How to Find Your Lost Hat if You Lose it in Red Dead Redemption 2

Fancy hats are all the rage in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. Everyone from outlaws to shopkeeper are rocking some kind of cap, and if not wearing one just looks odd. It’s very easy though to lose your hat, especially if you’re engaging in some rough and tumble activities. Here’s how to find your hat if you lose it in Red Dead Redemption 2.

When you first lose your hat, simply look on the ground if you have a free second. It shouldn’t be far, and it will be marked on your map with a hat icon. You should see it flashing a bit in white, too. Makes it easier for you to locate it on the ground this way.

Walk on over to it, and press and hold Square if you’re on PS4 or X if you’re on Xbox One to recover it. Easy peasy. Arthur will pick up the hat and put it back on.

You can also swap out your cap in this matter, by the way, if you find another on the ground you’d rather wear.

What about times when, you’re in a mission, and it goes flying off and it’s too dangerous to recover, you might be asking?

You can still return to where you lost it if you want, and it should still be there. But if it’s long gone, don’t fret, there’s another way to easily get your hat.

Head over to your horse and look through the horse’s inventory. Check out the Items section and select the part of the wheel that opens up where there’s a hat icon. You can replace your cap there, right from your horse.

If you somehow don’t have access to your horse to replace your hat or you maybe didn’t save the one you wanted to wear, you’re going to need to go to a wardrobe.

Simply return to one either at camp or in a hotel room, and any hat that you lawfully possess or obtained via an event, will be available for you to put back on from there.

The only hats that are gone forever are the ones you pick up off of dead bodies that can’t be saved.

Finally, if you want to make sure you have easy access to your caps no matter the circumstances, you can keep a stash of three that are available in your horse’s inventory.

Your default hat, Arthur’s Gambler one, is always there. And from your Wardrobe, you can assign up to two more to join it by saving them onto the horse.

From the Wardrobe simply look for the one you want to assign, and then press Square or X to assign it to your steed. If it’s already on that satchel, it will give you the option to remove it instead.

From that point on, when you access your horse’s items, your stash will be available from that menu, provided you’re near your horse.

That does it for how to find your hat if you lose it in Red Dead Redemption 2. For more tips & tricks, be sure to check out our wiki guide. Red Dead Redemption 2: All the latest news

Red Dead Redemption 2 release date

Originally scheduled to launch in Spring 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 will now be coming to PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.

“We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks,” Rockstar said on its website.

It’s a delay we’re not entirely surprised by, but it certainly makes the wait for Red Dead Redemption 2 even more unbearable. Rockstar has said it will be sharing new details in the coming weeks.

Red Dead Redemption 2 trailers

Rockstar Games released the second trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, shining a more detailed light on its utterly gorgeous western adventure.

The main character is a man called Arthur Morgan, a troubled cowboy who has angered groups across the Wild West intent on pursuing him. It seems this will be the driving force of the plot with Arthur befriending unlikely allies on his quest to escape.

Red Dead Redemption 2 looks utterly fantastic, and during the footage, we catch a glimpse of moving trains, intense gunfights and a cheeky bit of cattle rustling, all of which will certainly play a part in the full game.

Trusted Reviews Live Prices

You can check out the previous trailer below:

While the trailer doesn’t reveal as much as we might have hoped, it does give a brief and utterly gorgeous glimpse at the world that awaits us in Red Dead 2.

The sequel once again takes place in the Old West, brimming with cowboys, cattle and shanty towns filled with chaotic bars and bustling general stores. In terms of narrative the trailer is light beyond a single conclusive quote:

“Listen to me. When the time comes, you gotta run and don’t look back. This is over.”

The voice of these words is unknown, but in the trailer it is followed by the visual of seven men on horseback, the same gang found in the game’s reveal artwork.

Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay – How does it look?

The very first trailer for Red Dead 2 was a gorgeous showcase of the open world that failed to provide us with a decent idea of how the game will play. Rockstar is probably just teasing us, with plenty more of the western adventure to be shown over the coming 12 months. Judging by the trailer, the acts of horseriding, bandit shooting and desert exploring are back and better than ever, albeit in a familar form.

Red Dead Redemption 2 may offer up a total of seven playable heroes, and John Marston could well be one of them. The reveal artwork and debut trailer show seven men, who are clearly involved with the core narrative or online components. Either way, it’d be fantastic to have so many characters with their own unique traits and skills at our disposal. We’ll be sure to share more gameplay details here as they come to light.

Red Dead Redemption 2 map – This could be the new Old West

A leak seemed to provide the map for the forthcoming Red Dead 2. The image was posted to NeoGAF before very quickly being taken down, but not before being screengrabbed and shared all over the place.

A closer look at the map reveals Great Plains and multiple Caravan camps as potential locations we’ll be visiting. There are also several islands located among the rivers and large expanses of water; let’s hope the missions centered on these aren’t as tiresome as when John Marsden had to cross ravines to new areas on the map in Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption 2 The Widow of Willard’s Rest Stranger Mission Guide

Share

In Red Dead Redemption 2, The Widow of Willard’s Rest is a Stranger Mission. This RDR2 stranger mission is given by Charlotte Balfour, who is a widow whom Arthur will encounter in Chapters 5 and 6. Arthur then offers her to teach her how to hunt and provide for herself by the end of the stranger mission.

This guide will help you start and complete the Widow of Willard’s Rest Stranger Mission in RDR2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 The Widow of Willard’s Rest

To get this RDR2 stranger mission, you will have to travel north of Annesburg, this will be just right of where the river meets the end of the map.

You will have to track down a rabbit for her if she doesn’t find one, then you will shoot it down and let Charlotte skin the rabbit. On your way back to Charlotte’s, you will be attacked by 2 wolves. You can take them down by using Dead Eye.

Once the wolves are dead, meet Charlotte again as she will have fled when the wolves attacked. Talk to Charlotte to return to her home.

After a few days, you can go meet Charlotte again, who will be trying to use a rifle. This is when Arthur will give her a few tips on how to operate the gun correctly. Charlotte will eventually hit a bottle and be pleased with her progress as now she can take better care of herself.

After this, you will be invited inside for food, which will basically be the rabbit you hunted earlier. Arthur will pass out before leaving due to his disease, and he will wake up on the bed.

You will be left with a letter, in which she will ask you to take some money as she won’t be needing it, and she will also have expressed her gratitude for teaching her how to survive.

You can meet Charlotte one more time at her house a few days later, and this time she will ask you to take anything from her house. This will be the last time you will meet Charlotte Balfour, and she will be dressed well this time. For completing this stranger mission, you can get $125.

RDR2: The Spines of America walkthrough Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide and Walkthrough

The Spines of America is one of the missions available in Red Dead Redemption 2’s second chapter. Arthur has to use Hosea’s help in stealing Bob Crowford’s stagecoach. The theft can be done during day or night.

How to unlock: Speak with Hosea Matthews in Emerald Ranch. You should learn about this mission from one of the gang members.

Walkthrough: Listen to the plan of stealing the stagecoach. After that you have to go to the farm in Carmody Dell. Take out binoculars to scout the area. You now have to make an important decision regarding the time of a day – you can steal the stagecoach during day or night. The variants differ slightly from each other.

The first step is to rob the main living building on the farm. If you chose to act during night then you can get inside immediately (remember to crouch!). If you chose the day option then you have to wait for Hosea to distract the people living on the farm. You have to reach the back door marked in the picture.

Once inside, you must start looking for any containers (wardrobes, chests etc.) and items that are lying in plain sight. Remember to sneak. If you chose the night then you should remember to stay away from sleeping people. You absolutely have to remember to close all drawers and chests – don’t leave any traces!

The pictures above show the most troublesome finding – a Cigarette card that lies next to one of the windows on the ground floor, and a hidden stash in the chimney (inside you can find $150). Try to steal all items in the house.

The second part is to steal the stagecoach. During a night, Hosea will steal the stagecoach and park it in front of the house. As for the day option, what you have to do is to sneak behind the people who are still being distracted by Hosea. Your goal is to reach the barn.

Go back to the ranch, the one on which you have started this mission. Drive the stagecoach into the barn. As a reward, the game unlocks the access to Seamus the black marketer. You can sell him stolen wagons and stagecoaches. Go back with Hosea to the gang hideout or stay on the ranch.

Where to Find the KKK in Red Dead Redemption 2

Yes, you can encounter the KKK in Red Dead Redemption 2. Seeing as RDR2 takes place in 1899, it’s somewhat anachronistic that the Ku Klux Klan is around since the organization with all the silly costumes and fantasy-inspired names that we all know and hate now wasn’t founded until 1915. However, in Red Dead 2, the KKK is alive and kicking, well at least for as long as you allow it to be anyway. There are three possible Klan-related encounters you can find in the game, all with trademark Rockstar humor and the opportunity to send some bigots to the grave.

How to Find the KKK in Red Dead Redemption 2

The KKK rallies are chance encounters that you can find as you explore the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. There are three different encounters that can spawn, each with its own script. To see the Ku Klux Klan rallies in the game, you’ll need to be in the wilderness (meaning outside of town limits). From my experience these only spawn in wooded areas, though it’s possible the encounters could spawn anywhere in the wilderness. Basically, you’ll just want to ride around on trails with a lot of trees nearby and hope it spawns.

However tempting it might be for you to shoot, stab, or blow up any rally you see right off the bat. Each encounter is actually pretty funny, and it’s worth hanging back for a moment to see how they play out.

  • The KKK accepts a new member into their ranks in a big, dumb ceremony.
  • Several KKK members argue because so few people turned out for the rally.
  • A group of KKK members pathetically attempt to stand a cross up.

After you watch the scene, you can kill every KKK member you see. These encounters are one of the few times in Red Dead Redemption 2 you can blast a whole crowd of people without taking a hit to your honor. However, make sure you kill every last one. If one gets away, you can still be reported for murder. I recommend dynamite personally, but it’s your call.

Something New

RDR2’s Man-Made Mutant Is Red Dead Redemption’s Grossest Secret

Red Dead Redemption 2 players can find a grotesque man-made mutant in an abandoned building directly west of the Van Horn Trading Post.

Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 has a lot of shocking and violent moments, but not a lot which makes players downright want to gag. For players who really want to feel their stomachs churn, however, then RDR2’s man-made mutant is one side mission they definitely don’t want to miss out on.

While playing as Arthur Morgan, players have the option to stick to the story missions or to go off on their own and explore the game’s massive open world. There are countless things to do in Red Dead Redemption 2 that can keep players occupied for days on end, such as hunting, fishing, and searching for buried treasure. Many of the most exciting side missions are difficult to discover, however, and some players may think they’ve seen everything before.

Considering how tough this man-made mutant can be to find in Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s not surprising to hear that many players have still yet to unlock this side mission. But given its shock value and overall grossness, this is one RDR2 mission that should be completed as soon as possible.

How To Find The Mutant In RDR2

To find Red Dead Redemption 2’s man-made mutant, players can pull up their map and zoom into New Hanover state. Directly west of the Van Horn Trading Post and near the edge of the water sits a run-down house that looks, at least from the outside, as if it has been completely abandoned.

At first, it appears that players can’t access the building, however Rockstar games are known for their hidden secrets and hard-to-reach locations, and this is no different. According to IGN, players must angle themselves to get to the second-story window, which is above the porch. Use the open window to enter the abandoned home, which players then will quickly discover is not so empty at all.

RDR2’s Man-Made Mutant Explained

As soon as Arthur Morgan enters the room, a deformed body is visible on the opposite wall, which is tied up and has clearly been tortured. The creature appears to have multiple body parts which have been attached from various animals, and includes everything from the face of a pig to bird wings to ram horns.

Arthur will find a letter with the title “Experiment notes.” The letter reads, “The Creature is ready. Parts are currently on ice, prepared for surgery. Any day now…” It’s implied that the mutant creature in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the product of a science experiment gone wrong in what appears to be a Frankenstein-like tragedy. Arthur will describe the discovery in his journal, and it will be marked as one of the many Points of Interest that can be discovered throughout the game.

The man-made mutant is hands-down one of the grossest things to discover in Red Dead Redemption 2, so players should ensure they have a strong stomach before attempting to find this medical abomination.

Red Dead Redemption 2: How To Unlock The Spooky Night Folk Stranger Mission | Chance Encounters Guide

The Night Folk are a rare, spooky group of backwoods killers you might never encounter in your playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2. These dirty in-bred monsters only appear at night in Bayou Nwa, north of Saint Denis, and they haunt the swamps. If you’re not careful at night, these creatures can kill you in an instant. They don’t play fair, so be prepared to use Dead Eye, or this might be your final night in the bayou.

And there’s a unique stranger mission you can unlock that involves these creeps. There are only two unlockable strange missions in RDR2 — the serial killer, and the Night Folk. Instead of finding three hard-to-find clues, this one involves encountering creepy jumpscares in the swamps at night. If you’ve got the stomach for scary stuff, and want to take on the Night Folk head-on, here’s what you need to do.

More Red Dead Redemption 2 guides on Gameranx:

How To Unlock The Spooky Night Folk Stranger Mission | Chance Encounters Guide

To unlock the unique “A Fine Night For It” stranger mission, you’ll first need to experience at least one Nightfolk chance encounter in the Lagras / Lakay swamps area. Go to the Bayou Nwa, and explore the paths outside the main swamp / lake at night between 10PM and 5AM.

You’ll need to experience one of the following encounters:

  • ‘Torch Procession’: Watch for lit torches in the distance.
  • ‘Voices’: You’ll hear a strange voice. Follow it, and you’ll be ambushed by crocodiles.
  • ‘Spooked Horse’: Your horse will be spooked by something unseen in the swamp and kick you off.
  • ‘Stalking Shadows’: You’ll hear a woman wailing for help in the swamp. Approach her and interact, and she’ll lunge at you with a knife. More Night Folk will ambush you.

Complete any of these random encounters, then rest and a Stranger Mission will appear in the swamp.

Approach the old man at his camp, and he’ll slowly lead you to his home. On the way, you’ll find strung-up corpses in disgusting positions. The house is occupied by Night Folk — watch out for enemies wielding melee weapons. They can kill you in a single attack. After clearing the homestead, more Night Folk will attack from the front porch. Wipe them out to complete the quest.

How to save in Red Dead Redemption 2

Time on the frontier is precious.

How do you save in Red Dead Redemption 2? The PC version of Rockstar’s sprawling Western epic is finally here after a year-long delay relative to the console release and there’s nothing that’ll spoil the fun more than by losing hours and hours of progress. And if you don’t know how to save in RDR2, that’s exactly what could happen.

As you may know if you’ve played even a small amount of the console version of the game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an experience that takes its time; just wait until you get to the epilogue. Anyway, while slow trudges on your horse for miles as the sun sets on the American frontier is atmospheric, you don’t want to do it all over again after losing some progress. So, here’s how to save in RDR2.

RDR2: how to save your game

The save game option is a little hidden away, but you can find it by hitting the ‘STORY’ tab on the pause menu. From there there’s a huge place to click on the left of your screen that gives you the option to save your game—you can’t miss it.

That said there are some occasions in the game when you cannot save, such as the very beginning. Just make sure you dig through this part and you’ll be able to save what you’ve done later on. Just make sure you do so before a big event is about to take place in the game, or you’ve gone through a big session without hitting save.

Harry tells you how you should play your PC games, despite being really rather terrible at them. Good luck finding out how he holds down his job, though: He steadfastly refuses to convey information unless it’s in clickable online form.

Unlock Red Dead Redemption 2 Best Sniper Rifles With Max Stats

We are back with our next guide in Best Weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 series and this time around we are going to talk about the Best Sniper Rifles and how to get them in Red Dead Redemption 2. It didn’t take me too long to decide which is the best sniper rifle in RDR2 as there are not many choices, in total Red Dead Redemption 2 features just three sniper rifles.

Best Sniper Rifles In RDR2 And How To Get Them

There are two best sniper rifles that are best – Rolling Block and Carcano. We have discussed them in detail below, check it out.

1: Rolling Block | Best Sniper Rifle In RDR2

The best part is that Rolling Block is customizable, and players can unlock it pretty early in Red Dead Redemption 2. You will be able to buy it from Gunsmith for $187 after Chapter 2 Mission called “The Sheep and the Goats“. Listed below are the stats of Rolling Block – Default Stats vs Max Stats. Please NOTE: Max Stats figure you get after customization & maxed affinity.

Rolling Block Stats – Default

  • Damage: 3.3/4.0
  • Range: 3.3/4.0
  • RoF: 1.2/4.0
  • Reload: 1.5/4.0

Rolling Block Stats – Max

2: Carcano | Best Sniper Rifle In RDR2

Carcano is the second best Sniper Rifle in Red Dead Redemption 2. As you can see in the stats provided below – it has a good rate of fire and reloads speed as compared to the Rolling Block, but it lacks just slightly in the damage section. Furthermore, unlike Rolling Block, Carcano is not available in the early part of the game. You will be able to purchase Carcano from Gunsmith for $190 after “Goodbye, Dear Friend” mission. If you are going for a long range combat then without any thinking go for a Carcano Rifle. It produces great results when used with scopes.

Check out the default and the max stats of Carcano Rifle below.

Default Stats | Carcano Rifle

  • Damage: 3.0 / 4.0
  • Range: 3.3 / 4.0
  • Accuracy: 3.3 / 4.0
  • Fire Rate: 1.5 / 4.0
  • Reload: 2.8 / 4.0

Max Stats | Carcano Rifle

  • Damage: 4.0/4.0
  • Range: 4.0/4.0
  • Accuracy: 4.0/4.0
  • Fire Rate: 1.5/4.0

Castor’s Ridge

This location is a house under construction. The construction site is located a short distance south of the town of Valentine.

  • During your first meeting with the man building a house together with his sons, you will not receive any additional tasks. You can only watch a short cut-scene and learn about the construction of the house. More important is the second visit, during which the family members will exchange fire with bandits. You can help them to eliminate all thugs, which will improve Arthur’s reputation.
  • During the next visit, a large part of the wooden structure of the house will already have been erected. However, Arthur will learn from the head of the family that there is not enough money to complete the construction of the house. You can show a good heart and donate $100 to the man (you will also earn some positive honor points).
  • During one of your next visits, you will find out that your family decided to sell the house to farmers. The man will reimburse Arthur a hundred dollars and will also add another 50 dollars from himself. New residents will appear on this farm after you have progressed to the first part of the game epilogue.
