Producer Richard Borzymowski told GameSpot that CD PROJEKT RED are looking at how to implement New Game Plus while letting players keep the progression they have already built up.

Borzymowski said: “What I can tell you is we are looking into a suitable idea for implementing New Game Plus.

“If and how has yet to be seen and talked about.”

The CD PROJEKT RED producer added: “We’re looking for a way to ensure that you’re able to keep your progression, but are you still able to take a different path in order to see one of those parts hidden behind one of those actual choices?

“And we will probably get to something, but it’s too early to talk exactly how because we want to make sure that it fits Cyberpunk 2077.

Microsoft E3 2019 Press Conference: Cyberpunk 2077, The Outer Worlds, Wasteland 3

Game News – posted by Infinitron on Mon 10 June 2019, 01:02:59

With publishers increasingly opting out of full-scale press conferences in favor of more modest livestreams and Sony skipping out of the event entirely, Microsoft were left to dominate this year’s E3 by default. With their recent acquisition of Obsidian and inXile, tonight’s Microsoft press conference promised to be particularly relevant to Codex interests. In fact, The Outer Worlds was the very first game to appear, with a colorful but rather earnest anti-corporate trailer that also reveals that Dr. Phineas has been redesigned to look like less of a Rick and Morty ripoff. Wasteland 3 appeared later on with a light-hearted trailer featuring none other than Scotchmo from Wasteland 2, offering us an introduction to the wonders of post-apocalyptic Colorado and our first glimpse of real gameplay since the game was crowdfunded back in 2016.

Those of you who find the tone of these trailers objectionable will be happy to know that the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer played it completely straight. Well, and then there’s the part where Keanu Reeves showed up, because of course he did. It’s a direct sequel to the 48 minute gameplay reveal from last August but with the male protagonist, who appears to have gotten a visual redesign. Things don’t turn out so well for him, but Keanu makes everything better.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a larger development team than Witcher 3 did

Ambitious RPG Witcher 3 could be outscaled by the next release from its developer CD Projekt.

The studio has said via an interview translated on Neogaf that there are currently more game developers working on Cyberpunk 2077 than on The Witcher 3 in its most intensive month”.

Other details on the game remain scant, as they always have been. Indeed, the game’s social media channels have been quiet for a very long time.

The confirmation about the scope of development tallies with comments made to MCV last year.

Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before,” visual effects artist Jose Teixeira said. Far, far bigger. We’re really stepping into the unknown in terms of complexity and size and problems we encounter.”

Teixeira continued by saying that The Witcher 3’s scope had helped the studio to refine its open-world formula for Cyberpunk 2077.

“The Witcher helped Cyberpunk quite a bit, because the game got so big and so complex that it really taught us,” he explained. We really didn’t know what was going to happen.

If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it.

“I have a lot of things that I want to change and do better the next time around, and I can guarantee that almost everyone in that studio has something that they go ‘I did this this time, next time I can do it differently, I can do it better’.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo is a must watch

And why you should watch all 48 minutes

U nlike years prior, I’d decided to skip out on E3 2018 which resulted in me tuning out a majority of the event. This meant that for the weeks before the show and after it, I wasn’t giving it all my attention since I had a pretty good idea about the majority of unveilings that would take place. This decision ultimately led me to mostly miss out on Cyberpunk 2077 and the hype around the game, other than watching the short teaser that was released.

Now, for the first time since behind closed doors for the press at E3, developer CD Project Red, the studio behind the RPG series The Witcher, is giving gamers a glimpse of their in progress game.

That last sentence is something you’ll see over and over again in the 48 minute demo and it’s for good reason. We’ve often seen previews of games years before their release, only for their final version to look different without much of a reason given. In this instance, the developers are smartly putting their current game build into context and letting the audience know that their title is still quite early. That means that once Cyberpunk 2077 does arrive, it could differ visually and mechanically among other things from what’s being shown in this in depth video.

It’s also worth noting that, while the game has many FPS elements, it is first and foremost an RPG which becomes all that much more impressive when you begin to see the scope of the city they’ve built. That’s really why the 48 minute gameplay video is an absolute must watch — not only does it play through an entire mission, but it really helps convey how large of a game is being built here and the near endless options you’ll have available to you as a gamer.

Now a few things worth noting — Cyberpunk 2077 is a mature game, so expect to see violence, nudity, and no shortage of potty mouths. While the first two don’t bother me, the latter did. Now I’m not sure if I’m coming to the following conclusion because I saw a few takes on Twitter before having seen the 48 minute reveal or if I would have came to the same conclusion regardless but here it is — the swearing is a bit excessive and feels almost forced. Between the number of fucks and the usage of cunt, it’s almost as if the devs are trying their hardest to drive home how gritty this world is, which isn’t needed. I get we’re in the shitty part of city that’s already pretty shitty (see, I can use potty words too!) but the world already sells that. Now don’t take this as me saying they should strip swear words from the game¹ but instead that toning it down would go a long way towards actually making it more grounded.

Oh, and if at first, the narrator’s voice is a bit off putting, just give it some time. By the end of lengthy preview, it somehow felt right and not only did I want to hear more of what he had to say about the game, but see as well.

So sit back, fire up your favorite device, and see what all the hype is about and why Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be one promising mega RPG. Ultimately, none of us have any idea if the final game will be any good and when exactly it’s going to arrive, but bravo to CD Project Red for building such an ambitious game that’s been in development for at least five years.

Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Is Now Confirmed to Be in Development

The more the merrier.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will get a multiplayer mode sometime post-launch, putting to bed years of reports that it’s been in research and development.

Cyberpunk 2077 will launch in April with a single-player campaign only, but the studio announced on Twitter that a multiplayer mode will be added further down the line.

“As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer’s in the works,” it said.

“The plan for now is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action.”

1/2 Until now, the only thing we said about multi was that it was in R&D. As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer’s in the works! If you feel like lending us your skills apply:

The post links to CD Projekt Red’s recruitment page where eight jobs for a multiplayer team are listed, suggesting the mode is in very early stages. The roles include a design director, game designer, and a senior gameplay programmer.

As such there’s no word yet on what exactly Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer mode will look like. It could be combat-based in the vein of deathmatch lobbies or a battle royale, or the developers could decide to go down a shared online world route building something more akin to GTA Online – or they could throw out the rulebook and try something new.

Cyberpunk 2077 Details Its Gangs and Factions

By Tyler Fischer – May 12, 2020 08:57 pm EDT

When Cyberpunk 2077 releases via the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Google Stadia, it will transport players to Night City, a megalopolis where people are equally obsessed with three things: power, glamour, and body modifications. It’s a major urban area, home of many gangs and organizations fighting for power and influence. And of course, players will come across and interact with all of these different factions.

Using the game’s official Instagram account, Polish developer CD Projekt Red previewed the various gangs and factions players will come across during the game. From a blindly violent group that uses ultra testosterone and animal supplements to a faction that defends sex workers, Night City is full of different groups. Some hide behind their ideals. Others are simply bad news. And a few of them are pure evil.

Below, you can read more about the game’s various gangs and factions, which include the 6th Street, Voodoo Boys, Tiger Claws, Totentanz Club, Valentinos, The Mox, and the Animals.

Something New

Cyberpunk 2077 Doesn’t Use the Same Engine as The Witcher 3

CD Projekt RED reveals that Cyberpunk 2077 uses a different game engine to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and how it makes the game look better.

CD Projekt RED reveals that Cyberpunk 2077 uses a different game engine to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt reviews said that the game looked amazing, but to make Nigh City look incredible too, the developer had to change the technology it used to create Cyberpunk 2077.

Speaking to MCV UK, Cyberpunk 2077 producer Richard Borzymowski said that the developer wouldn’t be able to make Cyberpunk 2077 using the same engine as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Borzymowski said that the new game engine allowed the developers to make Cyberpunk 2077 first-person game, which also allowed the developers to create “the verticality of the various buildings and skyscrapers around the place.” CD Projekt RED has said that Cyberpunk 2077‘s skyscrapers may offer several missions for players to enjoy and so it wouldn’t be able to offer that without the new engine.

Borzymowski also revealed that the new game engine allowed the team to add “global illumination” to Cyberpunk 2077. The game will have a day/night cycle, but that doesn’t just mean changing the color of the game’s sky. There are two versions of Night City, and these are the daytime version and the version of the city at night. “You have the shader of the water dripping off, but this wouldn’t give you as big an impression as having global illumination as well,” said Borzymowski.

CD Projekt RED has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be smaller than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its story may be shorter. However, it also seems like the game will offer more things to do within the smaller space and there could also be many smaller things for players to see and do. This may be the way that the water looks when the light hits it at night, or the looks on NPC’s faces when the player character is talking to them. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may look good, but Cyberpunk 2077 could potentially look much better.

The reveal about the game’s engine may also make fans wonder if this is the reason why Cyberpunk 2077 has taken so long to develop. CD Projekt RED waited several years to release a new trailer for the game after it first announced it. If the game looks great and if it runs good too because of the new engine that CD Projekt RED has created, fans probably won’t be so upset about the development time.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Talk RED Engine Innovations, Promotion, & More; September Release Unchanged

Today CD Projekt RED released its consolidated annual report for 2019, and it included relevant information about Cyberpunk 2077.

Home » News » Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Talk RED Engine Innovations, Promotion, & More; September Release Unchanged

Today CD Projekt RED released its consolidated annual report for 2019, and it included relevant information about Cyberpunk 2077.

First of all, we get to take a look at the relevant revenue and income figures, which shows that the popular developer has made quite a lot more money in 2019 than it did in 2018.

You can check out the full table below.

We then hear once again the confirmation by way of president and CEO Adam Kiciński that the whole team has been working from home for a while, and the Coronavirus situation has caused no major disruptions, so the plan to launch Cyberpunk 2077 in September remains unchanged.

“Since mid-March we have been working from home, while ensuring continuity of all our of operations.

Our goals haven’t changed; first and foremost, we intend to release Cyberpunk 2077 in September. We feel motivated and have the necessary tools at our disposal to meet this goal. “

Unsurprisingly, it appears that the game is receiving a lot of attention on social media.

“As the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 draws closer, the game’s o!cial social media profiles are attracting ever more attention. The number of people following Cyberpunk’s Twitter doubled in 2019, reaching 700 thousand, while the social YouTube channel attracted over 300 thousand additional subscribers, reaching a total of 750 thousand subscribers.”

We even get a comparison between the audience of major trailers for the game compared to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

We then learn that in the initial period of pre-orders, approximately one-third of all Cyberpunk 2077 digital PC pre-orders were made on CD Projekt’s own GoG platform.

Interestingly, CD Projekt believes that Cyberpunk 2077 may entice more gamers to try The Witcher series as well.

“The most significant factors shaping the current results of the CD PROJEKT Capital Group include the popularity of previously published games set in The Witcher universe, as well as – in future periods – the progress of development and market reception of the Company’s new releases, including Cyberpunk 2077 and further products.

To-date enthusiastic reception of the Studio’s new product by gamers and experts alike suggests strong potential of the brand, both in terms of PR and commercial appeal. Commitment to product quality, maintaining the pace of the Cyberpunk 2077 marketing campaign, PR activities, hype management and fostering community relations are all important aspects of the game’s anticipated market success.

In addition, global recognition and popularity of the Cyberpunk 2077 brand may entice gamers who are not yet familiar with The Witcher games to seek access to the Company’s earlier products.”

On top of that, the technology and know-how acquired by developing Gwent are considered “strategically important” for the development of the multiplayer edition of Cyberpunk 2077.

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is the first multiplayer game developed by the CD PROJEKT Group in which CD PROJEKT and GOG collaborate to jointly create new technological solutions while extending their knowledge and experience in terms of provisioning online products. These technologies and know-how are strategically important for the Group and its future development and publishing capabilities, particularly in the context of the previously announced work on the multiplayer edition of Cyberpunk 2077

We also hear about the fourth generation of CD Projekt’s RED Engine, which includes “new solutions which will be employed for the first time” in Cyberpunk.

“Work on the fourth generation of REDEngine involves, among others, development of new technologies co-financed under the GameINN umbrella (part of the Intelligent Growth Operational Programme). The Company secured funding for these projects in 2016 and they successfully continued throughout 2019”
