Cyberpunk 2077 Receives Rating From ESRB That Mentions In-Game Purchases Despite Claims From CDPR

We’ve all listened in on the conference call that we originally covered on November 24, 2019, where the question of multiplayer, and how those costs would be covered. CEO Adam Kiciński stated that they are looking into various options in regards to monetization, perhaps including ‘well-thought-out’ microtransactions. The article was spread around on the internet, resulting in Adam Kiciński making a direct statement that ‘microtransactions’ were never mentioned in the conference call. I received a bit of heat personally for the article but held my ground with what I had reported.

Today the ESRB has finally rated the anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, and lo and behold, there’s a microtransactions statement included in the ratings.

There’s a bit of confusion in regards to the rating CDPR has received from ESRB; more so considering CDPR’s bold statement after the article that they aren’t even considering the possibility of microtransactions.

Twinfinite was able to get a hold of CDPR and ask them directly about the rating boards statement, to which they replied that the descriptor ‘in-game purchases’ is now required for games that may receive expansions in the future. SO CD Projekt Red is remaining adamant that they have yet to confirm the existence of microtransactions within Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s still likely.

The official stance thus far is that Cyberpunk 2077 will release with no microtransactions included, as stated by CD Projekt Red. The future expansions to the title will, more than likely, host some form of additional monetization in the form of in-app purchases.

So while we won’t be getting the bizarre experience of Shadow of War which hosted a plethora of microtransactions in a single-player game, it doesn’t appear that we’ll be receiving the same consumer-friendly releases that The Witcher 3 enjoyed, where multiple add-ons were free and the DLCs were robust and comprehensive in scope and execution.

Still, it also doesn’t seem entirely fair to CD Projekt Red to lump them together with more of the infamously-minded developers and publishers that host in-game purchases at every turn. As CD Projekt Red has a fair track record of making purchase fair and economical, right now that’s all fans have to operate with. In a time and era where precisely what a developer promises continues to wear thinly on consumers, I personally find myself willing to err on the side of catastrophe, empirical industry data discarded for this one singular developer. Time will tell if fans are right to continue to place faith in CD Projekt Red, or if everything will come to a screeching halt in Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 will either be sexy or incredibly awkward. One thing’s for certain: it’ll be graphic. The Entertainment Software Rating Board has published a description of what players can expect from the game, which is one of the year’s most anticipated releases. The on-the-box warnings include “Blood and Gore;” “Intense Violence;” “Nudity;” “Strong Language;” “Strong Sexual Content;” and “Use of Drugs and Alcohol.”

A first-person, open-world RPG set in the futuristic Night City, players will get into all kinds of mischief in their Cyberpunk adventure. Shootouts, stabbings, and dismemberments are hardly shocking, but there are plenty of surprises in the rating summary.

“Some locations depict mutilated corpses with open chest cavities and/or exposed organs/entrails,” the summary reads. “During one quest, players assist a character by hammering nails through his hands and feet; screaming sounds and blood effects accompany the scene.” Sounds like a crucifixion.

While choosing the player character’s gender expression and appearance, “customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.” The game will feature “brief” but explicit first-person sex scenes, including oral sex. It’ll also depict heavy use of fictional, “state-altering” drugs and the option to drive drunk.

“We really want to make a video game that’s really inclusive,” senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers told Metro last year . “You don’t choose your gender anymore. You don’t choose, ‘I want to be a female or male character.’ You now choose a body type. Because we want you to feel free to create any character you want.”

Games like Grand Theft Auto V and Wolfenstein: The New Order are among those that have used drug sequences and sex scenes effectively in the past decade; these things will always have a place in the medium. But it’ll be interesting to see how Cyberpunk 2077‘s anything-goes hyperrealism goes over with gaming audiences.

Cyberpunk 2077 ESRB Rating Reveals A Mature Game Filled With “Intense Violence”

Cyberpunk 2077 has been given an ESRB rating of ‘M’ for Mature in Noth America, PEGI 18 in Europe, and 18+ in Brazil and Australia surprising no one. We can get an understanding of just what is set to be in the game from the listing. Warning at some minor potential spoilers below.

According to the rating which can be seen on ResetEra, Cyberpunk 2077 can get pretty raunchy in its content. Blood and Gore, intense violence, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of alcohol are all reasons why Cyberpunk landed a Mature rating. However, any fan of CD Project Red will tell you these are nothing new to their types of open worlds.

Because of how transparent the rating board has to be with why they rate games we have a greater understanding as to what type of mature content we are getting. Prostitution, sex shops, and sexual assaults are all prevalent in this game. While this may not come as a surprise it does shed some light as to the state of Night City.

While we wait on more details from Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red announced that the game’s DLC will be announced before the game releases. The team also shared some details on Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5, including how they need to wait for Sony to unveil its next-generation system.

Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing on September 17, 2020, for PS4.

Cyberpunk 2077 ESRB Rating Reveals Genitals Customization, Sexual Encounters, & Violence Aplenty

Today the ESRB published its detailed rating for the upcoming RPG by CD Projekt RED Cyberpunk 2077, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect.

Home » News » Cyberpunk 2077 ESRB Rating Reveals Genitals Customization, Sexual Encounters, & Violence Aplenty

Today the ESRB published its detailed rating for the upcoming RPG by CD Projekt RED Cyberpunk 2077.

The descriptors include pretty much everything you can expect from a Cyberpunk game, including blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol.

Below you can read the full description, including customizable genitals, and all the violence and sex they can put into a game without getting an “adult-only” rating.

“This is a first-person RPG/shooter in which players assume the role of a mercenary named V trying to make their way through the open-world of Night City. Players can explore futuristic locations, interact with citizens, perform missions, and engage in combat to complete various objectives within a storyline.

Characters use handguns, machine guns, rifles, and explosives during frenetic firefights with humans and cybernetically enhanced enemies; players can also use melee weapons (e.g., wrist-mounted blades, enhanced limbs) to stab enemies and, in some cases, dismember them. Combat is frenetic, with frequent gunfire, cries of pain, explosions, and blood-splatter effects. Some locations depict mutilated corpses with open chest cavities and/or exposed organs/entrails.

During one quest, players assist a character by hammering nails through his hands and feet; screaming sounds and blood effects accompany the scene. The game contains nudity and sexual material: Players can select a gender and customize their character; customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.

Players can encounter events where they have the option to engage in sexual activities with other main characters or prostitutes—these brief sex scenes (from a first-person perspective) depict partially nude characters moaning suggestively while moving through various positions. Some scenes contain brief depictions of thrusting motions; other scenes depict a character’s head moving towards a partner’s crotch.

The game contains frequent depictions and references to fictional drugs, including characters taking puffs/hits from a state-altering inhaler/stimulant; an animated billboard ad depicts a man snorting speed. Some sequences allow the player to drink alcoholic beverages repeatedly until the screen distorts; player’s character can also drive cars while drunk. The words “f**k” and “c*nt” appear in the dialogue.”

We also see “in-game purchases,” even if we don’t really know what they will entail. We reached out to CD Projekt RED to see if we can get some clarification about this.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and it has recently been delayed to September 17, 2020. It has also been confirmed for Xbox Series X down the line.

Cyberpunk 2077’s ESRB rating describes customizable genitalia, possible crucifixion

Cyberpunk 2077 is headed in some interesting directions

Share All sharing options for: Cyberpunk 2077’s ESRB rating describes customizable genitalia, possible crucifixion

Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be out until September of this year, but the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has released a few details about what we can expect from the game while we wait.

  • Blood and Gore
  • Intense Violence
  • Nudity
  • Strong Language
  • Strong Sexual Content
  • Use of Drugs and Alcohol

The ESRB also puts together a summary explaining each rating. This summary often includes details about the game, some of its missions, or the various activities and shenanigans that players can find as they play. There’s shooting, and blood, and guns, which all checks out. But then things get more interesting.

The ESRB describes a mission where you “assist a character by hammering nails through his hands and feet,” and also mentions that the game includes drugs, both real and fictional, and depictions of their use.

Then there’s the sexual content. “The game contains nudity and sexual material,” the ESRB states. “Players can select a gender and customize their character; customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.”

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Sept. 17, with an Xbox One X version coming at a later date.

Cyberpunk 2077 ESRB Rating Details Its Explicit Character Creator

Given CD Projekt Red’s past works with The Witcher and its sequels, it should come as no surprise that the studio is continuing to push the limits of ratings boards with its latest game, Cyberpunk 2077.

The ESRB has released its rating of the upcoming cyberpunk RPG, granting it a “Mature” rating with a very descriptive breakdown. The blurb mentions the game’s in-depth character creator which, aside from letting you define the standard anatomical attributes, lets you go as far as determining the definition of your character’s genitalia. The rating continues by detailing several scenes with strong sexual content, all of which will be in a first-person view.

The rating also mentions several scenes in the game depicting excessive violence, including one instance where “players assist a character by hammering nails through his hands and feet.” There are also notes on numerous fictitious drugs and alcoholic drinks that are available for purchase in the game, all of which will induce some effect on your character. You can read the full ERSB rating excerpt below.

CD Projekt Red is confident that Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on September 27 despite the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, and are planning to show the game off in June during what would’ve been E3 week. Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and has already been confirmed for Xbox Series X as part of its Smart Delivery program.

ESRB Rating Says Cyberpunk 2077 Lets You Fiddle With Your Diddle

If you are my parents please do not read this post.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has issued its preliminary judgement of CD Projekt Red’s forthcoming futuristic action adventure blockbuster, Cyberpunk 2077, and in doing so has revealed some previously unknown details regarding the game’s suite of character customization options. Specifically, players will be able to give their character the fully personalized bepis, vajaybo, pebis, pachislo, and/or bongo dingus of their dreams.

“The game contains nudity and sexual material,” according to the ESRB’s Rating Summary. “Players can select a gender and customize their character; customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.”

Yes folk, you read that correctly. “Various sizes and combinations” of customizable genitalia. The mind positively bristles with possibilities. Is it unnecessary? Absolutely. Will its implementation be overtly sexualized and gross? Almost certainly. And yet, this is the first thing that anyone has said about Cyberpunk 2077 that genuinely piques my interest. What are the limitations of this system? Do I start with a “standard” option (fake idea, btw) and then work from there, or is there some kind of foundational Ur Genital from which to extrude my own variations? How many protrusions am I limited to? Entrances? Exits?

Are there options for layering? Can I go for complete minimalism and have a cloaca? Can it be prehensile if I want, or double-jointed? Are there options for RGB lighting effects? Will Cyberpunk 2077 feature an in-game companion app to help me manage and maintain my brand-new King Ghidorah? What if I’m not getting the performance that I expected from my chromed-out squiggle’s supercharged intake valves? Will I have access to performance telemetry? Can I test out new modifications in a wind tunnel before applying them? Is liquid cooling an option?

Is my new blooper limited to the placement options available in real life, or can my character experience a world of pleasure and utility heretofore unknown by humans, thanks to the advent of some kind of shoulder-mounted genitalia platform? What if I want an End of Evangelion situation involving the palms of my hands and my forehead? Can I have two butts — the traditional arrangement plus a second, even wobblier one up front — and no genitals at all? Are there options for fully retractable and/or internalized configurations? Can I put a USB-C port on the end so I can charge my damn phone? What finishes are available, aside from the aforementioned chrome? Can I opt for carbon fiber inner fins but keep the enamel finish on the outer ones?

And hell, we haven’t even started to talk about sound options. You know I’m gonna want a standard headphone jack, I don’t care what anybody says about the quality of Bluetooth audio, it’s just not there yet. What options do I have for integrating my own sound effects? Can I just slot in an SD card with some ogg vorbis files or do I have to use some kind of proprietary app store? If so, can I pay someone to have them jailbreak my bingle-bongle? This is Cyberpunk 2077 after all, there’s bound to be all sorts of illegal black market diplo enhancements. Can I use it to mine cryptocurrencies when it’s not doing other stuff? I have so many questions.

Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Have Microtransactions Despite ESRB Mention

Share

The complete ESRB rating for Cyberpunk 2077 makes its first appearance and fans lose their mind over the possibility of it including microtransactions. Thankfully, CD Projekt RED is quick to clear the air, dismissing all worries about its “character”.

The Cyberpunk 2077 rating includes an “In-Game Purchases” section that heated up things about the possibility of its referring to microtransactions. CD Projekt has made clear that the game includes no microtransactions, so it comes as a surprise for ESRB to state that. The company came forward to confirm that there are no microtransactions in Cyberpunk 2077 and this is only a legal statement. Apparently, ESRB has the obligation to inform players of purchases even if it means that the game will get expansions in the future. So don’t be alarmed, you won’t need to spend a dollar on in-game loot, cosmetics and such.

CD Projekt RED will release several expansions after Cyberpunk’s 2077 release but no microtransactions. Those will be similar to those of The Witcher 3 and will be mostly story-relevant. As you might already know from their previous major title, the expansions will be big, full of new content, and NPC to meet. There are also hints that the company will announce those DLC before the release of Cyberpunk.

The news won’t stop there. CD Projekt RED apparently has something big to show us on June 11, as they’ve posted a teaser for some upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 news on Twitter. Could it be more gameplay or a story trailer showing some more characters? We recently saw a leaked screenshot of CD Projekt RED’s upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 has started to guess that a second Cyberpunk 2077 celebrity actor may be portraying a villain. Could this be the announcement?

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on September 17th on Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia and will include no microtransactions. Next-gen editions are also in works, although CD Projekt states that they won’t be available at Xbox Series X and PS5 launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been Rated As Mature By The ESRB While Revealing Multiple Sexually Explicit Scenes

Bits and pieces of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming uber-hyped title Cyberpunk 2077 are already well known, if sporadic. Yet today, the ESRB has pulled back a relatively small curtain that discusses the metaphorical bits and pieces of characters within the action-flavored RPG. The ESRB has officially released the rating of Cyberpunk 2077 and it’s revealing some wildly explicit sexual scenes and options that players will interact with during their time in Night City. If you’ve been considering picking this up for a younger gaming hobbyist, this brings about a good time to reconsider.

In ESRB’s 283-word summary of the many offerings of Cyberpunk 2077 reveals that there’s far more to do than simply run around completing quests. While combat takes nearly half of the summary, going into details in regards to the various firearms and melee weaponry that is readily available to the player-character, it also espouses more disturbing scenes: mutilated corpses, a scene where the character seems to be crucifying an NPC, and enough blood splatters to paint the screen a couple of times.

Along with the scenery comes the standard audio of combat; cries of pain, attempting to survive through severe trauma, and even visceral dismemberment are all present in the title that ESRB reviewed. The particular points that have the internet so interested are, of course, relating to the apparent promiscuity that the title offers.

✅ Customize your genitals
✅ Torture scenes
✅ Sexual activities with prostitutes
✅ Sex scenes in first-person
✅ Drive cars while drunk #PlayStation4 #PS4 #PC #Gaming pic.twitter.com/SR4KzjxsIv

Upon entering the game, players will be able to customize their characters; the protagonist for the story. The customization includes the gender, along with the…accoutrements that are typically involved with gender. This involves altering both the size and shape of the accoutrements that can come into play later, during sexually explicit scenes that the protagonist can involve themselves with while there is audible moaning in the background.

ESRB noted that while the camera never allows the scene to reach a level of outright pornographic content, they’re walking perilously close to that line; generalized thrusting of characters as they alter between various positions in ‘brief sex scenes’ that are shown from a first-person perspective.

Finally, and something that may come as a bit more expected, the ESRB notes that there are copious drugs and alcohol referenced and used throughout the title by NPCs and the player character both. The player even has an option to drive immediately after drinking, driving past billboards that show a man snorting uppers.

In spite of all of this, primarily the sexually-charged scenes, CD Projekt Red has skirted by with a Mature rating, seemingly narrowly avoiding the Adults Only rating that, at one point in the past, was a death-sentence to video games. It’s certain that this game is one of the few that appear to be catering exclusively to adults.

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Lets Players Customise ‘Size And Combination’ Of Genitals

Published В 2:01 PM ,В Wednesday May 06 2020 GMT+1

We’ve known for a while that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a pretty in-depth RPG. We also know that the game will have a bevy of customisation options unrestricted by gender, allowing players to build exactly the kind of character they want. What we didn’t know until today is that the upcoming sci-fi adventure will boast a detailed suite of customisation options for your genitals.

You read that right. According to the recently released ESBR rating for Cyberpunk 2077 (thanks, VG247), the M-rated game will let you choose the size of your private parts. More than that though, it sounds like you’ll also be able to choose between various combinations of genitals. I wouldn’t say no to a tiny tush, myself.

Cyberpunk 2077 / Credit: CD Projekt RED

“The game contains nudity and sexual material,” the ESRB rating reads. “Players can select a gender and customize their character; customization can include depictions of breasts, buttocks, and genitalia, as well as various sizes and combinations of genitals.”

While the immature schoolboy in me is inclined to have a good giggle at this, it’s also seriously great to see CD Projekt RED committing to a diverse range of genial options. If there are going to plenty of nude and sex scenes (which is very much the case), then every player should be able to see themselves represented. That’s what an RPG is all about, right?

Indeed, the ESRB rating goes on to describe those first-persons sex scenes that we’d previously heard about. These scenes will apparently include a healthy does of oral sex, in which we see “a character’s head moving towards a partner’s crotch”. Sounds like a pretty good start.

The player can also have sex with “other main characters and prostitutes”, though not Keanu Reeves, as previously established. All of this lines up with Brazil’s recent classification of the game as 18+. They referenced “intense sexual relation”, “nudity”, “prostitution”, “sexualization”, “sexual language”. “Sexual pleasurement”, and more.

Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077

Outside of the steamy stuff, there’s also plenty of violence, drug use, and general nastiness. Expect to see “suicide”, “cruelty”, “intentional death”, and the alarmingly phrased “exposure to death corpse”. I have no idea what that last one means, but believe me when I tell you I’m frightened to find out.

You can read up on the full ESRB rating right here, but I think the main takeaway is that you definitely shouldn’t invite the vicar round to play this one.

Cyberpunk 2077 ESRB Rating Describes Body Customizations and Explicit Scenes

ESRB has rated Cyberpunk 2077 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Their rating goes in-depth in the various adult material and mature themes available in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been rated Mature M17+ by ESRB. The game has received a similar Mature rating in Brazil and Australia. CD Projekt Red is taking quite a lot of adult themes in their brand new game including “Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, and Strong Sexual Content.”

On Twitter, CD Projekt RED boss Adam Badowski revealed that the developer has sent Cyberpunk 2077 to be age rated at boards such as the ESRB and PEGI. The age rating boards could leak a few more details about the game before it’s released in September. New PS4 and Nintendo Switch games have been leaked by a rating board in the past, and the ESRB rating for The Last of Us Part Two confirmed details about the game.

Badowski also said that the development team is now “polishing technical aspects and playtesting” Cyberpunk 2077. The game is “looking better and better with each passing day,” said Badowski. This is wonderful for fans who had concerns that the game could potentially be delayed again. It has been years since Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced, but it increasingly looks like it’s going to be ready for September.

Fans also hope that CD Projekt RED will soon be ready to reveal more Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay. The developer has confirmed several features about the game, such as some of its different weapons and missions, but fans want to know more about characters and what Night City will offer them.

Some are looking for more information about the confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Series X release. CD Projekt RED has said that it wants to release the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game first, but if things are going well with development, it may be ready to share more.

The developer could potentially share more about Cyberpunk 2077 at the Xbox Series X event on March 18. That hasn’t been confirmed but if the game is nearly ready for release, this could be a good way for CD Projekt RED to show fans the game again.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases September 17 on GeForce Now, PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with an Xbox Series X version also in development.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sent To Rating Boards — No More Delays

Cyberpunk 2077 has been submitted to several rating boards around the world, meaning that the highly anticipated game will suffer no further delays.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, studio head Adam Badowski stated that the developer will continue to polish the technical aspects while waiting for a rating — understood to be M for Mature. He also added that Cyberpunk 2077 looks better than ever and further play-testing should iron out any remaining issues.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally confirmed for release on April 16, 2020. However, additional development time was needed to ensure the game to be “a crowning achievement” for the current generation. While confirming Cyberpunk 2077 to be at a stage where the game is complete and playable from start to finish, the massive scale of the in-game world forced CD Projekt Red to delay the release to September 17, 2020. Sending the game out to rating boards now ensures that development is reaching closer to completion.

The delay, though, also forced other projects to be pushed back. These include the multiplayer component of the game, which was previously slated to arrive roughly a year after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 but will now land somewhere next year. Any chance of the game releasing with multiplayer on the first day has been thrown out. Whatever elements that CD Projekt Red will be working on in the coming months will have little to do with online support.

As such, Cyberpunk 2077 remains on schedule for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The release will also accompany GeForce Now, the new cloud gaming platform of Nvidia, on the very first day. CD Projekt Red is making sure that players interested in streaming the shadowy alleyways of Night City are not ignored.
