperan retrasos. El juego llegará en septiembre de 2020.

CD Projekt ha presentado sus resultados fiscales correspondientes al primer trimestre de 2020, un documento del que se extrae un balance económico muy positivo y donde se indica que el Cyberpunk 2077 ha alcanzado la fase final del desarrollo. Si bien no está finalizado, no ha alcanzado la llamada fase gold, sí se están ultimando los detalles para cumplir con la fecha ratificada: 17 de septiembre.

“CD Projekt RED está llevando a cabo la fase final del desarrollo de su RPG más expansivo hasta la fecha: Cyberpunk 2077”, comienzan diciendo, acompañando el documento de una descripción de lo que ya sabemos dl título, que se basa en el universo de Cyberpunk 2020 creado por Mike Pondsmith.

Después de varios cambios de fecha —inicialmente planeado para esta primavera— el equipo polaco afronta los últimos compases de su juego más ambicioso tras el éxito de The Witcher 3, una saga que está igualmente de celebración tras haberse conocido que la licencia ha superado los 50 millones de copias en todo el mundo; la mayoría, correspondientes a la tercera parte numerada. Cyberpunk 2077 se pondrá a la venta en PC, PS4, Xbox One y Google Stadia este 17 de septiembre. Respecto a una versión para la próxima generación de consolas, está confirmado que no estará listo para PS5 y Xbox Series X de lanzamiento; aunque sí recibirá dos grandes expansiones en un futuro a la altura, según estiman ellos mismos, de las expansiones que tuvimos con The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 won’t just be set inside Night City

Cyberpunk 2077 is set in the sci-fi sprawl of Night City, but you’ll also be able to pop outside the skyscraper prison and explore the lovely outdoors. Beyond the city you’ll find the Badlands, a district filled with ruins and largely abandoned after droughts and other crises.

“The Badlands are the surrounding district around the Night City,” lead quest designer Pawel Sasko told VG24/7. “Players can leave Night City and just explore that area—an area that is mostly sort of destroyed basically after all the droughts and everything that happened in the 50 years from 2020 to ’77. And you can explore that, there are specific quests prepared for that, also open world content, so that’s definitely covered. It’s not only the city that you’re visiting.”

The Badlands aren’t entirely empty, and just as every district has a ruling gang, the outskirts are controlled by nomads. You can even choose nomad as your background and begin the game hanging out with your family of nomads.

“These are people who live on the road most of the time, so they travel between the states and see the wastes, and sometimes they stop for a longer time near specific cities,” quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz told Game Informer.

Cyberpunk 2077 will have six main districts, as well as some sub-districts, though the game’s final size hasn’t been settled on. It’s a “substantial” open world, Tomaszkiewicz said, but exactly how long it will take you to travel across is hard to determine while it’s still in development.

We also learned about cyberspace at E3. Technically it’s another way to leave Night City, letting you take a trip into the virtual realm. Like the Badlands, though, it doesn’t like a pleasant place, and jacking in is a big risk.

“Basically the cyberspace in our game is this extremely dark, grim place from the past,” Sasko told us in our Cyberpunk 2077 E3 interview. “It’s a past that has been divided by the black wall.” You need help to get in, but as a Netrunner you can also hack enemies and turrets by using your cyberware tool, which is less risky.

So we can explore the wasteland and hack into cyberspace, but sadly we won’t be able to drive those fancy flying cars.

Cyberpunk 2077 lets you choose from three possible origin stories and starting locations

You can start V off as a Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid.

We already know a lot about Cyberpunk 2077 ahead of its release date in 2020. We’ll be choosing who to kill (or not kill), who to smooch (or not), and now we know we’ll be choosing some details about V’s childhood and backstory as well, and those choices will determine which location you start playing in.

“The player in Cyberpunk 2077 can create a custom character that has one of three origin stories, that we call lifepaths,” says Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer Paweł Sasko in an email to VG24/7. “You can be Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid. Each of that Lifepaths has a different starting location and story background that are strongly connected with the origin story.”

We learned previously that V would be able to leave Night City to explore the Badlands, which will likely also be the starting location for players who choose the Nomad Lifepath. Both the Corpo and Street Kid Lifepaths sound as if they likely begin inside Night City, though probably in different districts.

Lifepaths are another of Cyberpunk 2077’s systems translated from the tabletop Cyberpunk 2020 and 2013 campaigns. In a tabletop campaign, players roll through a set of flowcharts to help give their character a backstory to play off of, rather than beginning a campaign as an amnesiac hero as many other RPGs resort to (looking at you, The Witcher 1).

From what we’ve seen of Cyberpunk 2077’s character creation screen above, it looks like you may have full control over V’s Lifepath, rather than having it decided by a die roll. I, obviously, will be choosing Johnny Silverhand “Samurai Rockerboy” as my childhood hero.

That’s all we may hear about V’s possible origins for now, as Sasko says, “Anything more I say can reveal too much from the story.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Players Can Drive the Car From Mad Max: Fury Road

CD Projekt Red reveals that Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting the Quadra Type-66 “Reaver,” which is based on a car from Mad Max: Fury Road.

The upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting the car from Mad Max: Fury Road as per a recent announcement by CD Projekt Red. After an unexpected delay, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on 17th September, 2020. Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it was speculated that the game might get delayed even further, following the trends in the industry. However, CD Projekt Red clarified that their release plans for Cyberpunk 2077 remain unchanged.

CD Projekt Red has been pretty actively building the hype for Cyberpunk 2077, teasing broad and subtle aspects of the game from time to time. Quite recently, the ESRB ratings of the game made it evident that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature in-depth character customization options, including the ability to customize the character’s genitals. The game will also feature a plethora of elements characteristic to the Cyberpunk setting, involving nudity, transhumanism, and drug usage. Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay gives the impression of a plausible immersive-sim inspiration, and it will be interesting to see if CD Projekt Red is able to bring a rather niche and under-appreciated genre to the mainstream audience. Despite the fact that the setting and tone of the game might not be for everyone, it is still one of the most anticipated games of the year.

CD Projekt Red revealed that the game will be featuring the Quadra Type-66 “Reaver” car from Mad Max: Fury Road in a recent Twitter post. As Eurogamer mentions, the Quadra Type-66 is inspired by the 1970 AMC Javelin AMX, which is the car fans use in the real-world as an imitation of Max’s classic V8 Interceptor. The Quadra Type-66 is manufactured by Quadra, which makes “retro stylised sports automotive” vehicles in the game. The Reaver is based on the same model and is a custom car built by the Wraiths gang, one of the Nomad groups in Cyberpunk 2077 who live in the Badlands. Players can see glimpses of the territory in the short clip below, with the terrain making it obvious that the place is situated outside Night City.

CD Projekt Red also teased quite a few things in the same Twitter thread. Responding to one of the fans’ queries on whether the game will be having emotional moments, Lead Quest Designer Paweł Sasko said that the players will be an “emotional wreck” by the time the game ends. CD Projekt Red has been predominantly emphasizing the narrative of Cyberpunk 2077, and it will be interesting to see how things actually pan out in the game in regards to the branching story lines.

CD Projekt Red is known for its Easter Eggs, and it is expected that the latest Mad Max: Fury Road crossover is just one of the many external references fans will be seeing in the game. The most anticipated of all is the Ciri cameo which almost every fan is eagerly waiting for, and while her presence in Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t be confirmed as of now, her description of a place similar to Night City in Witcher 3 has kept fans optimistic.

Talking to VG247, lead quest designer Paweł Sasko explained a system that CD Projekt Red calls “Lifepaths”, which in practice sound much like Dragon Age: Origins’ character origin stories.

“The player in Cyberpunk 2077 can create a custom character that has one of three origin stories, that we call lifepaths: you can be Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid,” Sasko explained. “Each of that Lifepaths has a different starting location and story background that are strongly connected with the origin story.”

One of these Lifepaths begins in the Badlands, the barren wasteland that surrounds Night City (we’re guessing that’s the Nomad). CD Projekt Red has offered no description of the other starting areas, but it seems sensible to guess that Corpo characters may begin in a more corporate district of Night City, while Street Kids could hail from slum-like areas.

In other news, we recently discovered that CD Projekt Red has plans to develop three Cyberpunk games, and that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature romance plotlines similar to those seen in The Witcher 3. If romance isn’t your style, don’t worry: you can be as mean as you want thanks to Cyberpunk 2077 not featuring a morality system.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a release date of April 16, 2020 and is being released as a PC game, a PS4 game and an Xbox One game.

In addition, Head of Communication UK for CD Projekt Red Hollie Bennett hosted a Q&A panel with some of the developers of Cyberpunk 2077, which includes senior level designer Miles Tost, lead quest designer Paweł Sasko, and quest design coordinator Philipp Webber.

Both of these revealed a ton of new details about Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2020, and Google Stadia on or after that date. We’ve gathered 40 of the most important details that you need to know below.

Cyberpunk 2077’s Character Creation and Life Path

1 – The player character, V, can choose one of three Life Paths for his character that will help define their past – Nomad, Street Kid, Corporate

2 – The description of Nomad – “Roaming the Badlands, looting scrapyards, raiding fuel depots – life on the road wasn’t easy. But growing up In a nomad clan has its perks. Honesty, integrity, and a love of freedom – qualities that few in Night City possess, and no amount of money can buy.”

3 – The description of Street Kid – “They say if you wanna understand the streets, you gotta live ‘em. Gangs, fixers, dolls, small-time pushers – you were raised by them all. Down here the law of the jungle dictates the weak serve the strong – the only law in Night City you have yet to break.”

4 – The description of Corporate – “Few leave the corporate world with their lives – fewer still with their souls intact. You’ve been there – you’ve bent the rules, exploited secrets, and weaponized information. There’s no such thing as a fair game, only winners and losers.”

5 – Player’s Life Path will influence how other’s interact with them, but a player is not beholden to their past and can change.

6 – Create a character by choosing body type, appearance, and attributes, which include Body, Intelligence, Reflexes, Technical, and Cool

7 – Cool is not about simply looking cool in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, but how a player’s character reacts and performs under intense pressure.

Cyberpunk 2077 Character Builds – Solo, Techie, Netrunner

8 – Cyberpunk 2077 does not limit player’s and force them to chose a single class. Players can mix and match skills and attributes and create the V that they wish to embody.

9 – There are three main archetypes – Solo, Techie, and Netrunner – although players can become a hybrid class and combine aspects of each one if they so desire.

10 – In the demo, we were shown a Netrunner class and a Strong Solo class.

11 – The Netrunner is able to hack and manipulate many devices in Cyberpunk 2077’s world. They can use Nanowires to hack enemies and machines from afar. The Nanowires can also be used as a whip to slice up enemies.

12 – One example in the demo saw the player character hacking into a bench press machine while a gang member from the Animals was using it, causing it to crush and kill him. Another example saw the Netrunner hacking into a training droid that was fighting another Animal gang member. He turned off the droids safety and the droid proceeded to land a killing blow on the gang member, causing a distraction in the process.

13 – Netrunners can hack into access points to control devices in an area and even quick hack cameras and turrets. Players can play as a stealthy Netrunner, an aggressive Netrunner, or a combination of both and even more.

14 – Strong Solo characters can use their strength to create a completely new play experience. They can rip turrets off their base and use them as weapons, open doors with brute strength.

15 – Techies can use devices and hardware to their advantage, including the ability to use Flathead the autonomous robot ally. V can send Flathead to manipulate devices, repair items, attack enemies, and much more.

Talking to VG247, lead quest designer Paweł Sasko explained a system that CD Projekt Red calls “Lifepaths”, which in practice sound much like Dragon Age: Origins’ character origin stories.

Three Origin Stories in Cyberpunk 2077

“The player in Cyberpunk 2077 can create a custom character that has one of three origin stories, that we call lifepaths: you can be Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid,” Sasko explained. “Each of that Lifepaths has a different starting location and story background that are strongly connected with the origin story.”

One of these Lifepaths begins in the Badlands, the barren wasteland that surrounds Night City (we’re guessing that’s the Nomad). CD Projekt Red has offered no description of the other starting areas, but it seems sensible to guess that Corpo characters may begin in a more corporate district of Night City, while Street Kids could hail from slum-like areas.

In other news, we recently discovered that CD Projekt Red has plans to develop three Cyberpunk games, and that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature romance plotlines similar to those seen in The Witcher 3. If romance isn’t your style, don’t worry: you can be as mean as you want thanks to Cyberpunk 2077 not featuring a morality system.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a release date of April 16, 2020 and is being released as a PC game, a PS4 game and an Xbox One game.

Cyberpunk 2077 and the Badlands and Nomads beyond Night City

If you venture outside the booming metropolis of Night City in Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll find yourself in the Badlands.

The Badlands are the remnants of the past, buildings buried in the arid dirt. It’s what keeps the Californian Night City boxed in, and you’ll be able to explore it on-foot, by car, and by motorcycle. Expect a more off-road experience here than in the rest of Night City.

“The Badlands are the surrounding district around the Night City,” lead quest designer Pawel Sasko explained during our E3 chat. “Players can leave Night City and just explore that area – an area that is mostly sort of destroyed basically after all the droughts and everything that happened in the 50 years from 2020 to ‘77. And you can explore that, there are specific quests prepared for that, also open world content, so that’s definitely covered. It’s not only the city that you’re visiting.”

As well as supporting a range of quests and exploration opportunities, the Badlands are also the home of the Nomads, a roving gang that lives out of their vehicles and roams the wastes. It’s Mad Max with arm blades.

“You can be one of the nomads as a player and you can start there, being part of a family of the Nomads,” Sasko explained. “You could call them a tribe that is living in cars and they’re just driving over Badlands. They’re doing various jobs for fixers, and for people in the city, and doing various deals – I don’t want to disclose too much because not to spoil the story.”

Cyberpunk 2077’s Lifepaths May Make You Want to Replay the Game Multiple Times

In Cyberpunk 2077, the Lifepath system will allow players to determine the player character V’s background. There are three in total—Nomad, Corpo, or Street Kid—each with their own origin story and starting location. For now, very few specifics are known about Lifepaths. However, one CD Projekt RED developer has revealed that the three option will be different enough that players will hopefully want to play through the game multiple times.

The studio’s Senior Quest Designer, Philipp Weber, touched on this during a recent Q&A session on CD Projekt’s community forums. Weber explained that each of the three Lifepath options allowed the development team to explore nonlinear narrative options in myriad ways. As such, the roleplay possibilities for players are numerous, and will hopefully encourage fans to play Cyberpunk 2077 more than once. Weber made note of the following during the Q&A:

As quest designers we were already used to tell nonlinear stories, so having a character like V gave us more of what we already like to do. The lifepaths are actually one of my favorite features, because they just give us more roleplaying opportunities. A nomad can of course solve some problems much better than a corpo, but put him into a board room and he might not really have the best way to lead a conversation the way he wants to.

So when we come up with challenges, we also like to think how different lifepaths could solve them effectively. This will hopefully give players lots of motivation to play the game multiple times, because they can have a completely new experience.

The new gameplay options thanks to our fluid class system essentially give us more opportunities to make our quests even more nonlinear. It’s a lot of fun to work with our level and encounter designers on locations for our quests, because there are always so many different options we can come up with. And sometimes, these options can then also change the story, so just like the lifepath, these gameplay abilities just make it easier for us to make the quest more nonlinear than ever.

It should be intriguing to see just how this all plays out in the end. Based on what Weber revealed in his above statement, it seems Cyberpunk 2077 may feature an incredible variety of narrative branches. Hopefully, more about this will be discussed in details as the title’s launch draws closer.

CD Projekt Red explain Cyberpunk 2077 character origins

CD Projekt Red have detailed character origins and life paths in the latest Cyberpunk 2077 video. According to Quest Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, each character background you pick will affect quests and story in its own, unique way.

We already know that Cyberpunk 2077 will have three origin stories for players to choose in the character creation. Corporate, Nomad and Street Kid are the options that CD Projekt Red confirmed and each of these background stories will give you a different playthrough, with unique actions, dialogue choices and more.

In the latest Cyberpunk 2077 video on Twitter, the game’s Quest Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz explained what exactly can players expect from these choices and how will they affect your relationship with other factions in the game.

In Cyberpunk 2077, players will have a big variety of skills that can be modified as you progress through the game and develop your character. These skills will allow players to approach certain levels differently and discover different options in the quest.

Tomaszkiewicz then gave an example of two character origin stories. If you choose Street Kid, you’ll have an easier time talking to street gangs all over the Night City or if you pick Corporate background, you’ll have additional options when dealing with people from various corporations, which could give you an advantage over them since you know how they think and operate.

Unfortunately, Tomaszkiewicz did not mention the Nomad origin and how exactly could this choice affect the overall gameplay. Nomads usually live in The Badlands, which is a surrounding district of Night City but that’s the only bit of info we have about the faction.

In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, CD Projekt Red and Dark Horse Comics revealed that the game is getting a hardcover lore book named The World of Cyberpunk 2077. It will launch shortly after the game – 21 April 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 is hitting the shelves on 16 April 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

CD Projekt Red Shares More On Size And Scope Of Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red has always built rich settings, but The Witcher 3 really tested its skills in term of scope and ambition. Thankfully, the team knocked it out of the park. For its next game, CD Projekt is once again challenging itself with what it can do in terms of scope and variety in both setting and gameplay. Today at E3, we chatted with quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz to learn more about the size of the game.

Previously, CD Projekt Red confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 would have six districts, but the information was light on specifics. Today, Tomaszkiewicz shed more light on the sheer amount of things and people you’ll encounter in them, and it’s much more plentiful than we anticipated.

“We have the six [main] districts, which also have [sub-districts]. We have the Badlands, which is the area surrounding the city, the outskirts. The city itself is pretty big, but it also has levels. Because there are missions that will lead you to a specific building, and these can be pretty high, multiple levels and so on.”

Tomaszkiewicz also talked about the various people and groups you encounter while playing. The city is divided between different gangs and corporations, with different ones taking charge. Each of the districts have their own ruling gang. For example, in the demo we saw, which took place in Pacifica, the Voodoo Boys were in charge. However, head into downtown and the corporations “keep people in check strictly with their security forces.” No one corporation owns an entire area, though. “They are in this kind of situation where they are bidding for power with each other, but they operate to keep the whole system in balance.”

They’re not the only ones you’ll encounter, as The Badlands have a faction of nomads. “These are people who live on the road most of the time, so they travel between the states and see the wastes, and sometimes they stop for a longer time near specific cities,” Tomaszkiewicz says. The Nomads also have a rivaling gang, which is basically all the outcasts of the Nomad factions – think bandits. These factions also interact with each other within the game, and don’t forget you also will brush shoulders with your share of different corporations.

“The game itself is pretty big, I would say,” Tomaszkiewicz says. “It’s hard to tell right now how long it takes to traverse because we are still in development. But I would say the game is pretty substantial. If you enjoy big open worlds, this is a game for you.” Tomaszkiewicz also confirmed many side quests and random events happen within the world, but that was pretty much a given.
