How to build a gaming PC for Cyberpunk 2077

We don’t have official Cyberpunk 2077 system requirements yet, but these PCs should do the job well come September.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most highly-anticipated games in recent memory, and as with all new open world games, you’re going to need a capable gaming PC if you want to crank every graphical setting to the max. Plus, you wouldn’t want to skip on Keanu Reeves’ texture quality—he deserves the best.

Open world games are typically more taxing on PC hardware than others, and Cyberpunk 2077 will also take full advantage of ray tracing to simulate Night City’s neon lighting and reflections—if you have the right graphics card, anyway.

Here we’ll go over some part suggestions and general advice for building a Cyberpunk-ready PC. The good news is that with the game now delayed until September, you have some time to formulate your plan.

Build a Cyberpunk 2077 PC with ray tracing support

We have an entire post explaining what ray tracing is and how it works, but long story short, ray tracing involves tracing the path of a ray (a beam of light) within a 3D world. This allows lighting, reflections, shadows, and other effects to look more realistic than they do with traditional rasterization rendering techniques.

To take advantage of those graphical effects, you not only need a graphics card capable of ray tracing, but one powerful enough to do it while delivering a decent framerate at your chosen resolution. We’re still waiting on AMD to release a ray tracing GPU, so for now, you’re limited to Nvidia’s line of RTX graphics cards (and Nvidia is working directly with CD Projekt Red on ray tracing support). That includes the RTX 2060, 2060 Super, 2070, 2070 Super, 2080, 2080 Super, and 2080 Ti. By September, it may even include future Nvidia Ampere RTX 3080 cards (or whatever they end up being called).

The exact hardware requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 haven’t been revealed yet, but we can make an educated guess on what kind of hardware you’ll need. If you want a PC that can handle Cyberpunk 2077’s fancier graphical features, you’ll want at least a mid-range PC with an RTX 2060 Super or RTX 2070 graphics card. Technically, even an RTX 2060 would suffice, but it likely won’t maintain a steady 60 fps and may need some settings turned down a notch or two.

Here’s a sample parts list for a PC with an RTX 2060 Super, which should be fine for playing games with ray tracing at 1080p (or 1440p with DLSS). The total is around $1,200:

  • CPU:Intel Core i5-9600K
  • CPU Cooler:Noctua NH-U12S 55 CFM
  • Motherboard:Gigabyte Z390 UD ATX
  • RAM:G.Skill Aegis 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000
  • Storage:Samsung 970 Evo 500GB NVMe SSD
  • GPU:EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB SC Ultra
  • Case:Cooler Master MasterBox NR600
  • Power supply:Corsair CXM 550W 80+ Bronze
  • OS:Windows 10 Home 64-bit

This is a good build, though if you add around $100 to upgrade to an RTX 2070 Super, and buy a larger 600W power supply to accommodate it, you can be even more secure—those upgrades are especially worth considering if you’ve got a higher refresh rate 100-144Hz monitor or expect to completely max out the graphics settings.

The RTX 2080 Super and 2080 Ti are even more powerful cards, but they don’t offer the same price-to-performance as the cheaper models—you pay a lot more, for only modest increases in performance in most games. If you’re wondering, compared to the 2070 Super, the 2080 is only about 4 percent faster, the 2080 Super is 13 percent faster, and the 2080 Ti is up to 30 percent faster (mostly at 1440p or 4K).

You might also want a faster CPU, or at least one with more cores and threads. The i5-9600K probably won’t limit performance with a 2060 or 2070 Super, but an i7-9700K (or i7-9700KF) would be safer, for about $100 extra. You could also opt for a Ryzen 7 3700X, though you’d also need a different motherboard like this MSI X570-A Pro.

Buying a pre-built PC from a maker like iBuyPower or Alienware makes things simple: just look for one with an RTX 2060 Super or better, 16GB RAM, and a recent Core i5, i7, or i9 processor. If you’re looking for specific suggestions, check out our roundup of the best gaming PCs.

Building a PC yourself will save money, though you won’t get the same service warranty and it’s up to you to install fancy cooling and LED lighting if you want it. Our PC building guide explains the basics, and PCPartPicker is a good way to ensure that your components are compatible with each other.

Skip the ray tracing and save money

You can go without an RTX graphics card, and Cyberpunk 2077 will still look pretty. It’s difficult to know which corners we can cut here, since exact system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 are unavailable, but we can speculate based on Red Dead Redemption 2’s requirements—since that is also a new open world game. The specs used for the E3 2018 Cyberpunk 2077 demo also give us some clues, though that was running an early build of the game that may have been less forgiving to budget PCs.

Here’s a slightly-modified build that should still be able to handle Cyberpunk 2077 comfortably (at least at 1080p and 60 fps) while keeping the price under $1,000:

  • CPU:Intel Core i5-9400F
  • CPU Cooler:Noctua NH-U12S 55 CFM
  • Motherboard:Gigabyte H310M A 2.0
  • RAM:G.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000
  • Storage:Crucial MX500 500GB
  • GPU:XFX Radeon RX 5700 8GB
  • Case:Cooler Master MasterBox NR600
  • Power supply:Corsair CXM 550W 80+ Bronze
  • OS:Windows 10 Home 64-bit

For this build, we’ve swapped out the overclockable Core i5-9600K with a cheaper Core i5-9400F—the ‘F’ means it has no integrated graphics, which we don’t really need on a PC with a graphics card anyway. It also has a less feature-packed motherboard, a SATA SSD instead of a faster (and more compact) M.2 NVMe drive, and a cheaper Radeon RX 5700 graphics card.

The GPU we’ve chosen here is still twice as fast as the Radeon RX 480—the minimum recommended graphics card for Red Dead Redemption 2—so it should handle Cyberpunk fine without cranking every setting up.

How to get deals on PC parts before September

Monitors, keyboards, mice, and headsets

Starting from scratch? Below are our buying guides for monitors, keyboards, mice, and headsets:

You can afford to wait for sales before purchasing all your parts for a Cyberpunk-ready PC—the game itself is set for release on September 17, 2020. While you won’t be able to jump on any Black Friday deals, Amazon’s Prime Day sales are typically held in July. It’s also not uncommon for PC parts to go on deep discounts outside of major sales, if you keep an eye out.

So what’s the best way to keep tabs on PC part sales? Well, for one, you can check our Hardware section once in a while—we sift through hundreds of sales and post about the best ones we find each day.

If you have a specific part you’re waiting to nab on sale, there are a few services that can monitor product listings and notify you when the pricing changes. Honey and Keepa are two such services. Start tracking the components you plan to put in your build now, and by September you’ll probably have saved a little money.

CD Projekt Red reveals PC specs that powered Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019

Cyberpunk 2077 had a visually spectacular demo at E3 2019, leading many players to believe it’d be impossible to run on their own hardware.

Well, CD Projekt Red has provided some context to the discussion by unveiling the PC specifications used to power the show’s 50-minute gameplay demo.

Reported by Spieltimes, the system used to run Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019 boasted the following specs:

  • CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
  • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15
  • GPU: Titan RTX
  • SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2 PCIe
  • PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

We can feel our wallets burning already if Cyberpunk 2077 ends up being this demanding upon its April 2020 launch.

Although, we imagine plenty of optimizing is yet to happen on the hardware front. It will also be launching for PS4 and Xbox One, offering 4K support on higher tier consoles.

CD Projekt Red revealed during the year’s biggest gaming show that Cyberpunk 2077 will take advantage of ray-tracing technology with Nvidia RTX graphics cards. That is, if your rig can handle it.

We had a chance to see Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019 and came away impressed once again by the ambitious RPG. Here’s a snippet from our preview :

‘Cyberpunk 2077 continues to look like a phenomenal RPG experience, with CD Projekt Red keen to push forward benchmarks in open-world design, storytelling and the importance of creating your own character.

Night City is V’s to help grow, destroy or eventually come to call their own, all through decisions the player makes. Of course, it’s all bark and no bite at the moment – but we know CDPR has the chops to pull this off.’

I also had a chat with one of the game’s art directors, discovering that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t limit players by gender identity, offering plentiful customisaton options when it launches next year.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch for PS4, Xbox One and PC on April 16, 2020. Are you excited for it? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter @trustedreviews.

Cyberpunk 2077 PC Requirements: What are the System Requirements?

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the world’s most anticipated games, and we just got our first look at Cyberpunk 2077 proper in a 48-minute gameplay demo. Naturally the gaming world is still buzzing about it, but what kind of system specs did the PC build running that demo have? For that matter, what are the Cyberpunk 2077 PC requirements in general? We’ll do our best to answer, but remember that the game is still a long way off and anything can change.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Demo PC System Specs

The PC running the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo was undoubtedly a monster, to get that much detail out of the game. Remember, it’s not only one of the most advanced games of this generation (or the next one) running at its best, the game’s not even optimized yet so will need very decent PC system specs. On the game’s Discord channel, Junior Community Specialist Alicja Kozera kindly provided those specs:

CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz
MB: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2 PCIe
PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

That’s definitely a monster PC, especially with the Solid-State Drive, but this will definitely not be the PC you need to play it when the game comes out.

What Are the Cyberpunk 2077 PC Requirements?

At the moment there are no official Cyberpunk 2077 PC system requirements, for the very obvious reason that the game is probably nowhere near finished despite the story being in a playable state. However, do not expect to need a PC as powerful as the demo build, because not only was the gameplay demo unoptimized, it’s the game running at maximum settings. CD Projekt RED will need to account for lower-end PCs too, not to mention consoles.

Hopefully we’ll get a release window for Cyberpunk 2077 soon, as well as the correct PC requirements. Until then we’ll just have to make do with watching the gameplay demo over and over again until it comes out or until the heat death of the universe. Whichever comes first. Hopefully the former.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay, Pre-Order and System Requirements

“Cyberpunk 2077” is a neon cyberpunk game “The Wizard 3” Developer CD Project Red Transformation of a gritty fantasy world as an equally sinister science fiction world metropolis. Cyberpunk 2077 is a game and developer of “witches” of very different series. With its towering neon skyscrapers, bionic enhancements, and a vertical movement focused instead on the vast levels of focus. This is also the perspective of the first person.

CyberPunk 2077 was launched in 2012 and is a sci-fi action RPG in the context of first-person shooter games. This is also the first AAA game released by CD Project Red in 2015 after the release of “Witcher III: Wild Hunting”. The original “Cyberpunk 2020” Pound was founded by Mike Smith (Mike Pondsmith). Located in Northern California’s anti-utopian era, post-capitalism and technology invaded all forms of daily life. Although the Cyberpunk 2077 is not a direct redevelopment of the pen and paper game. He can close on many of his concepts, prototypes, and storylines.

CDPR said in a hidden message in its 2018 E3 Trailer that they started working shortly after completing the Blood and Wine DLC of Hunting. With the Cyberpunk 2077 you can play games without killing anyone. This is a great feature for people who want a bloodthirsty, role-playing V. Games are not always so planned. After receiving the feedback from E3 2018, CDPR has spent some time adding nonfatal options to almost all weapon and network software upgrades.

Story of Cyberpunk 2077

The Cyberpunk 2077 story tells the daily life of a corrupt and huge metropolis on the California Free State Night Market. Over time, you may receive Street Cred, earn points, and acquire new weapons and cybernetic enhancements. Such as remote hacking, improved optics, and Mantis Blades (visible from the forearm). However, when you reveal your existence, you attract the attention of others who want to use their unique abilities to serve their purposes. The main backdrop of Cyberpunk 2077 is a bustling metropolis. Technology has an irreversible impact on the lives of its citizens.

From the beginning, you have many night cities to explore. Whether you’re on foot or by motorbike , driving, or taking a train through the city, you can travel through the city and its many neighborhoods. While some areas are not fully accessible, some areas are closed, but you can explore many places. However, different areas of the city are set within a certain cap, and there is no level-scaling in the game. Although you can explore these areas and try to contact the gangs who control the area, it is best to avoid them until you are fully prepared. A gang named Maelstrom, who looks like a Neongul, uses powerful weapons to move outside the Pacific. If the “night city” is as beautiful as some of the first areas we saw in early gameplay, then we seem to take risks.

Lead Character

The story of Cyberpunk 2077 revolves around V, a liar whose follow-up journey to the night city was created by you. V is the person you want, and your choice determines their position and status in the night city. In addition to gender options, favorite pronouns, ethnic backgrounds, and personal styles, you can also select their backstory. Including why they’re taking you to the city, or whether they’re locals. Although V will start with low-level migrants in the game. They will eventually deal with the notorious gang leaders and corpo agents, uncovering larger conspiracies and jeopardizing them. But as they divulge more secrets of the city. They will connect to unexpected allies. Some of whom have appeared in the wind for decades. In the demo for E3 2019 we first got to know the cyberspace view of 2077.

V (Character)

As a digital domain where citizens have escaped from reality, cyberspace has always been the main content of computer punk novels and becomes a space to be explored in games. This area is also crucial to the plot of the game. For unknown reasons, V’s brain implants are the key to one of the most popular secrets of cyberspace.

During the E3 2019 demo, we noticed the flexibility of Building V. If you want, you can even play deadly customs games for the game. For this reason, quiet methods are usually the best way to invest in features and upgrades that focus on hackers and stealth to avoid all aspects of the hostile operating environment (such as cameras). However, if you want to shoot, you can invest in points to improve the handling of armor and weapons. In addition to cybernetic improvements, you can also accumulate a large number of dangerous weapons such as submachine guns or electric hammers. The new weapons and abilities you receive will have a big impact on your playing style.

Cyberpunk 2077 Game Demo

One of the most amazing details we learned from Cyberpunk in 2077 is that it’s an ego game. After the fans heard the news, they had a clear and strong protest and many people expressed disappointment. When you look at the game demo, almost the entire action remains in the first person’s perspective, including the sequence of conversations, fights, and general reconnaissance that is invisible during vehicle segmentation.

Can my computer run Cyberpunk 2077?

By Cliff Henjum June 17, 2019

Cyberpunk 2077 pretty much won E3 2019 with its full trailer and introduction of Keanu Reeves being an important character throughout the story, so now it’s got everybody asking “Will my PC be able to play Cyberpunk 2077?” At first glance, the game looks absolutely breathtaking, but so far we’ve only really seen cutscenes so it’s difficult to fully predict the end result of the graphics capabilities. CD Projekt Red gave the community a lot of information about the upcoming title, but the official system requirements are yet to be released.

Cyberpunk 2077 is being developed using the latest version (4) of REDengine which was also used for popular titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Although The Witcher 3 released in 2015, and Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t releasing until 2020, we can still use its system requirements as a basis for predicting the upcoming requirements for Cyberpunk 2077. While it’s a huge jump from the GeForce GTX 770 recommended GPU requirement, we believe that the minimum GPU for Cyberpunk might be somewhere closer to the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. This is a huge jump in GPU power, but with what we’ve seen from the E3 videos/trailers, it is plausible that players will need an epic computer to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077.

We will continue to update this page as the release date of Cyberpunk 2077 approaches. Stay tuned for up to date system requirement information.

Advance sale of Cyberpunk 2077

Advance sale of games is a convenient and sure way to get a game at the time of its release. It is not worth postponing the purchase in time, because often top productions sell out of stock and it is difficult to get them in standard sales right after the premiere.

Initial Cyberpunk 2077 PC Requirements Are Extremely High

Demo Ran At 30 FPS

Cyberpunk 2077 was shown off at E3 2018 and it is a game that we have been waiting for a long time now, so it was nice to get a look into what the game is going to be like. We have some new information regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 demo and it seems that the initial requirements of the game are pretty high.

The demo at E3 2018 was running on an actual PC and the game was using an Intel 8700K, which is a 6 core 12 thread CPU. We are not sure whether or not the CPU was overclocked but we do know that the system was using 32 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti which is the top of the line consumer graphics card on the market right now.

While these specifications are enough to run games at 4K 60 PFS, Cyberpunk 2077 was only running at 30 FPS. This is not a final build of the game and the development is far from over so do not take anything away from this information. CDPR has a lot of optimization to do but keeping in mind how well Witcher 3 runs on consoles as well as PC, you can rest assured that the game will be pretty good across the board.

The initial impressions of Cyberpunk 2077 are very good and while there is a bit of backlash from the fans regarding the decision to make the game first person only, I think that things will sort themselves out in the end and that if the game is good then people will overlook such small things.

We have been waiting to see more regarding Cyberpunk 2077 for a long time now and the game might not be coming out till 2020, but at least we have a look into what the game is going to be like and the stage is set for a very dark future indeed. But then again, pretty much all futuristic movies have a dark theme, so this game is not much different. Plus we have not seen the game yet. Things could be very different when we play the final version of the game.

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ E3 build used a hefty PC, but can your system keep up?

It’s safe to say that CD Projekt Red’s latest game Cyberpunk 2077 has impressed critics at E3 2018. The first-person role-playing game surprised us with its perspective, world, and combat, and we ended up awarding the game our Best in Show prize for the entire event. If you want to play the game on PC with the detail and fidelity on display at E3, however, you’re going to need a pretty powerful rig.

CD Projekt Red revealed the PC specifications used during its E3 2018 demonstrations in the Cyberpunk 2077 Discord, and replicating them won’t be cheap. An Intel i7-8700K GPU at 3.7 GHz was used, as was a GTX 1080 Ti GPU — the latter goes for around $700 right now.

Also used were two 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4 RAM cards, which currently go for about $400 on Amazon in a two-pack. An Asus Rog STRIX Z370-I served as the motherboard, and a Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD was also installed. Lastly, a Corsair SF600 PSU powered the rig, and sells for a little over $100.

These specifications are all far beyond what CD Projekt Red recommended for its 2015 game The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. That role-playing game needed only 6GB of RAM and a GTX 770 GPU with 2GB of VRAM in order to run at optimum performance.

With Cyberpunk 2077, however, CD Projekt Red is capable of running the game at much more impressive settings, and it has us wondering if the game is actually going to also release on the Xbox One and PlayStation, or if it’s secretly being developed for their successors.

Speaking to Game Informer, quest designer Patrick Mills said that his studio is still targeting Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and the game was featured at the tail-end of Microsoft’s Xbox One conference during E3.

If the next-generation consoles are just a few years away, we hope Cyberpunk 2077 also releases for them, as we would like to get an experience similar to what high-end PCs can offer. Of course, by that point, the specifications provided above will seem like nothing. It’s a never-ending chase for a perfect machine that will never exist, but perhaps the chase is more important than the finish line.
