New Witcher Game Will Begin Development After Cyberpunk 2077 Release

Which Witcher?

Posted March 12, 2020, 10:55 a.m.

CD Projekt Red has announced that it will begin developing a new game set in the world of The Witcher – but not The Witcher 4 – after Cyberpunk 2077 is released.

Speaking to Eurogamer Poland (with translation confirmed by IGN Poland), president of CD Projekt Adam Kiciński explained that the developer had created a “clear concept” for a new single-player Witcher game, and that production would begin in earnest once Cyberpunk 2077 is released.

After Cyberpunk 2077 sees its initial release, CD Projekt Red will have two larger teams working on Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer and DLC respectively, with a smaller team beginning work on the Witcher game.

Kiciński also reiterated the fact that a new Witcher game would not be The Witcher 4, i.e. a continuation of the story of Geralt. the protagonist of the first three mainline Witcher games. This is in line with what Kiciński has been saying for several years – back in 2017, he said that Geralt’s story was complete, but that the studio would “probably” return to The Witcher in some form.

Kiciński doesn’t make clear what form the next Witcher game would take, but it seems likely that this would be a follow-on from the RPG style of the previous games, rather than a spin-off in the vein of Gwent: The Witcher Card game. No timeframe was given for release but, given the development cycles for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, we can expect it to be several years away at the very least.

The company president also explained that CD Projekt currently only has games planned in the Witcher and Cyberpunk universes – it seems we won’t be seeing any new IP from the Polish studio anytime soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 is due for release on September 17, following a lengthy delay from its original April estimate. The game will be released for PC and current-gen consoles, with a next-gen release all but confirmed by the fact that CDPR has said players who buy the game on Xbox One will get a free upgrade for a Series X version, whenever that arrives.

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Comment on Possible Nintendo Switch Port

By Tyler Fischer – February 8, 2020 06:01 pm EST

Cyberpunk 2077 is not only going to be one of the most ambitious and technically demanding games released this year, but of the entire generation. It’s shocking to think the ol’ PS4 and Xbox One will be able to even run the game. That said, despite the massive resource demands of the title, Polish developer CD Projekt Red isn’t entirely writing off a Nintendo Switch port.

As you may know, CD Projekt Red did — somehow — bring it’s ambitious and massive 2015 open-world RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , to the Nintendo Switch recently (with the help of Saber Interactive). In other words, if there are video game development wizards out there who could get Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Nintendo Switch, it would be the pair of European developers.

“I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it,” said CD Projekt RED’s John Mamais while speaking to OnMSFT. “But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is in development for Google Stadia, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Barring any further delays, it will release worldwide on September 17. At this point, I wouldn’t expect it to ever come to the Nintendo Switch, but it’s almost certainly going to natively grace the PS5 and Xbox Series X either later in the fall or 2021.

“Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis
obsessed with power, glamour and body modification,” reads an official pitch of the game. “You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.”

Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red Talks About Possible Switch Port

CD Projekt Red has opened up about the possibility of bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to Nintendo Switch, referencing The Witcher 3 as a surprising example.

CD Projekt Red has spoken up about the possibility of a Switch port for Cyberpunk 2077 , refusing to rule out the possibility after The Witcher 3 ‘s appearance on the Nintendo console–but still deeming it unlikely. As the next major game from acclaimed developer CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is easily one of the most anticipated titles dropping in 2020. That’s probably why it has been making a number of headlines as of late.

The real excitement for the game kicked off at E3 2019 when it was confirmed that Keanu Reeves would be joining Cyberpunk 2077 as a character named Johnny Silverhand. This led to a wonderful moment where a fan in attendance proclaimed that Reeves was breathtaking, which then promptly went viral. Now PC, PS4, and Xbox One players are looking forward to taking in the “breathtaking” experience next year, while Switch players are wondering if they’ll be left in the dust.

During an interview between GameSpot and John Mamais, the head of CD Projekt Red’s Krakow office, the topic of a Nintendo Switch port for Cyberpunk 2077 was brought up. Mamais refused to commit one way or the other to the idea. Admittedly, this seems like a safe route to take when plans are still up in the air. Even then, the outlook of a Switch port doesn’t seem promising.

“Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we `decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”

Nintendo has had some major third-party titles arrive on its current platform in recent years, with CD Projekt Red’s own The Witcher 3 being one of the most prominent Switch releases. Still, vistas like Cyberpunk 2077 ‘s Night City would be very challenging to bring to life in the same way on Switch. That’s not to say it can’t be done, but perhaps Mamais and the team have already considered the port if he is saying “ probably not ” when asked about the possibility.

It won’t be too much longer before the game is in the hands of consumers, as Cyberpunk 2077 is set to arrive on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020. CD Projekt Red’s ambitious title may very well end up being the swan song for modern consoles, with the Xbox’s Project Scarlett and now PlayStation 5 confirmed to launch in Holiday 2020. Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 will recieve definitive editions on the upcoming and enhanced hardware, which could open up the possibility of a Switch port to coincide with those releases? That’s just speculation for now, but it’s an exciting time to be a fan of the developer.

Cyberpunk 2077: Hefty and Inappropriate For Nintendo Switch

Even if Cyberpunk suffered a delay, fans across the globe are interested in the destiny of Cyberpunk 2077. Among those questions, one of the bigger ones is, will it be coming to the Nintendo Switch platform? Even if the developer is familiar with the inquiries, having a Nintendo Switch version is less likely. CD Projekt Red knows this and has already stated multiple times during their work on Cyberpunk 2077, that the game is quite substantial in size, but also lengthy in gameplay.

With that said, we are not sure if the game would ever arrive on the Nintendo Switch platform. For comparison, everyone takes the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is also a very long game. But if we follow from there, there’s always hope for Cyberpunk 2077 to arrive on the Nintendo Switch platform. Especially now that John Mamais, in an interview with ONMSFT, stated the following

Not as far as I know. I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it. But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt suffered a lot of graphics tweaks and visual downgrades so that the title could arrive on the Nintendo Switch. For that reason, Cyberpunk 2077 seems entirely ineligible for a device as Nintendo Switch, and even if it does have a chance to join, it will join somewhere later, when all the necessary tweaks are done.

Cyberpunk 2077 for Nintendo Switch: Only CD Projekt could pull off impossible feat

NINTENDO Switch fans are given faint hope of a Cyberpunk 2077 port possibly appearing on the handheld/home console hybrid.

Cyberpunk 2077 (Image: CD PROJEKT)

The Nintendo Switch isn’t exactly short of must-have exclusives, having already hosted games like Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It’s third-party support where the Nintendo Switch falters, with games like GTA 5, Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Red Dead Redemption 2 all absent from the console. And just when it looked like another third-party blockbuster was about to skip the Switch, CD Projekt has just given fans a slight glimmer of hope for the future.

Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be 2020’s biggest gaming blockbuster – and that’s saying something in a year that includes FInal Fantasy 7 Remake, The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghosts of Tsushima.

The upcoming action role-playing game has been confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC, but not for Nintendo Switch.

While this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, fans were hopeful following CD Projekt’s successful efforts in porting The Witcher 3 across.

CD Projekt clearly feels the same, telling onMSFT that while Cyberpunk 2077 may be “too heavy” for the Switch, the studio has done the impossible once before.

Asked about a possible Switch port for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt’s John Mamais said: ” Not as far as I know. I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it.

“But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.”

It’s not a lot to go on, and it would probably be a long time before such a port would and could happen, but it’s definitely something for Switch fans to hang their hats on.

Who knows, if Nintendo ever does release an upgraded version of the Switch, Cyberpunk 2077 would be the ideal candidate to showcase the console.

The news comes just a few weeks after CD Projekt delayed Cyberpunk 2077 until September.

In a letter addressed to fans, CD Projekt said that while Cyberpunk 2077 was in a playable state, it wasn’t quite ready for launch.

” We have important news regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s release date we’d like to share with you today,” CD Projekt explains.

“Cyberpunk 2077 won’t make the April release window and we’re moving the launch date to 17 September, 2020.

“We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done. Night City is massive – full of stories, content and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing.

“We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us the precious months we need to make the game perfect.”

Trending

Cyberpunk 2077 is described as an open-world, action-adventure game set in the futuristic location of Night City.

“You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality,” reads the official description.

“You can customise your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.”

As the description suggests, different players will have a vastly altered experience based on their approach to gameplay.

You can play it for yourself when it launches on September 17 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

If you want to see how The Witcher 3 looks and plays on a handheld, you can pick up the Switch version now.

Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Won’t Say No to Nintendo Switch Port

Cyberpunk 2077 dev says that CD Projekt Red doesn’t have current plans to bring the game to Nintendo Switch, but things may change.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the year’s most highly anticipated titles. In a recent interview, CD Projekt Red Producer John Mamais talked about the development of the game, DLC, and interestingly enough, the idea of Cyberpunk 2077 one day making its way to Nintendo Switch.

As of right now, there are no plans for a Nintendo Switch version of Cyberpunk 2077. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that a port won’t arrive at a later date. The Witcher 3 saw a Switch port release recently to strong overall reviews, and many, including John Mamias, thought it might not have been possible.

Mamias mentioned that Cyberpunk 2077 may not work on the Nintendo Switch, as it may be too heavy of a title. But there were similar doubts with The Witcher 3 , and CD Projekt Red pulled it off. Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed earlier in the year and some rumors sprouted up that this was due to the performance of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. CD Projekt Red has since denied those reports, which would help the case for the game possibly being able to squeeze onto the Switch.

The first party line-up for the Nintendo Switch is undeniable, with massive hits like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Just recently the Switch hit a massive sales milestone of 30 million units in less than three years, which is more than the Xbox One is estimated to have accomplished in seven years.

Another very strong area for software sales for the Switch has been the indie support. Whether it’s brand new titles or ports finding a new home on the console/handheld hybrid, smaller titles seem to play wonderfully on the Switch. Nintendo knows how to optimize its own games wonderfully, with some of the best looking titles on the market being first-party Nintendo software. And indie games don’t often need that extra performance. This may be why Nintendo has decided to forego launching a Nintendo Switch Pro in 2020.

That being said, whether it be on a future Nintendo Switch Pro, or somehow jammed into a cartridge and playable on the current Switch, like The Witcher 3 , it would be very fun to play Cyberpunk 2077 on the go on a Nintendo Switch.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on September 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.

CD Projekt Red Discusses Possible Cyberpunk 2077 Switch Port

Fans are curious if Cyberpunk 2077’s large and dense open world could ever fit on the Nintendo Switch, leading CD Projekt RED to speak up about it.

It’s fitting that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of 2020’s biggest games as far as hype goes, because it’s shaping up to be one of 2020’s biggest games in a literal sense too. From the sprawling setting of Night City to the depths of its quest and character customization systems, it’s clear that CD Projekt RED’s futuristic RPG promises to provide the developer’s deepest and most-content-packed open-world experience to date. So naturally, some people are wondering if the game could ever fit on the Nintendo Switch.

At the moment, Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t set to come to the handheld/console hybrid at launch or any time after, nor has there been any real discussion about it happening on CD Projekt RED’s part. But there was a brief change of pace this weekend, as one of the game’s developers did offer up their thoughts on the possibility.

John Mamais is the head of CD Projekt RED’s satellite office in Krakow, Poland, and he was talking to GameSpot about all sorts of things regarding the game, including the story, the post-launch multiplayer features, the presence of Keanu Reeves’ charismatic AI Johnny Silverhand, and so on. Amid all of the questions he was being asked, the question of a Switch port of Cyberpunk 2077 came up. Mamais didn’t go into much length with his answer, simply saying, “I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”

While that last line certainly isn’t encouraging, Mamais did point out that the Switch port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt coming this week somehow managed to squeeze all of that massive game and its sizable DLC into one 32 GB cartridge. “Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch,” he said, “so who knows?”

That being said, a Switch port is probably still very much of a longshot. To reiterate, Cyberpunk 2077 is a big game. Last we checked, the game boasted a file size of around 80 GB. That’s nearly three times the amount of data the Switch is capable of carrying without a microSD card. Sure, there are a handful of studios with expertise downsizing larger-scale games to fit on the Switch (like with The Witcher 3 ), but given Cyberpunk ’s sheer amount of content, as well as the intricacies of the systems tying it all together, it might not be practical to even bother.

If it’s going to show up on any platform besides the ones it’s already been confirmed for, it’ll likely be on the PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Project Scarlett. Not only will these next-gen consoles not have to worry about the technical compromises and file size limits that the Switch does, Mamais expressed a greater interest in developing for them. “It’s going to be awesome,” he said. “It’s always cool to have new consoles coming out and I can’t wait to work on those things. We’ll see what we can do with those.”

Cyberpunk 2077 will be out on April 16, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 Coming to Nintendo Switch?

2015’s Game of the Year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is the game that really put CD Projekt Red on the map as one of the premiere game developers out there. Now with The Witcher 3 a thing of the past, CD Projekt is moving onto their next huge project, Cyberpunk 2077. The game is actually adapted from the 1988 tabletop game, Cyberpunk 2020, with CD Projekt putting their own fresh twist and mark on everything. After Cyberpunk’s big 48-minute gameplay reveal it quickly became one of the most hotly anticipated titles, so it’s only natural for fans to wonder if they might get the chance to play it on the go with their Nintendo Switch.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to be the bearer of bad news for now. At the moment there are no plans whatsoever to bring Cyberpunk 2077 to the Nintendo Switch. The game is currently planned for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. During CD Projekt’s 2017 Financial Presentation, the company said they’re focusing on the strongest platforms including PC and consoles, but that a Switch version wasn’t under consideration for now. Of course, this doesn’t absolutely mean there’s no chance of ever seeing Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo console, but for at least don’t get your hopes up. It should also be noted that none of CD Projekt’s games have ever been released on a Nintendo platform up to this point.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently planned to release sometime in 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. For more Cyberpunk 2077 content you can take a look at a few neat Easter Eggs hidden in the game’s reveal, as well as a few other Cyberpunk-style games CD Projekt probably used as homework.

That’s all you need to know about if Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to Switch, and if anything changes on the matter we’ll make sure to update you right here. For more news and info on Cyberpunk 2077 and video games in general, make sure to search Twinfinite.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Likely Not Coming To Nintendo Switch

This week, The Witcher 3 from CD Projekt RED will be released on Nintendo Switch, something that no one ever believed possible. CDPR and Saber Interactive made the magic happen, but it seems like the same thing may not be happening with the studio’s next major RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.

Speaking with GameSpot about a possible Switch port of the game, CDPR’s John Mamis stated that the game is likely not coming to the console.

At the same time, no one thought that The Witcher 3 would be possible on Nintendo Switch, so if the team decides to port the game, it will happen.

Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we `decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.

Judging from the statement, it’s clear how the team is currently only focused on completing the game, and it’s definitely too soon to talk about ports.

Once the game is out, they will surely take a look at the possibility, and an eventual Switch hardware revision packing more power could make the decision to port the game easier.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be a very different RPG from The Witcher 3, starting from the first-person view, but it will be just as polished as the latest entry in the series starring Geralt of Rivia.

Players will also get more freedom in developing their character and will be able to complete quests in different ways depending on how they have built their character.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches next year on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Don’t Expect Cyberpunk 2077 To Be Ported To Nintendo Switch

There seems to be a trend in porting big console and PC games to the cute but powerful Nintendo Switch. While Diablo 3 and The Witcher 3 seemed ambitious games to port to Switch at first, they’ve been praised for their ability to bring huge, intensive games to a small, portable screen. But developer CD Projekt Red doesn’t think it’ll continue the trend with Cyberpunk 2077 .

Speaking to Gamespot at PAX Australia, John Mamais, head of Krakow’s office, confirmed a lot of things about the upcoming cyberpunk RPG, including his concerns about Australia’s classification system and the potential of introducing post-release micro-transactions.

It’s Not Clear If Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have First Person Sex Scenes

Cyberpunk 2077, releasing April 2020, asks the big questions about our technology-driven future and what it means to be human. Also, it has tatas and badonkadonks out the wazoo — but some mixed messaging from the studio has left fans confused as to whether all the cut scenes will be in first person.

But maybe most interesting, given CD Projekt’s prodigy game The Witcher 3 was just released on Switch, was what he said about a potential port for Cyberpunk 2077 .

“Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see,” Mamais told Gamespot. “If we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”

But look, it’s probably not a huge loss right now as experiencing games as huge as Cyberpunk 2077 on PC or consoles — the platforms it’s designed for — tends to give players a better experience. It might not be a portable experience but it’s going to give you a better appreciation of the scale of things without having to fit it all into a 6.2-inch (or the Switch Lite’s 5.5-inch) screen. The Witcher 3 on Switch lets you enjoy the game on the fly but you’ll have to sacrifice the original impressive graphics for a Vaseline-smeared glaze.

Cyberpunk 2077 is expected come to Everything Not Nintendo Switch on April 18, 2020.

7 Cyberpunk Games While You Wait For Cyberpunk 2077

There’s plenty of cyberpunk games around, but the genre’s enjoyed another resurgence thanks to the interest around Keanu Reeves Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red’s ambitious shooter is the hottest thing on the internet still, but since the game won’t arrive until April 2020, here’s seven games with similar aesthetics, gameplay or storylines to whet your appetite until it arrives.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Nintendo Switch? Latest CD Projekt Red release news

Cyberpunk 2077 is inarguably one of the year’s biggest upcoming gaming releases. Part of that stems from developer CD Projekt Red’s heritage – the developers of (among other things) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have rightfully earned a reputation for being some of the best in the business.

Then there’s the premise of the game – players will be set loose in Night City as V, a customisable character with seemingly limitless freedom with which to approach the game’s open-ended missions – all while accompanied by John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves. It all sounds like Deus Ex, but turned up to eleven.

With all of that hype coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC players – as well as, presumably, the PS5 and Xbox Series X – it stands to reason that Nintendo Switch owners might be holding out hope for a portable version.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Nintendo Switch?

Answer: The short answer is, perhaps understandably, “probably not”. That’s what John Mamais from CD Projekt Red told Gamespot back in October 2019.

That may dishearten fans, but the longer answer is more interesting – “Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows?” Mamais said.

“I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”

So, not a definitive no – although The Witcher 3 launched in 2015 before coming to Switch in 2019. That means the game was a little older, and the Switch came after the initial launch.

You might argue that with Cyberpunk 2077 supposedly struggling to perform on standard PS4 and Xbox One consoles, that a Nintendo Switch release is pie in the sky thinking.

However, if Nintendo were to hypothetically release a Nintendo Switch Pro in the future, upgraded hardware could perhaps allow for some sort of port.

And If you’re wondering if the Switch version of The Witch 3 – arguably one of the generation’s best games – is worth picking up, we have good news.

In our review, we said “long-time Witcher fans will have a blast reliving their adventures on the go, while those who have yet to step into the hunting boots, luscious locks and scruffed beard of Geralt of Rivia, have the perfect opportunity to get stuck in.” You can read the full piece here , where we awarded it four stars.

The Switch version also includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, each big enough to be games in themselves. But has CD Projekt Red planned something similar for Cyberpunk 2077?

When The Witcher 3 launched in 2015, it received plenty of free downloadable content, as well as the two big expansions – and in the same interview with Gamespot it sounds like CD Projekt Red is considering more of the same for their next RPG.

“[It] was a good model for us; it worked pretty well for The Witcher 3, I don’t see why we wouldn’t try to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077. We’re not talking about that yet, but it seems like that would be the smart way to go.”

If you’re looking for a game to showcase your Switch’s graphical prowess, all is not lost. Between The Witcher 3, Doom, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Nintendo’s little hybrid/handheld packs a mightier punch than you’d think.

It might just be a little too out of reach to expect Cyberpunk 2077 to hack its way onto the console, just yet.

Cyberpunk 2077 Switch: Is it Coming to Switch?

Cyberpunk 2077 is on its way from CD Projekt RED, the creators of The Witcher series, and it’s already looking amazing. It’s currently planned, or at least aiming, for release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, but what about Nintendo Switch? Is there going to be a Cyberpunk 2077 Switch version, or is the game only coming to non-portable systems (barring a really expensive laptop)? Let’s find out.

Will There Be a Cyberpunk 2077 Switch Version?

CD Projekt RED has not confirmed any platforms for the release of Cyberpunk 2077, with the obvious exception of PC. The developer is at least aiming for a current-gen release, although at the moment the only consoles they’ve mentioned are Xbox One and PS4. The studio currently has no plans to release the game for Nintendo Switch. While admittedly no console platforms have been confirmed at all, Cyberpunk 2077 will probably be too systems intensive for Nintendo’s less powerful hardware, so do not expect to see a Switch version.

What Do We Know About Cyberpunk 2077 ?

There was a sizeable gameplay reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 , and from that we learned quite a bit about the game. Unlike CD Projekt RED’s other games it will be a first-person RPG, similar in look and tone to Deus Ex but in many ways completely different. The futuristic setting of Night City will be fully open-world, with crowds of NPCs supposedly leading their own lives independent of any player action. There will be a Street Cred reputation system, and numerous classes and professions mostly taken from the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG that the game’s based upon.

While we know a decent amount about Cyberpunk 2077 , the one thing we don’t truly know is a release date. While we’re generally expecting 2019, especially as the main story is playable from start to finish, we should not be surprised if it slips to 2020.

Something New

Cyberpunk 2077 producer drops hints about possible Nintendo Switch port

Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be one of the biggest game releases in 2020, and CD Projekt RED isn’t ruling out a Nintendo Switch release.

The upcoming release will already be pushing the current-gen consoles to their absolute limits, but that doesn’t mean fans aren’t hoping it will be able to release on Nintendo’s hybrid console in one way or another.

Although The Witcher 3 was, and still is, a very demanding game on both consoles and PC, the developers found a way to strip it down enough to get it running on the Switch.

The game went through a major graphical overhaul, but it was able to keep much of what makes The Witcher a great game. All things considered, it’s a phenomenal accomplishment it’s even running in the first place.

Since the developers were able to work their magic once, fans are hopeful they would be able to do it again and get Cyberpunk on the underpowered device.

CD Projekt RED

In an interview with OnMSFT, CD Projekt RED’s John Mamais said there currently aren’t any plans for a Switch port, but doesn’t exactly say it won’t happen.

“I don’t know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on the Nintendo Switch. It might be too heavy for it,” he said. “But then, we did put Witcher 3 on it and we thought that would be too heavy too but somehow we pulled it off.”

On important fact to note is that The Witcher 3 released back in 2015, while Cyberpunk 2077 will be a 2020 title, so technology is going to be a lot more advanced than it was then.

That’s not to say a Switch version is impossible because we’re still seeing 2020 games like DOOM: Eternal receiving ports to the Nintendo device.

A port of Cyberpunk would most likely require a major drop in resolution and severely downgraded textures. Of course, that’s something players have proven they can live with if the Witcher port is any indication.

For the time being though, there are not any plans for a Nintendo Switch version of the game. However, as we’ve learned in the past, you can never say never.

Shyro Channing: So you Didn't List The Games Titles, that were coming out... Why bro? And why don't YouTube Gaming Vloggers just list the titles that they talk about, in comments, period? I mean a few do. But most don't. Ya'll can just be some lazy a** YouTubers, when it comes to the quite a few of the finner details. But absolute work - horses, when it comes to sourcing information & meeting uploading schedules. Which we do appreciate, believe me. However because of course, some of the spellings of game titles, are next to impossible to just guess. Like that beat-em -up you mensioned, which I tried to spell & Google's Search Engine, wasn't having it at all bro!. Even if you had simply added the game title names, to the video footage, then there wouldn't have been an issue, at all. But... 😔

fishcock: 7:41 Nothing "happened". They have a hard time sugar coating it and making excuses for the fact that they just blatantly lied.

Jack 4ss: You didn't spend enough time on current gen? Okay, but why would you cover up the broken game and pretended it was running well before release and then let the consumer buy it knowing that's it's broken? Dumb Ass CDPR!

Chris Toro: The PC version ain't perfect by no stretch, but it is worth the wait for a proper patch for console gamers.

julius: Cp2077 looks nice, but some of the mechanics are. ****** awful. Waiting for patches, but for now feels disappointed. Playing on series X

KING ICE J23: Retail stores that sell the system one at a time per person one system for one person. online retail should not sell to the same person this is not hard to do

Roody27 G: Definitely don’t think the government should step in and stop these bots. Easy to say since I have my PS five, but they are still making the sale so should they really care? One of my customers got his Xbox off some website for an extra $150 plus $50 for shipping. Can’t hate the hustle LOL

Ryan Kelly: Personally I’m not seeking refunds for the PS4/XBoxOne versions because I want the free upgrades to the inevitable current-gen versions so I might as well keep my licenses. I have the Stadia version to tide me over until the patches drop next year and honestly through my experience, the XBoxOne version running on One X is not that bad. I ran into some t-posing characters but nothing game breaking so far. It could be that running the game on an external SSD helps in my case but I can’t confirm other than faster loading speeds.

Ninjafire Mike: Cyberpunk should just focus on improving performance on the base consoles ps4 and xbox1 then focus on the new generation consoles and then pc.

lineman13: Get the government involved...that's a DUMBER idea then buying from the scalpers ! DON'T BUY FROM SCALPERS...duh
