However, there are still a lot of games that most of the fans really want to put it on the Nintendo Switch. Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most requested games for the Nintendo Switch. Rumors suggest that it is really possible for GTA V to be released on Nintendo Switch.

Grand Theft Auto V Might Come In The Nintendo Switch Soon

Fans have been speculating whether GTA V will be released on Nintendo Switch or not. The main reason for this theory is that the Nintendo Switch was confirmed to have big games, such as Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Fans are surprised when The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was announced for the Nintendo Switch, as it requires a high-end PC to run it. The Grand Theft Auto V‘s possibility for Nintendo Switch is not that far to happen, though Rockstar Games has no comment about it yet. At this point of time, fans can only hope that Grand Theft Auto V will happen on the Nintendo Switch, as the other big games of today’s gaming industry are already confirmed for the upcoming console.

What Features Can The Fans Expect If Grand Theft Auto V Was Released For Nintendo Switch?

The online multiplayer mode is one of the most popular features of the Grand Theft Auto V, as it is filled with creativities and hardcore challenges. It is also a great way to communicate to other Grand Theft Auto V players. Fans are hoping that the game will be released for the Nintendo Switch to play the online multiplayer. Rumors also suggest that GTA V might have more features if it is released for the Nintendo Switch.

Grand Theft Auto V is available to play on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild takes up almost half of the Switch’s storage (update)

Maybe consider buying the physical version

Share All sharing options for: Zelda: Breath of the Wild takes up almost half of the Switch’s storage (update)

The Nintendo Switch’s hardware specifications arched some eyebrows when it was revealed that, once again, Nintendo was launching a console with a shrimpy 32 GB of flash memory on board. Now we know what it really means to a user. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild requires 13.4 GB of storage space if it is downloaded to the Nintendo Switch. That is a little under half of the internal capacity of Nintendo’s new console.

That’s if the user is opting for the digital version of the game, of course. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be available on a game card, too. And the Switch’s storage is expandable by microSDHC and microSDXC cards, which are sold in volumes up to 512 GB. But it’s unclear if the Switch dock’s USB port can be used to attach an external hard drive for storage.

Realize also that the Switch’s OS and other code will take up some space on the internal storage, but how much isn’t known.

Again, with a capacity much smaller than the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, the Switch faces its users with the decision to uninstall and reinstall large digital titles they own, or buy physical media editions of large games and save whatever is onboard for smaller downloadable games, title updates and the like. It also means a hidden cost in the form of a SD card unless the user tightly manages the storage.

The Wii U launched in 2012 with configurations carrying 8 GB and 32 GB of internal storage, posing some of the same challenges as the Switch. The Wii U’s capacity is expandable by SD cards and it supports external hard drives of up to 2 TB.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild needs 13 GB of space on the Wii U.

Update: A Nintendo representative told Game Informer that the system can support microSDXC cards up to 2 TB in capacity, except they don’t exist yet. 1 TB cards also aren’t yet on the market; the largest microSD cards available offer 256 GB of storage, but they cost upward of $135.

Global unit sales of Nintendo Switch console 2017-2020

Since its launch on March 3, 2017, the Nintendo Switch has sold over 55 million consoles worldwide. Following the poor sales of its predecessor, the Wii U, the Switch was seen as the new hope for Nintendo in the ongoing battle with other console giants, Xbox and PlayStation. The Switch sets itself apart from its competitors by the fact that it can be used as both a stationary console and a portable device, meaning that gamers can play from the comfort of their own homes or on the go.

Nintendo cashes in on exclusive titles

One of the key reasons for the Switch’s success is undoubtedly the popularity of Nintendo’s first-party titles. Blockbuster series such as The Legend of Zelda, Mario, and Pokémon are all exclusive to Nintendo, meaning that fans can only play their favorite games on Nintendo consoles. Unsurprisingly, these Nintendo exclusive games dominate the list of top selling Switch titles worldwide, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sitting top of the pile.

Can Nintendo keep up with Microsoft and Sony?

Thanks to the success of the Switch, Nintendo has once again been able to stake its claim as one of the big players in the console gaming market. However, Sony can still claim to be king of the consoles, with unit sales of its PlayStation 4 exceeding the 100 million mark in 2019. Microsoft’s contribution, the Xbox One, is lagging some way behind as sales of the consoles are still below 50 million units worldwide. In December 2019, the Nintendo Switch surpassed the Xbox One in terms of lifetime console sales and, with new consoles for both Sony and Microsoft in the pipeline, Nintendo will have top spot firmly in its sights.

How Much is the Grand Theft Auto Franchise Worth?

Grand Theft Auto is a long standing video game series, created by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. First developed and released in 1997, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is a name used to reference how motor vehicle theft takes place in the US. The game allows players to pursue a number of missions, putting gamers into the shoes of criminals to create a number of ambiguous crime sagas; reckless driving, shooting of third persons, battling criminal gangs for territory bringing out action-adventure.

Rockstar’s blockbuster franchise has evolved over the years. It is created based on fictional locales. For example, Grand Theft Auto (1997) is set in London. Today, the game is mainly based on American cities like Vice City, San Andreas and Liberty City representing Miami, the state of California and New York City respectively. Note that the series’ subsequent titles tend to lay emphasis on the fictional locale and its surrounding areas.

    Evolution of the Franchise

    • GTA (1997) – The first in the series, GTA has simple graphics, focusing on criminal activities in Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas.
    • GTA: London 1969 (1999)- Although it played from similar engine as GTA 1997, it had British references; Sid Vacant (Sid Vicious of Sex Pistols and their song Pretty Vacant)
    • GTA: London 1961 (1999) – This expansion pack was released exclusively for PCs, with scenes of London in 1961 and a Briton resembling James Bond.
    • GTA 2 (1999) – It had a number of changes on its graphics and gamers could set day or night mode when playing thanks to the improvements on the game’s lighting system.
    • GTA III (2001) – Saw the introduction of 3D isometric view supported on PS2, making it an instant hit.
    • GTA: Vice City (2002) – Showing scenes of Miami of 1980s, the game had brighter colors with GTA III similar graphics.
    • GTA: San Andreas (2004) – With over 27 million copies sold, this game was Rockstar’s bestselling PS2 game with fictional scenes of; San Andreas (California), Los Santos (Los Angeles) and San Fierro (San Francisco).
    • GTA Advance (2004) – This game faced a number of technical challenges as it was supposed to be part of GTA III, for the GB Advance.
    • GTA: Liberty City Stories (2005) – It came with improved graphics; higher resolution to support variations in weather effects.
    • GTA: Vice City Stories (2006) – It was a prequel to GTA: Vice City but with more colorful environments in the city.
    • GTA IV (2008) – Undoubtedly the biggest leap to the HD era, GTA IV came with more dense interactive features; more realistic character and animation thanks to the Euphoria physics engine.
    • GTA: The Lost and Damned (2009) – Featuring the Lost and Damned motorcycle gang, this release was basically an add-on to GTA IV, downloadable on Xbox Live.
    • GTA: Chinatown Wars (2009) – An interesting installment of all GTAs, it combines old school top down GTA and third person 3D games ever created.
    • GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony (2009)- Featuring a new character, Luiz Lopez, this downloadable add-on for GTA IV, seeking to fulfill a number of nightlife mission around Liberty City.
    • GTA V (2013) – With substantially improved graphics, GTA V allows gamers to switch in between characters at will.
    • GTA V: First Person Mode (2014) – Launched on Xbox 360 and PS3, First Person Mode comes with more powerful consoles, brighter graphics, denser foliage and more detailed textures.

    Financial Success of GTA

The GTA series is currently a powerhouse in the entertainment industry. Rockstar North is seeking to make the game playable in new powerful consoles while improving GTA’s graphics to accommodate the needs of the ever growing list of gamers. As of May 2015, the franchise had launched the latest copy of this series, GTA V, which sold over 52 million copies.

Currently, GTA franchises boasts of selling over 235 million copies of the game series worldwide since its inception in 1997. This number closely follows the first person shooter game series, Call of Duty at 250 million copies. GTA V has shipped over 54 million copies, contributing around 17.5% of all franchise sales. Its predecessor GTA IV (2008) shipped over 25 million copies worldwide.

Rockstar Games intends to launch an online version of GTA V since the studio has continually supported other games in the series through its popular online mode, GTA Online. GTA Online has been growing and it has been predicted that it could be the future of Rockstar’s games having generated over $65 million on its first quarter after being launched. The studio is also working on a new story mode in order to expand its GTA series. It is likely that overall revenues could double, clocking up to $250 million per year, therefore sustaining Rockstar Games for a very long time.

Additionally, GTA 5 has topped in a number of commercial charts as the bestselling game. As at mid-2015, GTA 5 set an extremely high bar for other releases. In just 3 days of its availability, the crime title set the record for the fastest game to reach $1 billion. The franchise has also been voted in a number design awards; for example, in 2006, GTA was ranked among the top 10 designs in the world. Additionally, the GTA has broken a number of records on the Guinness World Records. They include:

    • Most Successful Game on PS2 as at 2008 Gamers Edition- GTA: San Andreas.
    • Largest Voice Cast on a Single Game- GTA: San Andreas.
    • Most Successful Entertainment Launch of All Time- Grand Theft Auto V.

    The GTA franchise boasts of selling a number of merchandise distributed by Rockstar’s official store. They include;

    • T-shirts and Apparel with printed GTA characters like Michael, Trevor and Franklin.
    • Wall posters and Art prints.
    • Claude Action Figure from GTA III.
    • San Andreas Playing cards and poker chips.
    • Grand Theft Auto 3 Kubrick Box Sets.

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. wholly-owns labels Rockstar’s GTA franchise and 2K. As end of the financial year 2015, the firm posted a net worth of $2.59 billion in its financial statement. Take Two is overly dependent on the key management and product development personnel on Grand Theft Auto franchise in order to keep afloat in the video game industry. However, Take Two has sealed a number of lucrative deals with World Wrestling Entertainment in order to develop WWE 2K video game.

    • The furor over the “Adults Only” rating slapped on GTA: San Andreas scared off advergamers eyeing $11.5 billion video-game industry as one of the major emerging advertising media.
    • Television personality Karen Gravano and actress Lindsay Lohan filed separate lawsuits against Rockstar, alleging that characters in the game were based on their likenesses.
    • Target, an Australian department store, pulled the game from their 300 stores following a lawsuit against depictions of violence against women in GTA series.

    So what’s the franchise worth?

Take Two, the holding company for the franchise turned down a $2 billion acquisition from Elecrtronic Arts back in 2013. This is before the more than $1 billion in sales of GTA V. Take Two’s current market valuation is $3.3 billion. If you consider what GTA’s share of profit is for the company it can be estimated that the franchise is worth somewhere in the range of $330 million up to around $600 million. Not bad for one game.

Nintendo Switch: Here are Some Hidden Features Fans Have Found

Nintendo fans have picked apart last week’s Switch reveal trailer to find new evidence of the console’s unconfirmed features and functionality.

Nintendo fans have picked apart last week’s Switch reveal trailer to find new evidence of the console’s unconfirmed features and functionality.

It’s only been a matter of days since Nintendo dropped the first trailer for its next hardware release, but dedicated fans are already hungry for more information. The NX is now officially known as the Switch — and there’s a clear desire for more details about the potentially game-changing system.

Fortunately, Reddit user EveMK89 has taken the time to collect notes on the reveal trailer to see if there’s any more useful information hidden away among the footage. The clip spent plenty of time showing off the console’s various control methods, and it may well have let slip a few secrets in the process.

A post published to the Nintendo Switch subreddit over the weekend shares these findings with the community. There are several buttons that weren’t explained in the trailer itself; for instance, the two inputs to the top edge of each Joy-Con segment in their portable configuration are the system’s start and select buttons — even though one of them looks a lot like a traditional D-Pad.

There are also several functional buttons hidden away on the controller. There’s a detach button used to remove the Joy-Con components from the screen, power and volume controls, and also what looks to be a shoulder input for when a single Joy-Con is being used during multiplayer sessions.

Meanwhile, the back of the Switch in its portable configuration hides a couple of secrets of its own. There seems to be a space to keep a stylus handy, as well as a slot that looks to be the right size and shape to receive an SD card — presumably for game saves and other data storage requirements.

There’s also confirmation that the edge of the portable screen features a headphone jack and a charging port. The dock houses a couple of USB ports, as well as an indicator light that tells players when the system is in TV mode.

Of course, it’s possible that the Switch console seen in the reveal video is an early prototype, and changes could be made ahead of its retail release. We’ve seen this happen in the past, notably in the case of the Nintendo DS that was unveiled at E3 2004, and the system that was released several months later.

Still, this breakdown gives us a bit more information about how the Switch will work in practice. Nintendo’s next big thing is neither a traditional home console or a standard portable, but it seems that the company is doing everything in its power to ensure that the hybrid makes an imapct when it launches next year.

The Nintendo Switch is expected to release in March 2017.

When will Netflix Arrive on the Nintendo Switch? Answer: Soon

While predominantly for games, no device can afford to be one single thing anymore. While games may dominate, there has to be more functionality. Whether that’s apps, browsing, music or something else, there is no room in the market for a one-trick pony. One very requested feature for the Switch has been Netflix. It seems some people just can’t get enough of the streaming service. So will Netflix arrive on the Nintendo Switch? If so, when?

Nintendo has been tight-lipped about the possibility of having Netflix arrive as an app. Netflix have been equally quiet on whether it will feature or not. Fans have been asking for it almost since launch and as the Switch has other apps for other things, it isn’t out of the question to have our favorite streaming service arrive on one of the most popular gaming devices.

    Netflix and Switch

At the time of writing, there is no official comment about if or when Netflix will arrive on the Nintendo Switch. However, a slip by retailer Best Buy may have let the cat out of the bag. The sharp-eyed folks over at Business Insider spotted a listing for a Nintendo Switch with a micoSD card along with an ad for Netflix. While far from confirmation, it is the strongest hint we have had yet that we’ll get it.

The listing reads, “Get access to a world of instant entertainment with this product. Just connect to the Internet and stream movies, listen to music, and access a wide variety of other content.”

Annoyingly, the listing at Best Buy has been removed so we cannot verify this ourselves but the folks at Business Insider got the scoop.

Add to this the fact that Hulu has been available since launch and there is every reason to believe that the Switch will get Netflix at some point soon. You can already access Netflix with the Wii, Wii U and 3DS so it would be madness to not include the exceptionally popular Nintendo Switch into the mix.

It seems Nintendo wanted to concentrate on getting the game aspect of the Switch right first before moving to video.

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America said as much, “Right now, we enable Hulu on the platform, we’ve said that other services will come in due time. For us, we want to make sure that we continue driving the install base for Nintendo Switch, continue to have great games for the platform. In terms of what’s next on the streaming side, you’re gonna have to talk to those individual providers in terms of where they stand and what they are working on.”

    Nintendo Switch Online

Now Nintendo Switch Online is live and running, there is a much higher chance of Netflix happening. Whether you like it or not, you now have to pay for many online aspects of gaming that were once free and while it’s only $19.99 a year, it is still a price you didn’t used to have to pay.

Nintendo Switch Online hasn’t gone down too well. First, lots of features that were once free to use are now behind a $20 paywall. Second, the Switch experience feels like it is missing something if you’re not online. Third, many game elements are now inaccessible unless you pony up the money. Fourth, for now at least, you don’t get a whole lot for your money, although more content is coming.

    Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is easily able to handle video streaming. The Nvidia Tegra X1 is a capable chipset that can output in full HD when docked or 720p when in handheld mode. Gameplay is clear and offers decent graphics for the price. Although not showstopping by any means and not quite the leap forward we had initially hoped for the Switch, once you’re in a game, you don’t lament the poor graphics.

Nintendo has never been about cutting-edge visuals and the Switch is another example of that. Instead, they are all about the simplicity and utility alongside some very cool games. The display is bright, crisp and detailed and copes will with the games released thus far. It will be easily capable of Netflix.

Alongside the visuals is a 2.5 hour battery life and the ability to charge using battery packs. This means Netflix binges are still possible using the Switch whether docked or in handheld mode.

To sum up, we know that Netflix will arrive on the Nintendo Switch at some point but we don’t know when. That Best Buy leak had no date on it but retailers don’t tend to upload pages for too far into the future as too much changes too quickly. With Nintendo Switch Online having had a couple of months to stabilize, I think this holiday season would be a good time to give us Netflix and Switch. Don’t you agree Nintendo?
