“Easy Mode” for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Should Exist

The new FromSoftware title has been the center of discussion on whether or not games should have an “easy mode” or more settings for accessibility.

Demon’s Souls. Dark Souls. Bloodborne. Sekiro. When you hear these titles, if you have any sort of fascination with gaming, you know what they connote: Difficult. FromSoftware games are famously hard. Whenever there’s a new release in the video game industry and its difficulty is a foundation of its DNA, say like Celeste from 2018, a common sentiment is that these titles are “the Dark Souls of…” fill in the blank. These FromSoftware games have gained their reputation of being difficult by purposely being vague on what to do and how to best accomplish it while also featuring relentlessly unforgiving fighting mechanics. Or how about the fact that there are no difficulty settings? Millions love this about FromSoftware’s titles. Regardless of how much you’re struggling with a boss or certain enemy, there’s no way to change that setting to assist you. What if there were people who wanted to participate with these titles but either physically couldn’t due to a condition or someone simply wasn’t skilled enough? Would FromSoftware want to exclude that revenue or reachability by simply wanting to not have the reputation of their games change? The Japanese developer unquestionable has its supporters for keeping the games the way they are and nothing has changed with their new release of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. But with the release of Sekiro, the conversation around FromSoft’s accessibility in their games has resurfaced stronger than ever.

Sekiro is my first ever FromSoft game and I’m loving it. I’m just under four hours and I can’t wait to play more. My ass is being absolutely handed to me but I wouldn’t want it any other way. But that doesn’t mean someone else would want that while still wanting to experience what Sekiro, Dark Souls, or any of what FromSoftware will develop, has to offer. What is the big downside of implementing some basic settings that can be turned on and off from the menu to assist gamers who struggle with the game? You can still leave the default settings to have it be how the game was intended to be played. Hell, throw a warning or disclaimer on the settings whenever you change it to disclose that changing these settings are not the way the developers intended the game to be played.

The only argument I’ve seen is that implementing these accessibility settings, whether it’s for someone who has a disability or is simply struggling with the game, takes away from the experience and the community it builds around FromSoft games because of their difficulty. I believe this sense of community will only continue and be stronger if FromSoft were to put in accessibility settings to make the game easier for players, whatever the reasoning for wanting the difficulty edged, thus bringing more players in to see the game and be able to converse about it. When myself or others say there should be levels to how hard you want it to be, we aren’t suggesting making it a one-button-push baby game. It would be to assist in the way the game is played. Say button prompts for when to dodge or defend or how about slowing boss fights down a certain percentage? And the most important part about all of this is, the settings would be completely optional. It’s solely for anyone who wants to experience the game while also having some assistance.

Video games are art, made for everyone who wants to participate. Just think if a piece of art was created and it happened to get displayed somewhere only where people with two functioning arms and legs could reach it to see it. Think about the art enthusiasts who might not fit that description and yet still would want to see it. Should the artist not consider making it more accessible so more people could view it, thus giving the artist more of a financial incentive as well in the process? I’m never one to fall in with the “inclusion” crowd these days on things, but I think in this scenario of video games, it’s more of a benefit to all, including the current communities of FromSoftware games, to have a game be as accessible as possible.

Die Entwickler bekommen tagtäglich Feedback von den Erfahrungen aus dem Witcher-Universum und den Programmierungs- und Entwicklungsschritten aus dem bereits veröffentlichten Spiel.

Der jetzige Zeitpunkt stelle bei CD Projekt jedoch einige Herausforderungen, denn es werden Änderungen an den Dev-Tools vorgenommen, die für Cyberpunk 2077 genutzt werden. Neue Features und auch die Visual Effects stehen bei diesen Tools im Vordergrund, an denen die Änderungen gemacht werden. Teixeiras Äußerungen lassen daher vermuten, dass der Science Fiction-Titel nachwievor in der Konzeption ist und die Entwicklungen noch nicht begonnen haben. Bisher ist der Titel in den kommenden vier Jahren geplant. Ob dies jedoch immer noch so ist, sei dahingestellt, denn im Gegensatz zu früheren Aussagen und den Jobangeboten bei CD Projekt, die derzeit auf der offiziellen Seite ausgeschrieben sind, wäre dieser Konzeptionsstand ein deutlicher Rückschritt zu dem, wie es bisher angenommen wurde.

Cyberpunk 2077 is hotly-anticipated and it looks like fans won’t have to wait too much longer to get another look, in some form or another. Today, the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account shared a new image for some kind of event called Night City Wire. This event is set for June 11, 2020.

It’s unclear exactly what Night City Wire entails right now. It could be a gameplay video, a new trailer, both or something entirely.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently scheduled to release on September 17, 2020. There’s a Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One X bundle, as well as a standalone controller. Cyberpunk 2077 supports Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X, meaning if you buy the Xbox One version, you’ll get a free upgrade for Xbox Series X when it becomes available.

Cyberpunk 2077 stands in solidarity in the fight against racism by delaying their June 11 event

In the wake of the George Floyd case and the political-social situation in the United States, many video game companies are putting off their plans for these days. Sony PlayStation is one of the most famous cases, but now CD Projekt with the expected Cyberpunk 2077 is also added. Last month a special program called Night City Wire was dated June 11, but finally, its managers have made the decision to broadcast it on the 25th of the same month.

“We are looking forward to sharing new information on CP’77, but right now there are more important talking points and we want them to be heard. We stand firmly against racism, bigotry, and violence. Black lives matter, ” reads the statement. has shared via Twitter.

Night City Wire was proposed as an alternative to the space that would have probably been allocated to the game at E3 2020 if it had been carried out. The Polish team has not specified what kind of news will be included in the broadcast, but it is expected that a new trailer, details, and of course, gameplay material will be presented. For now, we will have to settle for the news that comes up in the Summer of Gaming.

Cyberpunk 2077 is already in its final stage of development and is preparing to land in stores on September 17. We will be able to play it on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia, and in the future, it will reach the new generation of consoles through, at least, Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, CD Projekt celebrates a great financial start to 2020 and extraordinary sales. for its latest major release, The Witcher 3.

It’s all kicking off, folks. The whole industry appears to be waking up from its coronavirus-induced coma, and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red is apparently no different. The game’s official Twitter account is teasing something called ‘Night City Wire’, which will take place on the 11th June.

It’s reasonably safe to assume that this’ll be some kind of development update, or perhaps we’ll be getting a look at some fresh gameplay. In any case, consider us excited. We’ll be sure to update this article if we learn anything more.

Robert’s been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he’s not practising combos, he’s usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y’know, replaying The Witcher 3.

I was half expectant some ‘new’ look at the game on Thursday during MS’s 3rd Party gaming event. Maybe we will see some on Thursday with an ‘extended’ look and/or alternative way to attempt the same sequence – depending on the skills and abilities you have selected – one a stealthy approach and one a more direct approach perhaps.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cyberpunk ‘Night City Wire’ also goes deeper into the RPG elements, the upgrade system, customisation etc. I still expect to see something on Thursday as its one of MS’s biggest 3rd Party game partnerships.

@BAMozzy Maybe Im dumb and just don’t understand. But how is this one of MS biggest 3rd party game partnership, when the game is on like 3-4 different platforms of this gaming generation,and im not even counting the platforms of next generation.

@hulkie In the same way that Call of Duty is one of Sony’s biggest 3rd Party Partnerships. It doesn’t matter the fact a game is on multiple platforms, MS will be the ones advertising and having their brand associated with Cyberpunk – they will also be selling the Cyberpunk custom Xbox One X and Custom Controller too and the game will be shown at MS’s press conferences – not at any other platform – even though it will be releasing on other platforms – again – just like CoD, just like Monster Hunter or Ace Combat too for Playstation.

Assassins Creed: Valhalla is also a big 3rd party franchise for Microsoft too and will be one of the games that MS will be showing off as well. Just because these games are releasing on multiple platforms, they are partnered up with MS for all the marketing and if E3, Gamescom etc were going ahead, these games would have been at MS’s show.

This time though we are switching genders and taking a look at the recently announced Female V Suit figure. The best weapon in ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ is a glowing orange garrote

Nanowire is the Swiss Army garrote of the future. The glowing orange thread is simple yet multifunctional, slicing through skin, muscle and bone like a whip. Or, it flings from the wielder’s wrist like an electric snake to jack into the side of someone’s head and hack their brain to bits.

Nanowire is one of the latest weapons revealed in Cyberpunk 2077, the new game from The Witcher studio CD Projekt RED. It’s due to come out on April 16th, 2020, complete with Keanu Reeves in the supporting cast.

No one outside of CD Projekt RED has actually played Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but it’s made a significant appearance at E3 for the past two years. Developers sit down in a packed, dark theater on the second floor of the Los Angeles Convention Center and play through a 50-minute chunk of the game, live, narrating the experience as they go.

This year, the demo kicks off deep in Night City, a transhumanist mecca between San Francisco and Los Angeles. V, the customizable protagonist, is picking up a new mission to infiltrate a dilapidated compound on the edges of society. The area was once destined to be a paradise resort town for the ultra rich, but the global economy crashed and every corporation pulled out of the project. Now, the towering concrete hotels and malls sit in clouds of dust, windowless and draped in ripped banners. Even the police have stopped coming here.

V meets up with Placide, the interim leader of a gang that controls the unregulated, unincorporated city. They walk past makeshift food stalls and hang-out spots, with habitants talking amicably to Placide along the way. The gangs of Night City may be brutal, but some of them are pillars of support in their communities, developers remind the room.

Placide and V talk, revealing rich dialogue trees that change depending on which specialty players choose to equip. This V is a Netrunner, which grants him special hacking and tactical abilities, and he comes from a corporate background, meaning he has additional conversation options in white-collar situations. Neither of these skills help him with Placide, who hacks into V’s brain so he can monitor the mission in real-time.

V is tasked with taking out the Animals gang, a group of bulbous, muscle-obsessed bodybuilders and fighters who use the latest technology to bulk up. As a Netrunner, V sneaks around the compound, stealthily taking down lookouts and hacking his way past groups of Animals. His patience pays off. V observes a room for 10 seconds or so, and then remotely takes control of a boxing robot, making it punch an Animal in the face so hard that he falls to the floor, bleeding. He spots someone preparing to use an electronic bench press and hacks it, crushing the muscly dude beneath in a spurt of blood and gurgles.

Sasquatch is the leader of the Animals, and even in a hideout filled with gargantuan humans, she’s clearly ultra-powerful. A glowing purple substance sloshes around in a tube on her back, granting her extra strength as well as immunity to damage and pain. V shoots out the tube, dodging swings of her giant hammer, and takes her out with a few rounds of his rifle.

In fights with hordes of Animals in subsequent rooms, V uses offensive hacking techniques — he takes over a turret, making it shoot Animals instead of him. He hacks Animals’ robotically enhanced limbs, making one pull a grenade on himself. And then he pulls out the Nanowire, flinging it across the room to connect with an enemy’s head, frying his brain. That same wire shoots out like a whip, too, flaying and sliding through limbs like butter.

Throughout the demo, Keanu Reeves’ freshly revealed character, a cyber ghost whose image glitches in an out of focus, provides snarky commentary and charmingly aloof vibes. The 50-minute peek closed out with V sinking into an ice bath and plugging directly into cyberspace, transporting her consciousness to a black void striped through in neon blue and red, vague forms of people darting from place to place in rapid glides. There, she’s introduced to the black wall, a mysterious point in the ‘net that has claimed the lives of every traveler who’s stepped beyond. Apparently, V is going to be the first explorer to return.

I’ve seen two hours of Cyberpunk 2077 at this point, and one conclusion rings out loud and clear: This game is dense. These contained slices contain dozens of layers of customization and control, from skill trees to upgrades to individual dialogue choices, allowing players to craft a tailor-made tour through Night City. For now, though, the only way we’ve seen Cyberpunk 2077 is how CD Projekt RED wants us to, with carefully scripted playthroughs in a shockingly reactive and living world.

All I’m saying is, when I’m in control of V, I’ll use the Nanowire a lot more.

I do hope you’re not serious..
Cyberpunk is a genre thats been around for decades.

I am serious and I just meant, this movie has a lot of similar aspects, and not in a, I thought of that and it’s kinda like yours, it’s exactly like yours, the woman with the claws that are exactly like the cyperpunk2007 poster, come on’ I’m not saying it’s a bad thing I’m just saying, maybe movies these days are getting ideas from games..

Just like games have been getting ideas from movies. Just like how ReSpawn said they were influenced by a lot of movies for making the game Titanfall, Avatar as one of the movies he said was an influence..

Just like Halo developers Bungie back in the day said, the Alien movie by James Cameron was a huge influence.

So I’m just saying maybe this movie had a huge influence from Cyberpunk 2077 because some of the ideas in the movie are straight out of that game, and if you can’t see that, well then ok, I can’t help you.. and that’s fine, you don’t see it, you don’t see it.
