Red Dead Redemption 2 Beaver Locations

Rockstar Games’ latest release Red Dead Redemption 2 contains 38 different species of animals for players to track and hunt, with each of them occupying specific territories spread across the in-game map. Finding beaver locations in Red Dead 2 involves the player seeking out a couple of different rivers within the regions of Ambarino, West Elizabeth, and New Hanover, with one specific location in Lemoyne where players can hunt beavers in the early stages of the game.

Beaver Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2

Beavers can be found in multiple areas across the Red Dead Redemption 2 map, in just about every major region save for New Austin to the south. Generally speaking, they hang out around bodies of water like rivers and fords. More specifically, they’re found around the Kamassa River to the east and the Beartooth and Upper Montana Rivers to the west.

Players still in the early stages of the game will be able to find beavers in southern Lemoyne, just a short ride south of Saint Denis. Beavers tend to make their homes in the river inlets between Rhodes and Saint Denis, just off the northern shore of the Lannaheche River, in the eastern end of the area known as Scarlett Meadows.

After exploring farther out into the world, beavers can be spotted near other major rivers. They’re found in the central Kamassa River area around the Elysian Pool in eastern New Hanover, just a short ride west of the Van Horn Trading Post. They’re also found near the Lake Isabella area of western Ambarino, south of Spider Gorge, very close by the far western border of the map.

Circling back south again, beavers will appear in two locations around the Upper Montana River: off the river itself, just a short distance south of Strawberry in central West Elizabeth, as well as around the southern shores of Lake Owanjila.

Players aiming to track down all of the game’s Legendary Animals will also be on the lookout for the Legendary Beaver. This creature can be found due west of the Van Horn Trading Post, south of the Elysian pool on the Kamassa River, in a location just below and between the E and R of the “New Hanover” featured in the in-game map.

Beavers in RDR2 are one of the many types of wildlife you can find in the game. They are peaceful and cute, but you’re gonna need to hunt them for pelts and claws as crafting materials, as well as their meat for food. So, yeah, finding beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2 is well worth your while. If you’re having problems finding beavers in RDR2, our Red Dead Redemption 2 Beaver Locations guide will show you exactly where to find them, as well as the legendary beaver location.

Where to Find Beavers in RDR2?

To find beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2, you have to look for bodies of water that are surrounded with wooded areas. And, of course, not all bodies of water will suffice. More often than not, beavers will appear near rivers, rather than standing bodies of water. The best way to kill them, according to the compendium entry, is the varmint rifle. Below, you’ll find a map of beaver locations in RDR2. We’re also going to list the locations by name to help you more.

Map of RDR2 Beaver Locations (click to enlarge)

The compendium says that you can find beavers along the Kamassa River in Roanoke. This is indeed the case. They commonly spawn on the river banks south of Elysium Pool and Butcher Creek, west of Van Horn Trading Post. They also spawn in the far southeast, on the bank of Lannahechee River. Specifically, you can find beavers on the islands east of Shady Belle, which is east of Bolger Glade and Braithwaite Manor.

RDR2 beavers also spawn on the complete opposite end of the map, in the west of Ambarino. Look for them in the north of Lake Isabelle, Where Spider Gorge and Deadboot Creek flow into the lake. Another location is Lake Owanjila, west of the town of Strawberry. Most commonly, they’ll appear on the east, south, and west shores of the lake. The final location is along the Upper Montana River, southwest of Strawberry.

Where to Find RDR2 Legendary Beaver Location?

To find the Legendary Beaver in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’re gonna have to go way east, in New Hanover. The legendary varmint can be found on the east bank of Kamassa River, south of Elysian pool and Butcher Creek. Just go to the Van Horn Trading Post (where one of the fence vendors are), and head west. You’ll likely have to track it down using clues, like you would the legendary ram or legendary buck. But, we’ll cover that in another guide.

If you end up getting stuck at another point, you might want to check out some of the other guides we have. We’ve written about mysteries like the missing person Gavin, the Rhodes Gunsmith prisoner, the locked door at Valentine doctor. We also have instructional guides that show how to rob stores without getting bounty or where to sell jewelry and gold bars. If it’s collectibles or key items you’re after, we’ve found all the Penny Dreadful comic books, Chick’s treasure map location, or that famous pipe for Dutch. Finally, if you don’t care to explore the map yourself, you could take a look at our Watson’s Cabin and Catfish Jackson’s Homestead locations guides. In the latest Red Dead Online Moonshiners Update you’ll have a chance to find Navy Revolver and Best Shack Locations.

What does the fight with the Beaver look like?

The Beaver will not attack you, but when frightened, it will run away from you. However, he is so slow that you can catch up with him calmly.

Besides shooting bad guys, committing crimes, and bullet (heh) journaling, you’ll spend a ton of your time in Red Dead Redemption 2 hunting. Hunting earns you a bit of money, gets you food to cook, and results in pelts you can use to craft new outfits and gear.

While you’re working on your crafting — either for the Legend of the East satchel or just a snazzy new hat — you’ll need to find a few beavers. The problem with beavers is that there’s only a couple places in the entire world of Red Dead Redemption 2 where they exist. But this guide is here to tell you where to find them.

Rockstar Games via Polygon

Rockstar Games via Polygon

The best (and most reliable) place we’ve found to hunt beavers is the small pond just south of the Elysian Pool and west of Van Horn Trading Post. This is the same location where you can find the Legendary Beaver. There’s a beaver dam and lodge here and, with a little patience, you can consistently find a three-star beaver.

One final reminder: You’ll need to use the Varmint Rifle if you want to get a Perfect Pelt from a beaver.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Beaver Location Guide

Share

Red Dead Redemption 2 features legendary animals who play an important role in crafting useful items for the game. You have to hunt down these legendary animals in RDR2 in order to kill and skin them for their pelts that can be used for crafting. The Legendary Beaver is one such animal that the players can hunt down in Red Dead Redemption 2 and in this guide, we will show you how to kill this cuddly little thing while you are playing RDR2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Beaver Location

To hunt down the legendary beaver, you have to be near a small pond or a river. For us, the legendary beaver was located just southwest of Butcher Creek in the New Hanover region. Head to the dam that is directly west of Van Horn Trading Post to hunt down this legendary animal in RDR2. The other possible locations include:

  • Elysian Pool and west of Van Horn Trading Post
  • Kamassa River in Roanoke on the east side of New Hanover, near Van Horn Trading Post.
  • West banks of the Lannahechee River, on the southeast side of Lemoyne near Saint Denis.
  • Upper Montana River, west of Strawberry in the middle of West Elizabeth.
  • The river along the Spider Gorge which runs into Lake Isabella on the northwest side of the map in Ambarino.

How to Kill the Legendary Beaver

Head to the location for the Legendary Beaver and keep a rifle, repeater or a shotgun with you. Keep High Velocity or Express Bullets for ammunition. Make sure that all your health, stamina and Dead Eye is fully regenerated. Once you are at the location, activate your Eagle Eye skill by L3/LS + R3/RS and look around for anything that will give you an indication for where to find the Beaver.

You will soon find a piece of evidence and you have to look around for more then. Looking around for the pieces of evidence is going to take you straight to the Beaver. Keep your ammo and weapons on point and activate your Dead Eye ability. Try to be subtle while taking the aim so that the Beaver has fewer chances of seeing you. The best place to aim at the Beaver will be its head, heart or lungs.

If you are using a rifle then zoom in for the aim or use a shotgun while activating the Dead Eye ability. The Dead Eye ability is going to save you if the beaver charges at you. Try to be as efficient as you can and it is going to kill the beaver more quickly without it charging at you and possibly killing you.

How to Sell Beaver Pelts

After you have skinned the Legendary Beaver, take it to the Trapper to sell the pelt. You can use it to craft items. You can craft items such as

Legendary Beaver Flop Hat: $22

Recipe: 1x Legendary Beaver Pelt

Legendary Beaver Cavalry Gloves: $18

Recipe: 1x Legendary Beaver Pelt

Beaver Tooth Trinket: $18.25

Recipe: 1x Legendary Beaver Tooth

Effect: Permanently slows down the degeneration for all weapons by 10%.

Where to Find Beavers & Beaver Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2

There are 38 different species to track down in Red Dead Redemption 2, each providing different pelts to use for crafting, as well as sustenance to recover your health. Here’s where to find Beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Each of the animal species in the game typically occupies their own specific areas of the map. As you would expect, Beavers are found near rivers and lakes. There are several hotspots where you can find them, spread across Ambarino, West Elizabeth, and New Hanover.

Note, our recommendation is to use the Varmint Rifle when hunting for these little critters, as it has a high degree of accuracy perfect for taking out smaller, fast-moving targets.

Beaver Locations

If you’re in the early portion of the game, look to the southern Lemoyne area, south of Saint Denis. Specifically, the various river inlets between Rhodes and Saint Denis, just off the northern shore of the Lannaheche River, in the eastern end of the area called Scarlett Meadows.

But once you’re freely exploring further afield, you can find Beaver nests along any major body of water in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Our personal favorite places to hunt Beavers are around the Kamassa River to the east of the map and the Beartooth and Upper Montana Rivers to the west. Look on your map for the area around the Elysian Pool in eastern New Hanover (it’s west of the Van Horn Trading Post).

Other locations:

  • Near the Lake Isabella area of western Ambarino, south of Spider Gorge
  • Central West Elizabeth off the Upper Montana River, south of Strawberry
  • Southern shores of Lake Owanjila

Legendary Beaver

For those on the trail of a legendary Beaver in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll want to head west of the Van Horn Trading Post, south of the Elysian pool on the Kamassa River. As a reference for the exact location, look at the map and head for the spot between the E and R of the “New Hanover.”

As a reward for bagging yourself a Legendary Beaver in Red Dead Redemption 2, you can take the Legendary Pelt to a Fence or a Trapper to be crafted into special gear. Remember to get a clean kill to obtain a perfect pelt.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow Walkthrough

Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow is an Optional Honor Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. This Walkthrough shows how to completeВ the Mission. Playing it is required for the missable В Lending a HandВ trophy.

Quest Giver:В Sadie Adler
Region:В Beaver Hollow Camp
Requirements:В having finishedВ Goodbye, Dear Friend
Reward:В Honor

Gold Medal Requirements:

  • Kill the Sniper in the Barn with a Headshot
  • Secure the Barn without taking Damage
  • Complete within 5 minutes 30 seconds

Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow Starting Location

After getting rid of a recurring enemy in the mission Goodbye, Dear Friend, Sadie wants to cut the remainingВ looseВ end and kill the one responsible for killing her husband and destroying her ranch.
Accept her mission and choose to ride with her together. If you want to ride on your own, you have to get to Hanging Dog Ranch yourself.

After a short cutscene and making clear that a certain feller “belongs to her”, we approach the Ranch and the shootout will start almost immediately.
As with any other large shootout, take cover, check your mini-map for enemies and use Dead Eye to precisely take out your targets.
At one point, a sniper will take position at the top window of the barn – taking him out with a headshot is a requirement for a Gold Medal and generally a good way to stay alive, as he deals quite a lot of damage.

Once the yard seems quiet, it is time to check the houses. Sadie will take the one on the right and we check the barn ahead. Approach it carefully, as there are some enemies lurking in cover on both floors. Taking no damage here is another Gold Medal requirement.

Once the barn is secure, head to the house to check up on Sadie.
The managed fine on her own – as expected – and finishes off the guy she wanted to kill the whole time.

This is likely going to be your last Mission for the Lending a Hand trophy – congrats!

This concludes the “Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow”В Story Mission inВ Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2).В For all otherВ StoryВ Missions check out the fullВ Red Dead Redemption 2 Missions Walkthrough.

Red Dead Redemption 2 guide: How to find badgers

Get that three-star badger for a Perfect Badger Pelt

Share All sharing options for: Red Dead Redemption 2 guide: How to find badgers

Finding a three-star badger in Red Dead Redemption 2 can be laborious. It took us hours of experimenting, but we figured out a reliable way to locate badgers.

To get a Perfect Badger Pelt, you need to find a three-star badger. Finding badgers is difficult enough. Finding a ★★★ badger is an exercise in patience and perseverance. In this guide, we’ll show you how to hunt badgers and find a Perfect Badger Pelt (and eventually craft your Legend of the East Satchel for a greatly expanded inventory).

Where to find and hunt badgers

Red Dead Redemption 2’s map icons show a handful of places to find badgers. As far as we can tell, you’re just as likely (read: unlikely) to find a badger in any of those locations. (They spawn rarely, no matter where you are.)

After hunting in multiple locations, we settled on an area in The Heartlands, which is southeast of Valentine in New Hanover. We’ve highlighted it in our maps below.

  • Badger location maps from Red Dead Redemption 2 Rockstar Games via Polygon
  • Badger location maps from Red Dead Redemption 2 Rockstar Games via Polygon

We chose this location because it’s a an open area with gentle sloping hills and sporadic vegetation, which makes finding tiny badgers easier than it would be in heavily vegetated areas.

Here’s how to find and hunt a badger:

  1. Make a camp anywhere in the area. (We chose a location near the Oil Derrick, which you can see in the header image above.)
  2. Sleep until night. (We can’t say for certain that badgers are nocturnal animals, but we sure didn’t find them during the day.)
  3. Mount your horse.
  4. Equip the Varmint Rifle.
  5. Roam the area (highlighted in our maps), using Eagle Eye to search for animals and animal trails.
  6. When you see a badger, chase after it and shoot it. (You don’t need to use Dead Eye. One shot with the regular lock-on will do just fine.)

On average, we found one badger every night. A few in-game hours after the sun came up (so, a few real-world minutes), we headed back to camp and settled in for the day, resuming our hunt the following night.

We found our three-star badger at about 5 a.m., during sunrise.

A few things to keep in mind, since hunting for long periods of time causes your brain to invent weird conspiracies (so we’ve heard):

  • Hunting is easier at night because the effects of Eagle Eye are more pronounced. It’s easier to see glowing animals in the distance, for example.
  • Feel free to gallop around the map. You won’t spook your (potential) prey unless you’re super close, and that’s unlikely.
  • We found plenty of deer, raccoons, skunks, rabbits, pronghorns and rats in the area, so if you’re looking for any of those animals, this is a good place to farm.
  • Badgers are the worst.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Loanshark Locations and Walkthrough

In our Red Dead Redemption 2 Loansharking Guide, we will focus on the mechanics of Loansharking, locations, and walkthrough.

Be sure to follow our RDR2 Loansharking Guide if you wish to find the indebtors quite fast. These are limited time missions after all.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Loansharking Locations

RDR2 is a very nice Wild West simulator, and of course, with crime, comes money. Money is like a staple of every gang ever.

The story is… some people have taken money from the gang of Dutch van Der Linde. Leopold Strauss, a fellow member of your gang, will ask you to ‘encourage’ debtors to pay up the money they own to the gang.

Of course, these missions are entirely optional but they still have a good role in adding simulation to the gameplay of the game. These debtors are marked on the map with a dollar icon. GO GET ‘EM TIGER.

You can get Loansharking missions from Leopold Strauss. He is a fellow gang member.

Loansharking missions are time-sensitive and must be completed before Chapter #6. All Loansharking Missions will disappear after Chapter #6 because [Edit: Removed due to Spoilers]

1. Mr. Wróbel

Conditions: Chapter 2’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – I & II’
Location: West of der Lande’s Camp, in a Small House

You can find Mr. Wróbel living peacefully in his small house in the middle of the marked area on the map. Confront the poor man, and loot his small house to settle this debt. The horse in his stable is also up for grabs.

2. Chick Matthews

Conditions: Chapter 2’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – I & II’
Location: West of Emerald Ranch, Saint Denis

Chick Matthws may be sleeping under a wooden canopy, to the west of Emerald Ranch in Saint Denis.

Before dealing with Chick, head towards a nearby uprooted tree and talk to the man there. Chick will identify you as a member of van der Linde’s gang, and try to get away.

You can chase him. Killing him is an option too but you will lose some honor if you do so. Loot him afterward, and you will find a treasure map that leads to his money.

3. Lilly Millet

Conditions: Chapter 2’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – I & II’
Location: north edge of Emerald Ranch, Saint Denis

Lilly Millet can be usually found in the northern edge of Emerald Ranch, sitting on a bench by the house. Confront her and you will have to fight Cooper. Knock Cooper out and loot him to retrieve your money. Be sure no one witnesses your crimes.

4. Thomas Downes

Conditions: Chapter 2’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – I & II’
Location: South-west of Valentine

Search for a Thomas Downes NPC in the marked area when you reach it. Talk to him and choose whatever method seems appropriate. He will cough up money eventually.

5. Gwyn Hughes

Conditions: Chapter 3’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – IV’ or Chapter 4’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – V’
Location: near the gunsmith in Rhodes

Search for a Gwyn Hughes in Rhodes, outside the house in front of the gunsmith. Apparently, Gywn is also a man’s name. Follow the directions and you will eventually find him.

6. Winston Holmes

Conditions: Chapter 3’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – IV’ or Chapter 4’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – V’
Location: In a Camp, North of Strawberry

Winston Holmes will have set up a camp in the mountain heights, just north of Strawberry. Follow him to the cougar’s den. Eventually, you will learn that Winston’s under attack.

Find his dead body afterward and loot it. You will have to defeat the cougar in the area afterward.

7. Algie Davison

Conditions: Chapter 4’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – V’.
Location: South of Braithwate Manor

Algie Davison can be found drinking by the riverbank, south of Braithwate Manor, trying to drown in his misery. Interact with him.

As soon as you notice that he is trying to hand you a box or if his son is pouring you a drink, trigger a battle. Knock him out, search the house and collect the debt.

There are various collectibles here, including the ‘chest’ hidden in the son’s bedroom. That must be some treasure, indeed. This is probably the most important RDR2 Loanshark.

8. J.John Weathers

Conditions: Chapter 6’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – VI & VII’
Location: Near Moonstone Pond

This good sire can be found near the Moonstone Pond. Confront him and eliminate the interlopers who wish to get between you and this gentleman. You can then choose to either absolve the debt or recover it.

9. Arthur Londonderry

Conditions: Chapter 6’s ‘Money Lending and Other Sins – VI & VII’
Location: Small Cabin at Butcher Creek

Head to the entrance of the Annesburg’s mine, question the guard and enter the pit. You will find a foreman there. Talk to him and head towards a small cabin at Butcher Creek.

You will find not Arthur but his poor widow. Do what you must. Return to Strauss afterward.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Legendary Bear – maps, tips Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide and Walkthrough

In Red Dead Redemption 2 you’ll find many legendary animals. One of them is the legendary bear. The legendary bear is found for the first time in one of the main story missions, but you have to defeat it by yourself. During the mission this will not be possible.

Legendary bear location

The bear will move around the area marked on the screen above. In these areas you can look for traces of the bear, as it was previously shown in the main mission – Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego. You can also happen to meet the bear right away without looking for traces of the dangerous animal. Pull out your weapon and kill your opponent right away.

Which weapons are best to hunt the legendary bear?

When you hunt a bear it is worth going with a heavy weapon. A rifle or a shotgun will be the best:

  1. Rifle – from the rifle you can shoot from a long distance, but you have to make some precise shots. It’s best to use Dead Eye, mark your opponent and shoot a few accurate shots.
  2. Shotgun – using a shotgun you have to approach the bear. So you must be careful not to be attacked. However, if you aim correctly, two accurate shots will defeat your opponent and then you’re able to collect your loot.
  3. Double-barrel shotgun – if you want to use a double barreled shotgun you have to use it as a standard shotgun. Get closer to the bear and aim at the bear’s head. However, you must be aware that if you miss the bear will definitely chase you.

How the fight with a bear looks like?

The bear will attack you if you stand in its way and the same would happen if you start shooting at it. You have to decide what you want to do. You can either start running away or continue shooting and probably hit your opponent.

Before you go hunting, however, you must save the game. If the bear grabs you and kills you, you won’t be able to repeat the fight too quickly. You will have to wait until the bear reappears in his lair. The same applies if a terrified animal escapes.

What you can craft from bear’s pelt?

Get to the Trapper and you may craft one of the following:

Legendary Bear Head Hat – you need bear’s pelt and $40,

Legendary Bear Coat: you need bear’s pelt and $28,

Legendary Bear Roper: you need bear’s pelt and $34.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Legendary bear – how to kill it? Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide and Walkthrough

The legendary bear is one of the unique animals that you can hunt in Red Dead Redemption 2. Your first encounter with this animal is during one of the first few story missions in chapter two. However, Arthur will have to defeat the bear alone. On this page you can find information on how to easily kill the legendary bear.

You find this legendary bear during one of the main missions – Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego. Here, Arthur and Hosea embark on a journey to hunt the legendary animal. They track the animal do that but they fail to kill the bear. However, you can decide to hunt the bear yourself.

Save the game before you start hunting. The legendary bear can kill you really fast. What is more, you can’t replay the fight right after your death. You need to wait a bit until the bear reappears in its lair. Create a save to solve this problem.

The bear’s lair is marked on the map. Equip Arthur with a repeater (a better idea) or a shotgun before you get there. Also, you should regenerate all the cores – health, stamina and the Dead Eye bars.

Track the bear in the same way as you did in the aforementioned mission – activate the Eagle Eye, examine the yellow tracks and follow them. The tracks lead towards the mountain.

Don’t be in a hurry, you don’t want to be attacked by the bear prematurely. Use binoculars or a scope attached to your weapon to see the bear before it manages to attack Arthur. The bear can be defeated in two main ways:

  1. Climb the large rocks located on the right – the bear won’t be able to reach Arthur. Then, you have to attack the animal with a rifle.
  2. Approach the bear while holding a shotgun. Activate the Dead Eye when you notice that the bear is charging at Arthur. This is a very risky method.

Regardless of the method, don’t forget to skin the bear. You get a legendary bear skin – you can either sell it or use in crafting.

Red Dead Redemption 2 – Catch the Bear Mission

This guide highlights mission strategies and Gold Medal requirements.

Catch the Bear

The next morning, you and Hosea will start off talking bear catching strategies. He’ll ask you to craft Potent Predator Bait.

After you’ve crafted the bait, you’ll pack up camp. Get back on the horse and follow Hosea closer to the lake. Hosea will talk about his time with Bessie.

Don’t forget to take your rifle from your horses’ storage.

Once you reach the water, you’ll get off the horse and be notified you’re in Legendary Animal territory. Use Eagle Eye by pressing in both sticks to see the start of the trail – in front of a large rock in front of the shore. Use it again and you’ll see the tracks that lead to the right of the rock, approximately northwest.

GOLD MEDAL REQUIREMENTS

You only have 1 minute, 30 seconds to track the bear. Check the map below to see where the tracks lead – the horse is at the starting position, the player is where the tracks lead. It’s mostly north and slightly west of the first clue.

You’ll have to use Eagle Eye to keep the trail going, mostly north, but soon you should find a fish.

Go north from there and you’ll find another clue – bear shit! Hosea will stop by this clue.

Go north again, and you’ll find the end of the trail.

A short cutscene will play, and you’ll have to choose between splitting up, and using bait.

Choose to use the bait, then plant the bait by the boulders up ahead. The minimap will mark the correct area in yellow.

Once you’ve planted the bait, head behind the rocks and hide by crouching. Equip your rifle, then follow Hosea to inspect the bait.

Unfortunately, the bear will rush you. But you should be ready with a rifle.

GOLD MEDAL REQUIREMENTS

Activate Dead Eye as soon as you can, and shoot the bear at least six times to complete a Gold Medal Requirement.

**After scaring the bear away, don’t bother running after it. Check on Hosea. He’ll give you a book with Legendary Animal locations as thanks.

Now, you can choose to immediately show back up at camp with Hosea, or continue tracking the bear – which isn’t part of the main mission, but his first track is right next to you. but be warned, that bear is incredibly strong, and probably out of your league at the moment.
