RDR2: We Loved Once and True walkthrough Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide and Walkthrough

We Loved Once and True is a multi-part mission available in Red Dead Redemption 2’s second chapter. Arthur meets Mary, his old lover. The man also has to search for her brother who joined Chelonia cult.

How to unlock: Read the letter from Mary and meet her in the woman’s house.

Walkthrough: You need to wait until Arthur receives the Letter from Mary. One of the gang members will inform you about that. The letter lies on the chest located next to Arthur’s bed in the camp – the picture above shows the letter.

Go to Mary’s farm – this place is next to Valentine town. Meet with the woman. Promise Mary that you will convince her brother to come home.

Head to the Chelonia cult camp – it is located on top of the hill (follow the narrow path to reach that place). Approach the master and speak with him. This meeting can have two outcomes:

  1. You have convinced the Chelonian master to let Jamie go – Choose the first dialog options: Undecided and Purpose. The master will allow you to speak with the boy.
  2. You haven’t convinced the Chelonia members – Choose more aggressive dialog options. Also, you can decide to strangle the master at the end of the conversation.

Regardless of your choice, Jamie will start running away. Get on your horse and follow him. The chase ends in a scripted place so don’t try to catch Jamie or to use your lasso. Instead, you should avoid hitting any obstacles – Jamie can escape which will fail the mission.

The pursuit ends near the train rails. Jamie aims a revolver at his head – stop him from committing suicide. Gently press the button that allows you to use your weapon (R2 or LT are the default buttons). With Dead Eye active, aim at Jaime’s revolver – see the picture above. The last thing you have to do is to take the boy back to Valentine. Meet with Mary at the train station.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Who is Not without Sin Walkthrough

Who is Not without SinВ is the 12th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2).В This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Who is Not without Sin Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100%В completion.

Who is Not without Sin is unlocked when you completeВ Polite Society, Valentine Style.

Quest Giver: Reverend Swanson
Chapter: 2
Region: New Hanover

  • Win 2 hands of Poker
  • Returned Reverend to camp within 2 minutes 5 seconds

Starting Location: Flatneck Station, New Hanover

Play Poker

In a back room at Flatneck Station, you’ll find Reverend Swanson playing Poker with some disreputable folks. After drunkenly sermonizing for a bit, he will wander off and the players offer you his seat.

  • GOLD MEDAL: Win 2 hands of Poker

You don’t have to win the entire game, just two hands. After which you can exit the game and go looking for the Reverend.

Find Reverend Swanson

Talk to some of the people on the platform to see if they know where Swanson went.

They’ll point you in the right direction, and you’ll find him in the middle of a fight with a large man.

As you knock the man out, you’ll find that your assault has not gone unnoticed. Confront (or shoot) the witness to ensure his silence. When you start making your way back up the hill, you realize that the Reverend is gone again, this time you’ll find him on the railroad tracks going across a bridge.

Save Reverend Swanson

It seems Reverend Swanson has gotten his foot caught between some railroad ties on the bridge. If that’s not bad enough, there’s a train coming straight for you.

You will quickly have to rotate the Left Stick to turn his foot to the correct position using the vibration as your guide. When his foot is placed correctly, you’ll see a prompt to mash the X / A button to help him pull free of the hole, narrowly avoiding a painful death. A cinematic will play, and at its end, Reverend Swanson will pass out cold.

Return Reverend Swanson to Horseshoe Overlook

Pick up Reverend Swanson and toss him on the back of your horse, then run as fast as you can to the camp to complete the mission.

This finishesВ Who is Not without Sin mainВ mission in Red Dead Redemption 2.В NowВ the next questВ The Spines of America starts.

Category: Story Mission

Arthur takes Lenny for a quiet drink in Valentine to help to calm him down after learning of Micah’s arrest in Strawberry.

  • Catch Lenny in the act
  • Don’t get arrested

Prior missions

To begin A Quiet Time you must first complete Paying a Social Call.

Objectives of A Quiet Time

1. Mount your horse / Ride to the Valentine saloon / Go to the bar

Get on your horse and go to the Valentine. Lenny will follow you.

Enter Smithfields Saloon and lean on the bar. You order drinks, and you start talking and drinking with Lenny.

At some point, you’ll be interrupted by a weird guy who’ll mimic you. Get rid of him, preferably in a peaceful way.

You’ll have a few more drinks with Lenny and at some point you’ll notice that Lenny has disappeared somewhere.

2. Find Lenny in the saloon

Before you start looking for Lenny, talk to Tommy, the guy you fought on the street in the Americans at Rest mission. You’ll find him sitting at one of the tables. This is necessary if you want to earn a gold medal. Talk to him four times. Tommy won’t be very talkative, but that’s enough.

You’ll find Lenny on the top floor where he’s playing with a glass. Go up to him to continue drinking.

After a while, you’ll find out that Lenny’s disappeared again. Come downstairs, you’ll find him near the bar.

The fun will be all over the place.

You’ll lose consciousness for a while. When you get it back, you’ll be pissing at the back of the bar.

Go back to the saloon. All the people in the saloon have Lenny’s face.

To complete the next requirement for a gold medal (“Catch Lenny in the act”), go to the top floor (turn left on the half floor and then right at the top of the stairs), find and enter room 1A.

When you leave the room, wander around the saloon a little more. After a while, Lenny will find you by himself and you will start slapping each other. At the end of the day, you’ll end up at the bar, drinking more and more.

You will be harassed again by a strange guy you’ve got rid of once before. This time you’ll go outside and Arthur will start drowning him in a trough for horses. Anyway, at some point the guy will get free and run away.

3. Escape the law

The guy you tried to drown will bring in the officers of the law. They will catch Lenny and they will try to catch you.

You need to get away from them. Run down the alley to the back of the saloon. Watch out for the pillars and the barrel. As soon as you are behind the saloon, turn right, run towards the fence and jump over it.

If you do it correctly, you will wake up away from the city with a giant hangover, and you will pass one of the requirements to earn a gold medal.

If you don’t escape, you both will end up in prison, but you’ll be released for a small fee. Lenny will pay for both of you.

After completing A Quiet Time you will get or will be able to get Blessed are the Meek?.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Paying a Social Call Walkthrough

Paying a Social CallВ is the 10th main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2).В This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives ofВ Paying a Social Call Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100%В completion.

Paying a Social Call is unlocked when you completeВ Polite Society, Valentine Style.

Quest Giver: Kieran
Chapter: 2
Region: New Hanover

  • Silently kill 4 O’Driscolls
  • Get 12 headshots
  • Complete with at least 80% accuracy
  • Complete the mission without taking any health items

Starting Location: Horseshoe Overlook, New Hanover

Follow Kieran’s Directions

After a rather brutal interrogation session, Kieran has revealed the location of Colm O’Driscoll at Six Point Cabin.

Marston carries Kieran on his horse, and he leads Bill Williamson, Marston and you to the O’Driscoll’s hideout.

When you eventually reach the location, you start in hiding with the chance to take out several O’Driscolls silently.

Kill the O’Driscolls

  • GOLD MEDAL: Silently kill 4 O’Driscolls
  • GOLD MEDAL: Get 12 headshots
  • GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 80% accuracy
  • GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items

The requirements for a gold medal on this mission are almost tailor made for a stealthy approach. Stay crouched and approach the first O’Driscoll slowly. If you have throwing knives or a bow, line up for a headshot.

Bill will advance with you towards the next two enemies who are standing side by side, and you can order him to perform a ranged (throwing knife) or knife kill. Line up your shot, to the head and Bill will then take out whichever of the O’Driscolls you don’t.

Keep moving towards the camp, and Bill will spot another guy sitting on a log with his back to you. Indicate to Bill that you’re going to “Take the Lead” and kill him with a throwing knife to the head.

Circle around the camp to the left, and there is another O’Driscoll sitting on a crate that you can approach from the side. Kill him with a throwing knife to the head, and that should be your fourth silent kill, and hopefully your fourth headshot.

Make sure to cut wide around the camp so that the enemies in the center don’t notice you. Keep eliminating enemies around the perimeter for as long as you can before you’re spotted. Once that happens, you’ll have to be very careful. You will need to complete the rest of your headshots, with 80% accuracy. Dead Eye is great for this, ensuring you hit your target and improve your accuracy, and get a headshot if you can paint them there. Stay back and in cover to prevent taking too much damage.

Midway through the fight, there will be a second wave as several O’Driscolls coming back to camp hear the gunshots and engage you from the South. There should be more than enough enemies to get 12 headshots, but if you’re running out of O’Driscolls you can use a weaker gun to ensure that you get multiple head shots on an enemy before it dies.

Search the Cabin

As you enter the cabin, you’ll be knocked down by an O’Driscoll ambush.

Just before he shoots you while you’re down, Kieran saves your life and shoots the gunman.

When you’re back on your feet, you realize that Colm is not here. Just as you’re about to give up and go back to the camp in defeat, Kieran mentions that there is a cash stash to be found inside the cabin’s chimney.

Search the cabin for anything useful that you can salvage in addition to the money. For example, there’s a double-barreled shotgun above the fireplace that’s probably worth taking, if you don’t have one. Once you grab the money in the chimney, the mission will be complete.

Red Dead Redemption 2 | Blessed Are The Meek Walkthrough

Arthur was exceedingly drunk in the last mission A Quiet Time and he almost fainted. Getting back at the woods you will have to save Micah to play the next main mission Blessed are the Meek. For this you have to go to Jail to see Micah who is caught by the sheriff. Go to Strawberry locate the jail.

Blessed Are The Meek Walkthrough

To earn Gold Medal you will have to fulfill multiple requirements. First thing you will have to complete the mission without taking any health items. Second you will need around 15 headshots and finish the mission by 70% accuracy. Last you will have to kill all Lawman in 55 seconds at the time of escaping.

Locate and Speak to Micah

After the cutscene walk right and go to the back of the Jail. You will find a small window where you can talk to Micah. You can help Micah out but it is recommended if you put the disguise. Pull the bandana and hide your mouth so that you won’t get recognized. On the opposite side of the prison window look for the lever with a hook. Connect the hook to the window and pull the lever. This will break the window and Micah will be out. Micah will kill the prisoners who is trying to escape.

Protect Micah

Next you will have to fight with Lawmen’s. During the first wave of fight Micah will run towards house shouting for Skinny. Just follow Micah he will show you the path you need to move on. Shoot the Lawmen’s in your path. Use Dead Eye to lock multiple targets. Once Micah runs into the house, loot the bodies. He will return back with weapons, cross the small bridge on the left of the house for more enemies. Keep walking and shooting down the enemies till you spot your horse.

After mounting the horse two men will attack Micah, shoot them and follow him into the woods. You will keep facing shooters in your way, shoot them to protect Micah. The mission is over and you will also earn a Wanted level. Micah will tell you about Skinny, who house he ran into to get the guns.

The mission ends once you escape. In the final cutscene Micah will thank Arthur and he will say that he will meet Dutch when he is able to make a peace offering. Micah will also give you an Off-hand Holster. You can now carry two side-arms at a single time and you can also dual wield them. The next main mission you can play is The First Shall be Last. To start this mission you will have to meet Javier who is on a cliff on the north of Blackwater. You will find that Sean will be moved to a federal prison and your next plan to save him.

I never want to finish Red Dead Redemption 2

Avoiding the main quest line was my best decision yet

Share All sharing options for: I never want to finish Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2, the latest open-world game from the team at Rockstar Games, is full to bursting with action. As the outlaw Arthur Morgan, players can live out their Western fantasies of robbing trains, taking down outlaw gangs and generally raising all kinds of hell. But it also offers another path, one where “finishing” the game seems like a downright bad idea. So I’ve decided not to.

I’ve been avoiding the main quest line for weeks now, and the game, for its part, doesn’t really seem to mind.

Late last night, after the rest of the family went to bed and while the first big snowstorm of the season hammered the upper Midwest, I booted up Red Dead Redemption 2. There was my Arthur, snoozing out behind the saloon where I’d left him. With a gentle nudge of the thumbstick he stood up, adjusted his hat and dusted himself off. Before long we were back on our horse, Boomer, trotting down the main street and out of town.

The last time we went to camp, a scripted fishing trip turned into a run-in with a pair of Pinkerton detectives. So we’ve simply decided not to go back. For how long, I can’t say.

Riding on, eventually we heard the sound of some new kind of wildlife along the edge of the Dakota River. Pulling out our binoculars, we stopped to study it and sketch it in our journal.

Instead of rushing through this game, I’ve found myself sipping at it like this, languidly. All too often, modern AAA titles enforce a sense of urgency that verges on the manic. Other times they simply layer on additional objectives, like side quests or collectibles, that can begin to feel like a burden. Red Dead Redemption 2, on the other hand, seems content to simply leave us alone to wander its world however we see fit.

More importantly, its systems are elastic enough that with a little effort, I’ve been able to overcome them, carving out space to play the game in my own way. There’s no towers for Arthur to climb that unlock this world piece by piece. Instead, he can roam wherever we want.

The only impediment has been Arthur’s occasional bad behavior. The murders and whatnot. We stopped robbing folks a long time ago. Rather than spend all our cash on upgrades for equipment, we took the last week to pay off our fines at the local post office. Now, so long as we stay out of Blackwater, there are no lawmen or bounty hunters to harass Arthur and me.

Instead, Red Dead Redemption 2 has become an oasis where we peacefully ride alone.

Beyond the edge of the map in Red Dead Redemption 2, things get wild

As we traveled down the eastern shore of the Dakota River, I noticed a rock outcropping that looked familiar. Sure enough, buried inside my inventory was a map that I’d picked up hours before. It took no time at all to amble up a steep slope and uncover a treasure. A dialogue box popped up, alerting me that a side quest had moved forward to the next waypoint. Then the alert faded into the background. The game world was quiet again.

This is not to say that the experience is without its quirks. But there are rules of the road, so to speak.

We’ve learned to wave hello to NPCs whenever we can, to score easy points on the white-hat side of the game’s morality spectrum. We know never to loot the corpses of lawmen or strangers when we stumble upon them. All too often a rival gang will ambush us, forcing our hand. So long as they shoot first, when the smoke clears it’s like nothing happened. That’s our chance to score some quick loot. Then we ride on.

Just the other day, we whistled for our horse only to have it gallop off the cliff above us and fall to its death. No matter. We administered some Horse Reviver, fed Boomer a few carrots, and started off again. Quick fixes like that help to restore the illusion when it fades.

Meanwhile, Arthur and I are in absolutely no hurry to complete our main objectives. Those quests will be there when we need them.

Tonight I think we’ll go squirrel hunting in the valley. The local trapper has a hat that looks warm and dashing, just the thing for the colder weather up north. We’ll need warm clothes before we head back up there to hunt big game. I’ve heard there’s some beautiful elk and, possibly, wild horses to tame.

Arthur and I have so much left to do before we worry about accomplishing anything. It’s an experience that I hope never ends.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide

Red Dead Redemption

Gold Medal Checklist:

  • Get 7 headshots while covering Sadie from the lighthouse
  • After Sadie is captured, reach Abigail and Sadie within 1 minute
  • Complete with at least 70% accuracy
  • Complete the mission without taking any health items

Note: With this being the final Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s best to enjoy this mission without the strains of the Gold Medal unless you’re a completionist. You only need to Gold 70 of the Story Missions for the Trophy/Achievement.

This mission begins automatically following the completion of Our Best Selves and serves as the game’s final Story Mission. Once Arthur and Sadie learn of Abigail being taken by the Pinkertons, they decide to make for Van Horn to stage a rescue. Follow Sadie to the marker while making sure to configure your loadout on your horse during the journey.

Once you reach the lighthouse, head up to the top and Arthur will pull out a scoped rifle to begin covering Sadie. For the Gold Medal, you’ll need to ensure you score at least 7 headshots all the while ensuring that you don’t miss any shots due to the need of having at least 70% accuracy. This is a very difficult task and you’ll want to use Dead Eye to help you line up the headshots.

From Sadie’s starting position, you’ll see two Pinkertons to her right, take aim at one of them and pull the trigger before switching to Dead Eye to finish the second off. The next Pinkerton will come running down the street, this should be an easy target that you shouldn’t need to use Dead Eye before Sadie makes a run to the right and down towards the docks. You’ll find another two Pinkertons in cover at the end here, followed by two snipers on the balconies of the nearby houses to the left, these are good candidates for Dead Eye. You should have the 7 headshots by this point so focus on just killing the remaining Pinkertons rather than aiming for the head and missing.

Once Sadie reaches the building, she’ll be knocked down and Arthur will decide to come to her rescue. You have one minute to get to the building that Sadie and Abigail are in so you’ll need to keep on the move as you make your way down the street. Switch to a rifle or shotgun and only kill the Pinkertons in your direct path, ignore the sniper on the balcony and keep moving. After you kill the mounted Pinkerton, head right and make a run for the door, taking out any Pinkerton that tries to block your path. Once you reach the building, kick the door to trigger a Dead Eye sequence where there’s more than enough time to headshot both Pinkertons. Once you regain control, repeatedly hit the [Circle]/[B] button to attempt to break free until Abigail comes to your rescue.

You’ll now need to cover the girls as they make for the horses, you’ll only need to take out one or two of them before they’re mounted up and Arthur mounts up with Sadie. Switch to a sidearm here and fend off any of your mounted pursuers that get too close. Eventually, you’ll pull over to the side as Arthur urges Abigail and Sadie to escape, leaving Arthur to return to camp and inform Dutch of the information he just learned. During this dream like sequence, hold the [X]/[A] button in as Arthur makes his way back to camp to confront Dutch and Micah.

Following the developments at camp, you’ll find yourself under siege from Pinkertons as the rest of the gang leaves Arthur and John to fend for themselves. Keep to cover and use Dead Eye to kill as many of the Pinkertons as you can until John makes a run for the cave behind you. At this point, ignore everything else and run through the cave with John to the back. You’ll find some ledges to climb and ladders that will take you back out to the surface and your horses.

You’ll still be pursued by Pinkertons during this next sequence but as long as you stick with John, you shouldn’t have to kill too many of them. Eventually you’ll come to a stop by two on the path, activate Dead Eye and headshot both before continuing to follow John. Unfortunately, Arthur’s horse takes a tumble and you have to continue on foot up the hill. Take out the nearby Pinkertons and you’ll be presented with a choice, help John escape or go back for the money. This choice affects how the mission will play out and for the sake of this Gold Medal, choose to help John. Not only will you get a boost in Honor but you’ll also avoid a difficult shootout at the camp which could plummet your accuracy.

Follow John up the ridge and take cover when he does, picking off a few more Pinkertons from this position with the aid of Dead Eye should you have it. Eventually, Arthur and John need to part ways, Arthur knows he’s not long for this world and hands over his hat and satchel to John while he stays to cover him. Focus on the nearby path as three Pinkertons make their way up to you and are easy targets even for the ailing Arthur, Micah however has other plans.

Once Micah and Arthur tussle and fall to the cliff below, the final brawl begins between the two men. Micah is a tough adversary and Arthur’s deteriorating health makes it that much harder. Do not go on the offfensive against Micah, block his blows and counter with a single punch, any more and you’re likely to be caught in a flurry of blows from Micah. You’ll wear him down eventually and Arthur will go for the gun, repeatedly press the [X]/[A] button to attempt to reach it. This will begin the final cinematics of the mission as Chapter 6 comes to a close and Epilogue 1 begins following it.
