Night City, California. Year 2077.
The world is broken. MegaCorps manage every aspect of life from the top floors of their sky-scraping fortresses. Down below, the streets are run by drug pushing gangs, tech hustlers, and illegal braindance slingers. The in-between is where decadence, sex and pop culture mix with violent crime, extreme poverty and the unattainable promise of the American Dream.
You are V, a cyberpunk. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.
Cyberpunk 2077 Will Enable Us to Personalize Our Genitals
The American age rating organisation ESRB has rated Cyberpunk 2077. The title’s in the database entry also reveals that the character’s personalization options will include the ability to adjust the appearance and size of genitals.
Cyberpunk is definitely not one of the science fiction genres recommended for younger players. So no one was surprised by the recent reports about the content of Cyberpunk 2077, which would apparently suffice for several 18+ games. More details are revealed by the entry in ESRB‘s database, which rated the game M for Mature (i.e. for people aged 17 and over).
In fact, the description of the American agency repeats everything we have heard from other sources. So we have significant sexualization, mutilated corpses, blood and clearly visible presence of drugs, etc. What is new is the mention of a certain drastic scene involving nails, which, to put it mildly, would in itself justify the earlier information about “violence”. However, the most interesting mention concerns the character creation. Players will be able to adjust the gender of their avatar, which includes the choice of breasts, buttocks and genitals in different shapes and sizes.
This description may confirm previous reports on this element of character creation. Already after the E3 2019 presentation, CD Projekt RED mentioned about including options for transgender people. Subsequent interviews even suggested removing the option of choosing between a man and a woman, but the creators soon explained that it was a simple expanding the editor in this area. It resulted from the fact that the sex of the protagonist is not determined by the choice of a particular option, but by physical traits. This was confirmed by Max Pears, the game’s level designer, in September 2019: players will be able to freely combine male and female voices and silhouettes, although the genitals will be defined by a specific body type.
It is no secret that the Polish developer is keen to faithfully convey the dirty cyberpunk vibes (to pull the players beyond their comfort zone), and this picture would not be complete without reference to gender ideology. After all, in the world of free cybernetic implants and modifying one’s own body, gender is as relative as morality or humanity.
Fortunately, we can expect Cyberpunk 2077 to do more than just shock with drastic and controversial scenes. Other sources confirm that the Poles do not skimp on dialogues, and there is no reason to doubt that they will maintain the excellent level known from the latest Witcher. However, confirmation will only be given after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 17 (and later on ninth generation platforms). For now, we would like to remind of yesterday’s announcement of Night City Wire, which hopefully may bring us a presentation of the game next month.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of 2020 and if you’re a fan of themed accessories, it looks like CD Projekt Red and Xbox have you covered. A listing for a Cyberpunk 2077-themed Xbox One controller has appeared on Amazon Canada, with multiple detailed pictures that make it clear this isn’t a mistake. It’s also definitely an Xbox One controller, not an Xbox Series X controller, given the lack of a share button.
You can take a look at the controller below:

The release date on the listing says it’ll be available on May 4, 2020. While there’s not been any official announcement yet, it seems likely that the controller will be revealed sometime soon, whether through an event or blog post.

Cyberpunk 2077 Deal Lets Players Pre-Order At A Discount
For those who plan on pre-ordering CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game, Amazon has a deal that lets players get the console versions at a discount.
Following an impressive showing at E3 2019, it’s safe to say that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most highly anticipated games of next year. And now, thanks to a deal on Amazon, players can pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 for $10 less than usual.
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on Amazon for PS4 and Xbox One for just $49.99. Those interested will want to act fast, as we don’t know how long the game will be available on Amazon for that price. Unfortunately, the Cyberpunk 2077 PC version isn’t on Amazon, so this deal only applies to console players. However, for those looking to play Cyberpunk 2077 on console, this may be the best deal they’ll get for the game before launch.
Beyond launch, Cyberpunk 2077 players have even more content to look forward to. For example, we know that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a multiplayer mode, though it won’t be in the game at launch. That’s because CD Projekt Red hasn’t even started developing Cyberpunk 2077‘s multiplayer mode, instead opting to focus all of its resources on developing the single player experience first.
It’s unclear exactly what CD Projekt Red’s plans are when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077‘s multiplayer, so we don’t know if it will be added to the game as part of a free update or a paid expansion. However, we do know that paid expansions of some kind are on the way, with CD Projekt Red comparing them to The Witcher 3‘s expansions. For the uninitiated, The Witcher 3‘s expansions earned a great deal of critical acclaim at the time of their release, and provided more content than is found in some full-length video games.
Cyberpunk 2077 has ambitious post-launch plans, but it also looks to provide a worthwhile experience at launch. The game is boasting top-of-the-line graphics, as well as a large cyberpunk open world for players to explore with the trademark CD Projekt Red storytelling to boot. While some may still want to err on the side of caution and wait for Cyberpunk 2077 reviews before deciding whether to purchase it or not, those confident in CD Projekt Red’s ability can take advantage of this Amazon deal to secure their spot in Night City for a slightly lower price than everyone else.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches on April 16, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Amazon Announces The World of Cyberpunk 2077 Book
Cyberpunk 2077 has been getting a tremendous amount of attention lately. With the previous announcement trailer shown at E3 and the vast world to explore people have been in awe and excitement. So no surprises to be had that some merchandise for the game would be made. Amazon has recently released a full-length book on the website for Cyberpunk 2077.
In collaboration with Dark Horse Books and CD Projekt Red the title of the novel is called “The World of Cyberpunk 2077“. The length of the novel will be around 200 pages. The content of the fully-colored, hardcover book will include history, characters, weapons, vehicles and the all-around atmosphere of Cyberpunk 2077. Amazon always has the feature to have a sneak preview of the pages found in the order but in the unlikelihood of events, nothing can be viewed. Not even the cover image itself for The World of Cyberpunk 2077 can be zoomed in.
The World of Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing on April 21st, 2020 on both Hardcover book (39.99) and Kindle application(19.99). The link can be found here.
CD Projekt Red (creators of blockbuster game titles such as The Witcher series) announced Cyberpunk 2077 two years ago at E3 with a small teaser trailer. Since then the title has been rapidly gaining moment in hype and sales. With Keanu Reeves already confirmed as a character and rumored Lady Gaga. There will be no surprise upon launch that it could be the game of the year.
Based in a futuristic setting, Cyberpunk 2077 will allow players to delve into free state California and create their own story. Take on a well-known street gang, go to the night club and party, or pick up mercenary jobs. With multiple characters and a variety of unique paths, Cyberpunk 2077 will be the future of gaming. Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on April 16th, 2020.

Amazon Canada Leaks Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One Controller Ahead Of Official Reveal
Scheduled for a May release
- by Liam Doolan Thu 16th Apr 2020
Update (Fri 17th Apr, 2020 20:50 BST): This has now been officially revealed as part of the Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition Bundle.
Original Story (Thu 16th Apr, 2020 06:45 BST): Cyberpunk 2077 might still be in development, but it appears a themed Xbox One controller based on the anticipated release could be arriving as soon as next month.
According to an apparent leak via Amazon Canada, this new controller will be made available on 4th May, so we should expect a more official announcement before then. A number of photos of it have been uploaded – showing off the gamepad’s cyberpunk aesthetics. There’s definitely a lot of attention to detail and we’re digging the red highlights.
As noted by Windows Central, this is “definitely” an Xbox One controller, as there’s no share button on it. You can also tell by the design of the control pad. Here’s the description – revealing it’s based on Johnny Silver hand (aka. Keanu Reeves) – along with another image:
Live the mercenary life with the Xbox Wireless Controller – cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition, featuring a rugged design based on Johnny Silver hand and tech-enhanced insignia. This Xbox Wireless Controller immerses you in a future where technology is the key to survival. Button mapping allows you to customize your controller just the way you like it. Plug in any compatible headset with the 3.5mm stereo headset jack, And with Bluetooth technology, play your favorite games on Windows 10 PCs, tablets, laptops, and mobile devices.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches this September, and CD Projekt Red is confident the game will ship on time. It was also recently confirmed the Xbox Series X version would be released post-launch. Fingers crossed there’s a themed controller based on the new gamepad design as well.

Amazon’s accidentally leaked a ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Xbox One controller
Its battle-worn look will complement any dystopian aesthetic perfectly. Too bad we can’t buy it yet.
Amazon Canada has apparently leaked the first known images of a special edition Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One controller, as first spotted by Hypebeast. The product is listed as “currently unavailable,” with a supposed release date of May 4, 2020, despite its inspiration’s release date being pushed to September 17.
The dual-tone controller is matte black and metallic silver with red button highlights and an overall battle-worn look, complete with scratch marks and various dings. Scratched into the controller’s right side are the words “No Future,” while the left handle sports the game’s Arasaka logo.
Amazon says the controller will help you “live the mercenary life.” It’s based on the game’s Johnny Silverhand character, who’s voiced by Keanu Reeves.
The controller hasn’t actually been announced by Microsoft, so Amazon’s release info could be incorrect. And with Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox Series X well on its way to consumers’ homes, the timing of this release would be strange, to say the least.
Cyberpunk was ahead of its time — CD Projekt Red delayed the much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 back in January, well before everyone else started pushing releases because of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, the developers spoke of extra testing and polishing that needed to be completed before the game’s release.
Series X’s impact — But Cyberpunk 2077 вЂs release delay could very well be a byproduct of the near-completion of both Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles, which should be available for the 2020 holiday season if all goes well. If everyone is buying up the new consoles, who is going to be playing Cyberpunk 2077 with an Xbox One controller?
To be fair, the Xbox Series X will actually be compatible with previous generations’ controllers. So some users will certainly flock to the battle-battered aesthetic of this controller when playing the new game, whether it’s on the One or the Series X.
Amazon’s detailed listing makes it pretty clear this is a real product, but Microsoft hasn’t said anything about it yet. Either way, you can’t pre-order the controller right now — but real life has plenty of dystopian twists and turns to tide us over for the time being.
UPDATE: Tom Warren at The Verge has posted some additional info that suggests Microsoft will be unveiling a Cyberpunk 2077-branded Xbox One X console and controller next week, with another user posting a packshot of the console. Both follow below.
UPDATE: Today (April 17) Microsoft released a YouTube video confirming the limited edition console, which it says will be released in June 2020. Watch the video below.
Cyberpunk 2077 Preorders Now Live With Amazon Prime Discount
By Tanner Dedmon – September 22, 2018 07:23 pm EDT
Preorders for Cyberpunk 2077 are now live through Amazon with the retailer’s offering a Prime discount on the game.
The deal that’s live through Amazon has both the PlayStation 4 version and the Xbox One version listed at $47.99 if you log into an Amazon Prime account, a 20 percent discount compared to the normal $59.99 price tag for the new game. You’ll notice that there’s a release date listed for the game that has it coming out on December 28, 2018, but that’s just a placeholder date and isn’t when you should expect the game. This is also for the physical version of the game and not the digital edition, so you might end up waiting a day or two to get the game if you preorder it this way.
While preordering the games ahead of time through Amazon is a smart way to save more before they’re released, it’s even more important to get this game sooner rather than later if you’re planning on buying it. Amazon recently announced that it was discontinuing the 20 percent discount and will be replacing it with a flat $10 Amazon credit when purchasing “select games.” This change goes into effect on August 28, so preordering the game through Amazon before that while still grant buyers the discount while an order placed after that date will instead use the new system.
“Starting on August 28, Prime members will now get a $10 Amazon credit when pre-ordering select games on Amazon.com,” an email statement said. “This credit can be used on almost anything sold by Amazon.com. This new pre-order benefit is replacing the current discount on physical game pre-orders. All eligible pre-orders placed before August 28 will still receive the 20 percent discount under the existing benefit once the game is released. The exact terms and conditions for this new discount can be found here.”
The details on the new offer don’t explain how the “select games” will be chosen, but it does say that the credit can only be applied to products that are sold by Amazon itself, not third-party distributors that use the retailer. The credit also expires 60 days after you acquire it, so you have to make another purchase within that timeframe to make the most of the deal.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not yet have a release date and is currently in development, but you can download it now through Amazon for 20 percent off.
Note: This is not a sponsored post, but if you purchase one of the awesome products featured above, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. Thank you for your support.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game Announced
CMON and CD Projekt RED have announced a card game called Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game. Their joint work is to become available in sale in 2020, and will allow players to play as Fixers and recruit Cyberpunks.
CD Projekt RED has announced that it has established cooperation with CMON, a board games specialist, whose portfolio includes God of War: The Card Game announced in April. The result of this cooperation will be a card game called Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game, which will be available for sale in 2020.
The game will allow us to play as Fixers, or information brokers known as masterminds of Night City, who are perfectly familiar with the situation on the streets of the metropolis. The devs promise that for the purposes of the game they have prepared an innovative drafting mechanics, which includes the use of a special panel to manage the deck.
During the game we will recruit cyberpunks and send them on various missions, at the same time providing them with the best possible equipment. In exchange for the completion of further tasks we will gain reputation (Street Cred). Our subordinates will be able to die at any time, but the best ones who manage to get out of any trouble will become veterans in time and become role models for newer recruits.
Since it is not known when exactly Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game will be available for sale, there is a possibility that it will be before that happens Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED will already have settled into the market. The game is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 16, 2020.
CMON Announces Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game
Card game based on the upcoming sci-fi RPG epic
In the latest news from Gen Con, CMON announced a card game based on the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 video game titled Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game. Developed alongside CD Projekt Red, this marks the first instance of the two companies collaborating on a project. The game “thrusts players into the dark alleyways of Night City, where ruthless gangs clash with corporations in an endless war for money, power, and control.”
Players take the role of Fixers, various people who recruit cyberpunks, arm them, and deploy them on missions. Because of the game’s drafting system, players must carefully consider their funds and the cards’ various opportunity costs. Successfully completing a mission awards the player with Street Cred. Surviving missions promote living characters to Veterans, allowing them to then mentor greener cyberpunks.
CMON’s Director of Game Design Eric M. Lang commented on the project.
“I’m a huge fan of Cyberpunk and have played it since the first edition. I grew up playing the RPG and have kept up with the franchise through the years. Andrea Chiarvesio and I were beyond thrilled to work on it.””
Rafał Jaki, CD Projekt Red’s Business Development Director, also had words to share regarding the collaboration.
“We have a big board game community at the studio, and we couldn’t be happier to partner up with CMON. We love their games and are very excited to show the world our shared vision for a great card game in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.”
CMON is currently at Gen Con. Stop by the vendor hall, then head to Booth #417. CMON’s blog post regarding their lineup for the convention is available here, and it is worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game will NOT be there. Gen Con is the largest tabletop gaming convention in North America. It is held annually in Indianapolis and this year runs from August 1-4. Stay tuned to TechRaptor for plenty from the show floor in the coming week!
Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game Announced
Cyberpunk is getting a getting a drafting game set in the world of 2077.
Today tabletop game developer CMON announced Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game, an upcoming card game based in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
Afterlife is a card drafting game that puts players in the role of Fixers, who are people in the Cyberpunk universe that hire cyberpunks (like the 2077 video game’s main character) to do jobs for them. You’ll draft cards to help you complete missions, which then raises your Street Cred until you eventually win the game.
The box for Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game.
According to its announcement post, Afterlife is a colloboration between CMON and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED. It is also designed by Eric M. Lang, a renowned board game creator known for games like Blood Rage and Bloodborne: The Card Game.
Lang explained that he is “a huge fan of Cyberpunk” and has played the tabletop games from their first iteration. And while we haven’t seen components for it yet past the box above, Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game will be launching sometime in 2020.
For even more tabletop Cyberpunk goodness, check out our impressions of Cyberpunk RED, an RPG that bridges the gap between the original game and Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife Card Game Is Coming Next Year
CD Projekt Red and CMON have combined their might to work on a new card game set in the universe of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife, will launch next year. The game is designed by Eric Lang, designer of the forthcoming Bloodborne boardgame and games such as Rising Sun, and the Song of Ice and Fire tabletop game. Andrea Chiarvesio, the designer of Arcanum, also shares design duties.
In Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game, players become Fixers. Fixers are the databrokers and masterminds in Night City who recruit cyberpunks, equip them with gear, and send them out on missions. But nothing’s free in Night City. Players need to balance between what they want and what they can actually afford. Using an innovative drafting mechanic and special dashboard, players must decide which cards they want to buy, and which to sacrifice for funds in order to purchase new ones.
The game will have a card system. Successful missions raise your Street Cred, with surviving team members ranking up and becoming Veterans. And exactly release date and price point are unknown, but CMON has a lot of experience in this area as they also handled design and production duties for the Bloodborne card game.
It appears to be a pairing that makes a lot of sense, the announcement details Lang’s love of the Cyberpunk universe that the game is based on, while CD Projekt Red appears to have a strong love of board and card games running through the studio. As a huge fan of board and card games myself, this is excellent news for fans like me.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game will be released in 2020.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife Is Being Made By Bloodborne Card Game Creator
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a companion card game, which will be made by the creator of the Bloodborne card game.
The highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a companion card game, which will be made by the creator of the Bloodborne card game.
One of the biggest tabletop games shows of the year, Gen Con, is gathering steam for its opening day in Indianapolis, Indiana. CD Project Red and Cmon Games have announced a partnership to create a Cyberpunk 2077 card game. CD Project Red is probably best known for The Witcher series, while Cmon games, specifically Designer Eric M. Lang, is best known for adapting Bloodborne into a multiplayer card game. Lang will be working on the new card game, which is called Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game .
Since it was announced in 2012, CD Project Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has become more and more popular with each new trailer. The game is set in the same universe as the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG and attempts to adapt the gameplay into a triple-A video game.
In Afterlife, players take on the role of Fixers. In the Cyberpunk universe, Fixers act as masterminds and quest givers for each character (the Cyberpunks). So, in Afterlife, players will be able to step back from the action and take on a more strategic role by carefully managing resources.
In contrast to Afterlife , Cmon Game’s Bloodborne card game is a more direct adaptation of the video game. Players take on the role of a Hunter, just like the player’s character in the original, and must make their way through a dungeon by defeating monsters. Bloodborne: The Card Game also captures some of the ambiguity of multiplayer action.
In the original Bloodborne, players can summon fellow hunters for help. However, when they do this, they can be invaded by aggressive players. Meanwhile, in Bloodborne: The Card Game, players need to cooperate to take down tougher monsters while they compete for resources.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game will be released in 2020.
Cool Mini Or Not At GenCon 2019: CMON’s Biggest Announcements
Cool Mini Or Not, publishers of the hit tie-in Bloodbone: The Board Game brought a lot of exciting news to GenCon 2019.
Cool Mini Or Not, publishers of the hit tie-ins Bloodbone: The Board Game and Bloodborne: The Card Game, brought a lot of exciting news to GenCon 2019 with a series of announcements. One of only a few publishers to actually announce new content this year, CMON is set to be the stand out publishers at the annual convention.
CMON finances virtually all of their games through Kickstarter and has raised a total of $38,112,581 thus far. Bloodborne: The Board Game was one of their biggest success, raising over $4 million from 24k backers and met 2000% of their funding goals. This year, CMON is teasing a new tie-in game, as well as an original IP from one of their most talented creators, and an update to one of the company’s most beloved and best selling titles.
Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife Is All About Street Cred
First up is a board game tie-in to CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. This will be the first collaboration between the studios, but they have promised there will be more to come. Whether than means a physical of Gwent or a Witcher board game is unknown, but both possibilities are certainly exciting.
Designed by CMON’s Director of Game Design Eric M. Lang, (creator of Blood Rage and Duelyst) Afterlife is a game about managing income and building street cred in the rough and tumble Night City. Players will take on the role of a Fixer, equip them with gear, and send them out on missions across the various districts in the game. Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife will be released in 2020, just in time for the April 16th release of Cyberpunk 2077. Unfortunately, don’t expect any Netrunner-type card game in Cyberpunk as the studio has confirmed they are not making one that can be played in the game. Hopefully Afterlife is a fine substitute.
Ankh May Give You A God Complex
Also from Eric M. Lang, Ankh is a game for 2-5 players that lets each person play as a different god in ancient Egypt. Players will compete to become the most powerful god by summoning monsters, building caravans, and converting the most followers in order to win the Ankh: the symbol of life itself.
Ahkh’s art and miniature design will be handled by Adrian Smith and Mike McVey, respectively, and represents the closing of a trilogy of strategy games that the three designers began with Blood Rage and Rising Sun. Ankh has no rng elements to speak of, players will need to rely solely on their wit in the battle to become the most powerful god.
Ankh is planning to launch a Kickstarter for the game before the end of the year, and it’s sure to be a big success. Rising Sun, the team’s previous game, raised $4.2 million from 30k backers on a goal of just $300,000 last year.
Zombicide 2nd Edition Is Refined And Beautifully Updated
One of the publishers biggest hits, Zombicide, is getting the update treatment this year. The new version of the game will include refined rules, but don’t worry if you have a big Zombicide collection, updates will be available.
On top of that, all new components and miniatures will be included in the game, including 6 new child Survivor playable characters. The 2nd edition will be coming soon to Kickstarter, though CMON has yet to nail down precisely when it will be ready to show things off to fans.
Zombicide is a story-driven adventure game with 25 separate-but-interconnected scenarios that form a branching narrative. Players play as a group of survivors while the game mechanics dictate the behaviors of the zombies. Between the base game and it’s three sequels, Prison Break, Rue Morgue, and Black Plague, the Zombicide franchise has raised over $9 million on Kickstarter.
CD Projekt Red Announces Afterlife – A Cyberpunk 2077 Card Game
In a somewhat surprising move, CD Projekt Red has announced ‘Afterlife: The Card Game’; a Cyberpunk 2077 card game spin-off. Of course, the studio does have experience with card games thanks to their work developing Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. However, Afterlife is being developed in collaboration with CMON, an international publisher of board games, and will actually be a physical card game rather than a digital one.
We’re excited to announce Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game, a standalone physical card game created in collaboration with @CMONGames!
What Exactly is Afterlife, the Cyberpunk 2077 Card Game?
Afterlife: The Card Game was announced by CD Projekt Red on social media earlier today. At present, there are few details available about the upcoming game, and it has no firm release date. The studio writes that it will be coming sometime in 2020. However, it’s unclear if they have any plans to align the release with that of Cyberpunk 2077, or whether it’s simply too early for the company to pin down a launch date.
“In the game,” explains CD Projekt Red; “you become Fixers – databrokers and masterminds of Night City. Your job is to recruit cyberpunks, equip them with gear, and send them out on missions. Each successful mission raises your Street Cred, with mission survivors becoming Veterans, imparting their Knowledge and experience to newer recruits. In this chrome-infused world, Street Cred is the only currency that matters.”
Thus far, the studio hasn’t yet released any official images of what the game might look like. However, based on the description, it sounds as though Afterlife will be a substantially different experience to Gwent. Players will reportedly use an “innovative drafting mechanic and special dashboard,” to keep track of an in-game purchasing system, for example; a concept which is far removed from the mechanics of Gwent.
It’s currently unknown when fans might get their first glimpse at Afterlife, but it may not be for a while. This announcement may be intended to avoid any fan disappointment later; there have been more than a few instances in recent memory of major studios revealing that a hyped-up title is actually a card game, to widespread disappointment. Card games certainly have an audience, but CD Projekt Red may be wise to temper expectations early and thus avoid fans’ imaginations running wild.
Take To The Streets Of Night City With CMON’s Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game
We’ve still a little more than half a year until the release of the much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. In our eight months of waiting, our appetites will be whetted by the launch of a new tabletop RPG set in Night City, and also now a new card game as well.
From the creative dovetailing of board game mongul Cool Mini Or Not (CMON) and CD Projekt Red comes Cyberpunk 2077 – Afterlife: The Card Game at Gen Con 2019.
Designed by award-winning board game designer Eric Lang (Zombicide, A Song of Ice & Fire Miniatures Game), this card game puts you in the shoes of a Fixer in Night City. Meaning to say, you’re that NPC hiring cyberpunks such as the game’s main protagonist, V, to do your seedy bidding as you vie for control over Night City.
You’ll be able to equip cyberpunks with various gear, weapons and other upgrades, and send them on missions. Successful missions net you Street Cred, which will upgrade surviving cyberpunks to Veterans, which in turn will grant them further bonuses to newly-recruited cyberpunks to tackle more missions.
