Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack

With the game due out in April 2020, acclaimed video game studio CD PROJEKT RED this week shares information regarding the soundtrack for Cyberpunk 2077 . Courtesy of a behind-the-scenes video, we get a look at a number of artists contributing to the upcoming title.

A$AP Rocky, Grimes, and Run The Jewels have all recorded music for Cyberpunk 2077 , in addition to Refused (portrayed as SAMURAI in the game), Gazelle Twin, Ilan Rubin, Richard Devine, Nina Kraviz, Deadly Hunta, Rat Boy, and Tina Guo. Press play on the video underneath to see what various participants had to say about being involved with Cyberpunk 2077 .

Not only is Grimes featured on the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack, but 31-year-old musician is also getting her own in-game character, Lizzy Wizzy, a pop star in the Cyberpunk universe. Subsequently, Grimes recently performed her song “4ÆM” live at The Game Awards 2019. You can check it out below.

Cyberpunk 2077 , a role playing action-adventure video game set in Night City, comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack Described As “Hardcore Electronica”

Any game that takes place in a punkish future needs a punkish soundtrack, and the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack apparently fits the bill nicely, going by the words of its composers. CD Projekt RED drew in talent from all over this sort of genre, and they’ve each brought their talents to the game.

The three composers include veteran CD Projekt RED composer Marcin Przybylowicz, who composed for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, P.T. Adamczyk, who composed for Far Cry 5 and the film Loners, and Paul Leonard-Morgan who composed the music for the films Dredd and Limitless.

Leonard-Morgan’s skillset in particular appears to fit the niche for Cyberpunk nicely, especially considering the subject matter for Dredd, which takes place in the horrifically impoverished and socially unstable world of the Judge Dredd comic book anti-hero.

In a setting like Night City, where the game’s 2018 reveal trailer said that crime and violence, along with a gap between the rich and poor, was at an all-time high, many players who are familiar with Dredd or the Judge Dredd world in general may be familiar with the similar atmosphere of Megacity One.

The Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack doesn’t necessarily go the exact same way as Dredd, but CD Projekt RED and the composers did user its style as a starting point. However, even with the Polish, Russian, and American varieties of synth going on, the soundtrack also has an element of humanity to it.

Since the cyberpunk genre is mainly about how people can stay human even as they replace more and more parts of their body with machines, having the music also be able to reflect the human condition is a big requirement, in a similar manner to classic science fiction movies like Blade Runner.

We’ll be able to see just how the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack sounds when the game releases on September 17 of this year for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack feat. Run the Jewels, Grimes, ASAP Rocky, more

By Sam White, Friday, 13 December 2019 16:13 GMT

Cyberpunk 2077’s soundtrack sounds amazing.

In a brand new deep-dive trailer, developer CD Projekt Red announced some of the huge artists that have had a part in putting together the soundtrack for Night City. Have a look (and a listen) below:

The set list includes incredible rap duo Run the Jewels, Swedish punk rock band Refused, pop singer Grimes, electronic composer Gazelle Twin and rapper ASAP Rocky, the latter of which recently received a suspended prison sentence for assault in Sweden.

There are several other artists, too, all of which are creating original music for the game:

  • Ilan Rubin
  • Richard Devine
  • Nina Kraviz
  • Deadly Hunta
  • Rat Boy
  • Tina Guo

It’s an eclectic mix that creates a heavy, grungy, industrial sound full of rap, hip-hop, electronica and punk. Perfect for a seedy futuristic city with very little law enforcement. The trailer also reveals that Refused will be recording the music for the game’s fictional band Samurai, who Keanu Reeves will front as the character Johnny Silverhand.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set for release next year, on April 16th, and will be available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia.

Cyberpunk 2077’s soundtrack is all about style over substance

A game may look good, but those visuals mean nothing if there isn’t some solid audio driving the action forward. Crafting music in a video game is often a thankless task, as the job of creating a symphonic atmosphere is rarely noticed by fans when it’s done right, while the sound of silence speaks volumes when the job is done wrong.

Think Skyrim’s rousing score that made you feel like a true dragon-slaying badass, or for a more recent example the stirring orchestra that made Spider-Man feel like a true hero in his own game last month. These are the audio cues that drive a project forward, and Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be any different. Cyberpunk 2077 is obviously leaning towards a more techno beat for its musical backdrop, but it’s not solely reliant on just the sound of synthesisers and assorted beeps to tell its not so subtle story.

“So, the atmosphere is obviously very important. It’s crucial for the game in general but what we are trying to do actually is not to ring that dystopian bell too much,” Cyberpunk 2077 composer Marcin Przybyłowicz said to Gamer Pros.

It’s obviously going to be there somewhat, that dystopian element, in the music as well. But, as everyone has already seen, because recently this almost 50-minute gameplay was published so, everyone can see how Cyberpunk 2077 looks now, at the moment. So, everyone can see that our game is cyberpunk-inspired with our twist basically.

Also, in terms of visuals, in terms of atmosphere, in terms of narrative, in terms of attitude also, it’s not all about the, you know, gloomy guy in a trench coat drinking bourbon or whatever in a bar talking about how shitty of a day he had, or talking about how his ex-wife is ruining him because he’s divorcing her or whatever, and by the way he also has this case and he doesn’t know how to crack it.

We are trying to show that cyberpunk doesn’t have to always be all about a rainy night and depression, that at least is how I understand cyberpunk. Also, having experience playing Cyberpunk 2020 in high school, I think this game is all about the attitude in terms of atmosphere. So, I am trying to reintroduce punk with the music to our project. It doesn’t mean we would have Sex Pistols playing all the time, for example, in-game because it’s still supposed to be 2077.

But what I am trying to nail down is this atmosphere of having both, basically. Having certain attitudes towards everything in the world because the most important thing, for me at least, in Cyberpunk 2020 , the pen and paper version, was one sentence: Style Over Substance. So, it wasn’t the most important thing in the paper version of the RPG to… win or lose, for example.

It was all about the style of doing that thing. Okay, you may die or you may lose but at least you do it with style. So that’s what I’m trying to do with the music. I’m trying to inject this feeling into the narrative, or help the narrative with highlighting certain elements of the music to make players feel that.

I dig that. If you’re looking to nail the idea of being a punk, it’s all about the right attitude in my opinion. Blazing your own path, saluting the man with a middle finger and not being tied down by the establishment. With a game that looks very much like it wants to give players a certain sense of personal freedom, having a soundtrack that ties into that anti-authoritarian vibe is an absolute must.

Attitude, independence and making your own way in a merciless future. Should be interesting to see and hear what CD Projekt Red imagines life to be like in a few decades.

Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack Will Include The Best Of Both Worlds

After the release of a new trailer for CD Projekt RED’s new IP, all fans have been wondering about the Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack. According to the company, the soundtrack for the game will include elements from both “worlds”: Cyber and Punk.

When talking about a Cyberpunk setting and the music to tie it to perfection, a mix of electronic, rock and something more specific like retrowave seems like the way to go. However, CD Projekt RED has revealed through the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer that they’re introducing a more powerful and unique soundtrack, fitting the game like a glove.

Over the past weeks, the official Facebook page for Cyberpunk 2077 has been replying to fans’ questions over the game. A fan has revealed the answer the team gave him regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack on the game’s subreddit. Interestingly, the company has arranged something special for the upcoming game, combining Cyber and Punk to create the perfect mix. The answer reads:

We’re marrying “Cyber” with “Punk” – these are our two main pillars for music direction. “Cyber” centers around the sonic texture of the score – our sound palette is raw, dirty, synthesized, sometimes even futuristic. “Punk” is all about the attitude of music – rebellious, ballsy and impulsive.

Night City shimmers with colors and so is the music – we’re not limiting ourselves to one specific genre. Instead, we’re drawing from all sorts of styles to craft a unique mix that drives the narrative and provides additional layers of context to the story.

Given the vastness of the Cyberpunk 2077 world and the fact that each of its districts will have its own “ecosystem”, we expect the Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack to adapt to those accordingly.

Cyberpunk 2077 has no stated release date yet, but it will release on Xbox One, Playstation 3 and PC “when it’s ready.” Until then, here are seven confirmed features for the game that will make you jump on the hype train instantly.

Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack Features A$AP Rocky, Grimes, and a Variety of Other Artists

Clearly, Keanu Reeves is not the only big name participating in Cyberpunk 2077 . In crafting the title’s soundtrack, CD Projekt RED also enlisted help from stars in the music industry. During The Game Awards 2019, a brief “Behind the Music” video showcased the artists who contributed to the tunes that will be heard throughout Night City. This includes the likes of A$AP Rocky, Grimes, and Run the Jewels.

See the full “Behind the Music” video below:

The brief behind-the-scenes look includes nearly a dozen different artists, all teasing what their sound will bring to Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City. For now, it remains unclear whether these are all of the contributing music artists. Those who appear in the video are as follows:

  • Run the Jewels
  • Refused
  • Grimes
  • A$AP Rocky
  • Gazelle Twin
  • Ilan Rubin
  • Richard Devine
  • Nina Kraviz
  • Deadly Hunta
  • Rat Boy
  • Tina Guo

It’s an eclectic list, meaning the sound of the future will remain incredibly diverse. From hard rap and punk rock, to tunes on the softer side of things, it seems as though the soundtrack will offer something for everyone. And, of course, Music Director Marcin Przybyłowicz, who worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , sits at the helm, bringing his own renowned flavor to the mix.

Hopefully, as the game’s spring release date draws near, CD Projekt will unleash more details about the OST. Based on the little that’s been teased, it could be something well worth waiting for.

Cyberpunk 2077 will finally hit stores for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One early next year on April 16, 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack Features Grimes, Run the Jewels, A$AP Rocky, and More

We’ve known for a while that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to have an expansive soundtrack that features multiple artists, and thanks to a new trailer which aired at The Game Awards 2019, we now have a lot more information.

CD Projekt Red’s upcoming role-playing game will play host to the likes of Grimes, Run the Jewels, A$AP Rocky, Gazelle Twin, Ilan Rubin, Richard Devine, Nina Kraviz, Deadly Hunta, Rat Boy, and Tina Gul. They all join previously announced Swedish rockers Refused, who take on the role of in-universe band Samurai.

All we know is that it must have taken bloody ages to pull all of this music together, but it should make for a special soundtrack.

Robert’s been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he’s not practising combos, he’s usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y’know, replaying The Witcher 3.

I’ve not heard of these artists before but I’m optimistic there will be a lot of good stuff in there.

Nope, never heard of any of them. Why can’t it have Black Lace, Bucks Fizz and Russ Abbot on it? That’d make it far more entertaining.

A$AP Rocky is one of my favourite artists yesssss!

I’d prefer some Depeche Mode and New Order.

Ill have the vehicle radio stations turned off then it seems! If thats even how music works in this game

Hold on there, you need to login to post a comment.

Hype for the upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077 has been steadily building since developer CD PROJEKT RED delivered a first peek over the summer. Not only does the futuristic open-world RPG just look freakin’ awesome, it features an impressive cast of celebrity contributors. Keanu Reeves stars as Johnny Silverhand, lead singer of the in-game band SAMURAI, whose music is brought to life by Refused. It turns out the Swedish punks aren’t the only musicians involved; Grimes has revealed that not only is she contributing a new song, “4ÆM”, to the soundtrack, but she’s voicing one of the characters.

Grimes announced the news at The Game Awards on Thursday night , during which she gave the live debut to “4ÆM”. In the world of the game, the track belongs to Lizzy Wizzy, a cybernetic pop megastar — whom Grimes happens to voice. Take a look at her performance below.

In fact, every musician featured on the soundtrack will have a corresponding fictional band or artist in Cyberpunk 2077 . While this doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be providing dialogue, they will be delivering brand new songs for digital performers. In addition to Grimes and Refused, contributors include Run the Jewels, ASAP Rocky, Gazelle Twin, Ilan Rubin, Richard Devine, Nina Kraviz, Deadly Hunta, Rat Boy, and Tina Guo. All of these acts talk about working on the game in a new video featurette, “Cyberpunk 2077 – Behind the Music”. Watch it beneath Grimes’ Game Awards appearance ahead.

Hopefully more songs from Cyberpunk 2077 will be revealed in the coming months. Otherwise, you’ll be able to hear them all when the game hits PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on April 16th, 2020. Pre-order your copy now.

Meanwhile, Grimes is gearing up for the February release of her long-awaited new album, Miss_Anthrop0cene. She’s so far shared the singles “Violence”, “So Heavy”, and “My Name is Dark”. That first track was named one of the best songs of the year, which has only heightened anticipation for the full-length.

The most anticipated game of 2020 is getting a soundtrack to match the hype, with Cyberpunk 2077 set to feature some of the biggest artists in the world.

Creators CD PROJEKT RED have revealed A$AP Rocky, Grimes and Run The Jewels are headling a varied list of artist who will feature in the game. They’ll be joined by SAMURAI, Gazelle Twin, Ilan Rubin, Richard Devine, Nina Kraviz, Rat Boy, Deadly Hunta, and Tina Guo.

The music itself seems to be a huge mix of soundscapes, with hip-hop, alternative, pop, electronica, industrial, and punk being the main genres of music helping shape the sound of the futuristic universe depicted in the game.

Check out some of the artist’s reactions to being involved in the game below.

Each artist that’s part of the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack will also have the incredible opportunity of starring in the game. So far we know Grimes will portray somebody known as Lizzy Wizzy while Keanu Reeves will voice the character of Johnny Silverhand, the lead singer of SAMURAI.

CD Projekt Red goes Behind the Music of Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 has a hype trailer for its soundtrack, now

CD Projekt Red released a behind-the-scenes video this morning to give fans a look at the making of Cyberpunk 2077’s soundtrack. Titled Cyberpunk 2077 – Behind the Music , the video includes short interviews with Run the Jewels, Refused, Grimes, A$AP Rocky, Gazelle Twin, Ilan Rubin, Richard Devine, Nina Kraviz, Deadly Hunta, Rat Boy, and Tina Guo.

While the video’s title clearly riffs on the now-defunct VH1 series, it’s a short clip with small soundbites from the artists that contributed to the soundtrack. It doesn’t even give fans much of a listen to the tracks included in the game. However, it does a solid job of keeping people on the hype train, which is exactly what these kinds of videos are for.

CD Projekt also released a video of Grimes (Claire Elise Boucher) performing at The Game Awards last week. Grimes performed 4ÆM live during the award show as part of her collaboration with CD Projekt.

Grimes’ performance was accompanied by a music video playing on screen behind her. The video was inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 , though it isn’t just made of in-game footage, which is a bit disappointing. But if you missed Grimes’ appearance during The Game Awards, this is certainly a nice way to catch up.

Grimes will be providing music for the game’s soundtrack, however, she is also lending her voice-acting talents to a character in the game called “Lizzy Wizzy.” Lizzy is, as you may have guessed, a pop-star in the world of Cyberpunk .

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on 16 April 2020 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The Google Stadia version will release later next year.

Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack will have Swedish band Refused playing as in-universe group ‘Samurai’

The Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack is bringing Swedish punk-rock band Refused on board. Refused will be the sound behind the in-universe band Samurai, which will have songs and logos spread throughout the game. Their original EP will encompass the greatest hits of Samurai, and one track, Chippin’ In, has been made available in select digital stores and streaming services.

A composer for the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack named Piotr Adamczyk came up with the idea to collaborate with Refused for the Samurai sound the game needed. CD Projekt Red Music Director Marcin Przybyłowicz secured the collaboration between the studio and the band. Przybyłowicz is “very happy” Adamczyk brought up the collaboration because of how well the sound turned out. In his words:

“…the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused deliver as SAMURAI have blown me away. I can wholeheartedly say the punk factor of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!”

The band’s goal is to create a “greatest hits” track for Samurai under the direction of Przybyłowicz. All of the writing, recording, and producing is a collaborative effort between Refused and CD Project Red. The original source material and overall feel of the game were said to be inspirations for the overall sound. Dennis Lyxzén, lead vocalist of Refused, discussed the creative process behind the EP:

“Like us, Samurai is a group of rebels, albeit in a different time and place. Working together with CD Projekt Red, writing music and song lyrics for Cyberpunk’s chrome rock icon was fun, but also very different in the creative sense. It was an unexpected challenge that turned out to be right up our alley and really got us going.”

If you watched the E3 cinematic trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, you’ve heard a bit of what Refused has to offer as Samurai. The band’s song Chippin’ In concluded the trailer and is now available on some streaming services and YouTube.

Cyberpunk 2077 Soundtrack Composer Revealed

While the game itself may be some way off, the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack composer has been revealed. Not surprisingly he was also the one who worked on The Witcher 3.

Marcin Pryybylowicz the Music Director for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has confirmed to Game Pressure that one of his new jobs will be as the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack composer:

“My superiors already force me to do it, because I spend most of my time with Geralt; however, some first attempts with Cyberpunk were already made.”

Before that though we’ll be hearing his work will be in Blood and Wine on which he commented on the soundtracks size:

“Definitely bigger than the one in Hearts of Stone . In the expansion it was around 40 minutes of in-game music; this one – since it’s going to be at least twice as big as Hearts – will need to have much more than that. I can’t tell you how much more, because I actually don’t know that yet. We work on that music all the time, everything is tailored and every quest gets a lot of love, so that it sounds well. I don’t know at which point we’ll stop.”

It will probably still be some time until we see more details about Cyberpunk 2077, unless we are lucky enough to see something at E3. Until then though at least there are signs that the game is now being worked on, even if it isn’t the priority just yet.

What are your thoughts on Marcin Pryybylowicz being revealed as Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack composer? Based on his work on The Witcher 3 is this good news? Let us know in the comments section below.

CyberPunk 2077 Soundtrack Will Be Composed By Witcher 3 Composer

‘Some attempts have already been made.’

Posted By Pramath | On 23rd, Feb. 2016 Under News

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was that rare game that had the ability to completely immerse players in its vast open world. A lot of that had to do with just how gorgeous the game looked- indeed, at launch, The Witcher 3 may have been the greatest looking game ever made. But not enough credit is given to the game’s musical score and soundtrack, which knew to stay out of the way, and enhance immersion with some excellent ambient tunes.

The good news is, we will probably see something of that sort again in the upcoming CyberPunk 2077 . CD Projekt RED are currently working away on their mysterious new project, and while we don’t know a lot about that, we do know that Marcin Przybylowicz, the director of The Witcher 3 ‘s soundtrack, will be composing the music for CyberPunk too.

“My superiors already force me to do it, because I spend most of my time with Geralt; however, some first attempts with CyberPunk were already made,” said Przybylowicz to GamePressure.

CyberPunk 2077 will be launching some time in 2017, or beyond. As of right now, CD Projekt RED have claimed that they do not have much to share about the title.

Datan0de: I think we can all agree that what the CP 2077 soundtrack needs is lots of Air Supply. ;-) In seriousness, in addition to a lot of the other suggested artists and styles mentioned here, I'd love to see Voivod on the soundtrack. It was always part of my "getting into the cyberpunk attitude" music back when I played the pen & paper RPG in college.

Lebkuchenmann83: The quality of your videos is sooo sick! It is almost, I look at you in person through a window....Oh, that sounds somehow weird :D

Atomic Grounds: As music is an important factor to punk, it's strange that people rarely talk about it. As for punk. Today's punk is nothing like 70's/80s punk, so the punk of 2077 will be different than today's. In the 80s punk was driven by anticulture and the rebellion. Today it's skateboard and fun. Nothing wrong with that. 2077s punk would be again about rebellion and riot. But with more electronics and will be more mainstream. Johnny Silverhand is a star bigger than the greatest of the great today. So 2077s punk would be more comercial, less garage. It would be great if there were "punk" (and not only) songs exclusively for the game. There are some bands out there that mix punk with pop which could do that. And maybe they do. As for "Chippin' in". I'm not convinced by this track, as it is everything but punk. That's glam rock mixed with grunge. Nothing wrong with that, maybe JS is a cyberglam rocker, not cyberpunk rocker :) And also, I hope the devs won't forget about other genrea of music, and that they also can be tweaked a little to fit the 2077 world. Classic music in cyberpunk? I'm in :) And BTW, I'm glad you're back :)

Chompy Said: Punk in the US right now is being on the right-center, or right. Counter culture is about capitalism, and love of your country versus socialism, and globalism. Even Billy Idol knows this, he legally became a US citizen recently and waved the US flag during the ceremony.

Selander: I like the Johnny Silverhand song in the apartment. CyberPUNK does not mean it has to be punk music. I'm hoping more for the sort of rock soundtracks we got in the 80-s movies lite The Wraith and Running Man. You know like: John Parr - Restless Heart/St Elmo's Fire, Robert Tepper - No Easy Way out, etc.

dreddbolt: Duuuuude. I'm starting to get heavy Perfect Dark vibes with the game, except the main character isn't necessarily always a spy. At one point, I actually went back and watched the demo trailer for the game, and I'm getting the cyber feeling of this rocking punk story in the best kind of ways. I like my punk Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, Flogging Molly, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Dropkick Murphys.

Roberto Zaniboni: Musics are all made by CDPR They take inspiration from Carpenter, Perturbator, Scandroid, ecc.. But no one is really involved in the project. The sound will be a mix between rock/hard n' heavy and sinthwave. Just listen the end of the gameplay

Traplord Hentaimaster: To me cyberpunk artist to me art Johnny jewel, cliff Martinez, John Carpenter, new order, health, CFC, vangelis, Can, talking heads, Brian eno, cluster, just a lot of heavy ambientish and synth music
