A Fisher of Fish (Legendary Fish)

Walkthrough

A Fisher of Fish – Part I

Jeremy Gill has asked if you can catch and post 13 Legendary Fish to him. They are spread around in various fishing spots. Once caught, the Legendary Fish can be mailed from any Post Office.

Each Fish Species has a single legendary specimen, the largest and most difficult to catch of its kind. You will need a special lure to attract a legendary fish.

Your search for Legendary Fish officially begins when you initiate the mission called “A Fisher of Fish“: speak to Jeremy Gill, the man fishing on the pier on the northeast shore of Flat Iron Lake.

He will give you a map showing the location of 13 legendary fish, and ask you to send them to him by mail once you have caught them.

Legendary Fish Map Location

Note: There are two other Legendary Fish not included in this endeavor (for a total of 15): the Legendary Northern Pike, which is caught as part of The Veteran Stranger Mission, and the Legendary Channel Catfish, which is featured in Part II of this mission (see below).

Fishing Tips and Reeling-In Technique

You can use any of the Special Lures to catch legendary fish, but equipping the model adapted to the body of water where you are currently fishing will make it easier to specifically catch the specimen you’re after.

Legendary Fish are much harder to catch than standard fish, and will require long battles. There is, however, an Advanced Reeling-In Technique that will greatly help you to win these contests:

Every time the fish is tired out, don’t simply reel in a normal. Instead, tilt the Left Analog Stick downward to pull your rod up, and then quickly reel in: after a second or two, do this again, pulling up and reeling in. Repeat this as often as you can until the fish resumes struggling and a new cycle begins.

A Fisher of Fish – Part II

Jeremy Gill rides out to Rio Bravo to catch a large catfish and prove he is not a fraud.

As you reach certain milestones in this activity, Gill will provide Rewards: a Lake Lure for the first legendary fish caught, and $45 plus x5 Succulent Fish Meat after catching 10.

Once you catch and mail all 13 species, and after reaching Epilogue 1 of the story, Jeremy will invite you to his shack, and then on a trip to Rio Bravo to try and catch the Legendary Channel Catfish. At the end, you obtain the Special Spinner Lure.

Red Dead Redemption 2 The Iniquities of History Stranger Mission Walkthrough

The Iniquities of History is a Stranger Mission Strand (Side Questline) in Red Dead Redemption 2. This Walkthrough shows how to complete the Stranger Missions.

Quest Giver:В Jeremiah Compson
Region:В Rhodes
Requirements:В finished Chapter 2

The Iniquities of History Starting Location

The Stranger Jeremiah Compson can be met sometime in Chapter 3 on a bench in front of Rhodes’ Train Station. He seems to be homeless and drunk.
He will tell us that he lost everything – his house, valuables, work and honor. The latter two are hard to restore, but Arthur agrees to keep a lookout for his valuables: a watch, a pistol and a ledger.

Part II

Jeremiah’s house is located to the north of us and can be entered from the southern side. His watch will be located on the chimney in the first proper room. Interacting with the picture on the other chimney across will reveal that there is a trapdoor in the room and also introduce a pair of squatters threatening us.

Arthur can either use the provided knife to take out the attackers or also switch to a weapon quickly, using Dead Eye.
Once the threat has been taken care of, pick up the dropped gun, interact with the trapdoor in the middle of the room and head down.
His ledger will be at the end of the basement, sitting on a crate to the right.

Seems like he was involved in Slavery. A quick way to lose ourВ sympathy and pity for him.

Head back and confront him about it. After standing up for his beliefs and rescuing his ledger which Arthur threw into the fire, he will eventually kneel on the floor and the mission will end. Killing him actually increases the honor ranking and feels like the right thing to do.

This concludes the “The Iniquities of History” Stranger Mission inВ Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2).В For all other Stranger Missions check out the fullВ Red Dead Redemption 2В Stranger Missions Walkthrough.

Red Dead Redemption 2: How to Catch Fish Over 16 Lbs

Here is how to get bigger fish in Red Dead Redemption 2, using bait, lures, and the right environmental conditions to get better hauls for camp and for vendors.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of animals to capture and kill. In addition to hunting animals on dry land, players can also look to the water, going fishing for their dinner instead. But catching fish isn’t just good for supplies; they can also be sold for good money. If players can catch a fish over 16lbs they will also unlock a Trophy or Achievement called ‘It was THIS Big.’

While legendary fish are the largest in the game and there is only one legendary fish for each type, players can also catch standard, big fish. Bait is an important part of the process, as certain types of bait are best suited to attracting different sizes of fish. Players can also use different lures to draw bigger fish in.

For example, smaller fish are more attracted by a lower quality bait, such as cobs of corn, cheese, and pieces of bread. This poor quality bait will only get fish such as bluegill and rock bass. For better quality bait, players will need to visit the bait shop in Lagras to pick up crayfish, live crickets, and live worms. Lagras is the only bait shop on the Red Dead Redemption 2 map, but it’s worth traveling to, as this bait can attract bigger fish such as sturgeon, sockeye salmon, and largemouth bass.

While at the Lagras bait shop, players can also pick up lures. There are river lures, lake lures, and swamp lures, with each type of lure corresponding to the types of bodies of water in the game. With lure fishing, players are able to move the lure in the water by rotating the left stick slowly, to convince the fish that the lure is a smaller fish.

To catch bigger fish, players can also go to deeper parts of water. For that, players can either hijack a boat or upgrade the camp and take the camp’s canoe out.

Time of day and weather also have an effect, with early morning and late night fishing being the best times for getting big catches, reflecting real-life fishing strategies. Players will also find the best results when it is raining, though this is much harder to control than the time of day. Best to be prepared just in case the showers suddenly start coming down.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PS4 and Xbox One.

All Legendary Fish Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally out in the wild, and it’s every bit as immersive as we’d hoped it would be. Aside from just spending your time doing the story missions, robbing, and killing people, though, you could also take some time out and go fishing. If you decide to do that, you could also try to catch all the legendary fish in the game. Here’s what you need to know about how to catch all the legendary fish in Red Dead Redemption 2, and where you can find them.

There are a total of 14 legendary fish to be found in Red Dead Redemption 2, and you can check their locations down below.

Where to Find All Legendary Fish

  • Legendary Bluegill: Directly west of Rhodes, at the Flat Iron Lake.
  • Legendary Bullhead Catfish: Western side of Sisika Penitentiary Island.
  • Legendary Chain Pickerel: Northwest of Flatneck Station, at the Dakota River.
  • Legendary Largemouth Bass: Southeast of Armadillo, at the San Luis River.
  • Legendary Large Sturgeon: At the southwestern side of Saint Denis, at the Kamassa River.
  • Legendary Longnose Gar: Southeastern side of Lagras, just north of Lakay.

  • Legendary Sockeye Salmon: Found in Lake Isabella, just north of Mount Hagen.
  • Legendary Steelhead Trout: At the northeastern corner of the map, in the Brandywine Drop north of Annesburg.

There is a map of all the legendary fish locations in Red Dead Redemption 2 you can get for yourself, but it’s a little vague. We’ve included an image of it below, however, to help assist you with our descriptions above should you need the extra hand.

In order to catch all the legendary fish in Red Dead Redemption 2, first you’ll need the appropriate bait. Thankfully, these aren’t too hard to get.

There’s a special bait shop located in Lagras that will sell you all the bait and lures you need. Head over and talk to the shopkeeper, and look out for the special lures. You’ll want to purchase the Special Lake Lure, Special River Lure, and Special Swamp Lure. These are pretty cheap, and if your honor level is high enough, you can get them for below $20.

Whenever you’re out looking for the legendary fish, make sure to equip the correct lure. For instance, catching the legendary bluegill at the Flat Iron Lake will require you to use the Special Lake Lure. These legendary fish are pretty tough, and it’ll likely take you quite a while to reel them in all the way, so be ready for a struggle.

And that’s all you need to know about how to catch the legendary fish in Red Dead Redemption 2. And after you’ve caught all the fish, why not try your hand at hunting down all the legendary animals as well? Be sure to check our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki for more information on the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Fish Locations Map

Home » Red Dead Redemption 2 » Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Fish Locations Map

Legendary fish are unique fish in Red Dead Redemption 2. There’s one specimen of each kind that is the best and biggest, and you’ll need to catch them all for the A Fisher of Fish mission. You can begin this quest by talking to a stranger called Jeremy Gill. He’ll give you a relatively useful map and send you on your merry way. After that, you’ll have to get the special lures, find the fish, catch them and send them to him. Our Red Dead Redemption 2 legendary fish guide will show you how to do all those things.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Fish

There are 13 legendary fish in total. They’re scattered across the map, and you can find them in all kinds of water – rivers, ponds, lakes, swamps, etc. You’ll need special lures in order to catch them, which you can buy from the general stores or special bait shops. Once you catch a legendary fish, you’ll have to carry it as horse cargo – they’re that big. Here’s a list of all the legendary fish in Red Dead Redemption 2:

1. Legendary Sockeye Salmon
2. Legendary Chain Pickerel
3. Legendary Smallmouth Bass
4. Legendary Rock Bass
5. Legendary Redfin Pickerel
6. Legendary Bluegill
7. Legendary Lake Sturgeon
8. Legendary Longnose Gar
9. Legendary Bullhead Catfish
10. Legendary Muskie
11. Legendary Perch
12. Legendary Steelhead Trout
13. Legendary Largemouth Bass

Legendary Fish Locations Red Dead Redemption 2

Although we’re going to give you the locations of all the fish, keep in mind those spots will feature other, lesser fish as well. You probably won’t catch any of these on your first try, but don’t give up. Using the appropriate lures will help you weed out the less important fish and increase the chances of the bigger ones biting. Here’s a map with all their locations, numbered according to the list above:

How to send legendary fish in RDR2?

When you go to the post office to send the fish, the send mail option might be greyed out. In order to send Jeremy the fish, you first have to view his business card – the one he gives you at the start of the quest. Then, make sure the fish is in horse cargo – for some reason, it often doesn’t work if you bring it to the counter yourself. Also, having a high bounty might sometimes block you from using the post office, so either go to an area where you don’t have trouble with the law, or pay off your bounty.

Jeremy Gill Red Dead Redemption 2

If you haven’t still begun the ordeal, you’ll probably want to know how to start A Fisher of Fish mission. To do that, you’ll need to talk to Jeremy Gill, a stranger hanging out at a fishing shack on the shores of New Hanover, west of the border with Lemoyne. Simply talk to him and you’ll get the quest.

If you end up getting stuck at another point, you might want to check out some of the other guides we have. We’ve written about mysteries like the missing person Gavin, the Rhodes Gunsmith prisoner, the locked door at Valentine doctor. We also have instructional guides that show how to rob stores without getting bounty or where to sell jewelry and gold bars. If it’s collectibles or key items you’re after, we’ve found all the Penny Dreadful comic books, Chick’s treasure map location, or that famous pipe for Dutch. Finally, if you don’t care to explore the map yourself, you could take a look at our Watson’s Cabin and Catfish Jackson’s Homestead locations guides. In the latest Red Dead Online Moonshiners Update you’ll have a chance to find Navy Revolver and Best Shack Locations.

Red Dead Redemption 2 – The Veteran Walkthrough

Home » Guides » Red Dead Redemption 2 – The Veteran Walkthrough

Walkthrough Summary

Unlocked: Chapter 6 onward – For this stranger, you will need to head to the west of Annesburg. You will find him against a rock by O’Creagh’s Run. Talk to him, then head to the highlighted area on the map. You will find the man’s horse by the lake. Walk up to the horse and calm it. Once you have placated the horse, lead it back ot the veteran.

24 in-game hours after returning the horse, head during early morning to day time to the veteran’s cabin. Once inside the boat, row to the highlight area and equip your road with the special lure and start fishing. When your companion falls in the water, row to him to help him. Row to the fishing spot again to get the Northern Pike to bite. Pull the rod up when it does and reel gently to successfully fish the northern pike.

24 hours after the fishing experience ends, you can visit Hamish Sinclair once again in his cabin during the day. You will find yourself on the trail of a wolf. Use Eagle Eye to follow the trail. At the end of the path, you will be ambushed by ap ack of wolves.

Use shotguns and Dead Eye to deal with them effectively. Your last encounter with Hamish Sinclair can be triggered 24-hours after dealing with the wolves during the day time. After the cutscene, you will need to go after a legendary boar until its trail leads back to Hamish.

Inspect the dead wolf at the top of the nearby hill. When you hear gunshots, head to the highlighted area to find Hamish again. Shoot the boar multiple times in the head to take it out instantly during the Dead Eye moment. Take the trophy from the animal. You can choose to claim Hamish’s horse right now or take him to a stable to keep it safe to complete this stranger quest.

The Veteran

The Veteran is the title of one of the side missions in Red Dead Redemption 2. In this multi-part task, Arthur befriends Hamish Sinclair, a disabled war veteran. The main character can go fishing with the veteran and embark on several hunting trips together.

Unlocking the mission

You can find the veteran while playing chapter 6 of the story campaign. Explore the area around O’Creagh’s Run west of the town of Annesburg. You’ll find Hamish leaning against a huge boulder and he’ll need help.

Recovering the leg prosthesis.

The prosthesis is carried by the veteran’s horse, Buell. Look for the horse in the direction of a nearby lake. The place where the horse is found is depicted in the screenshot. Get closer to the animal and calm it down enough to be able to lead it. Return with the horse to Hamish.

Catching the legendary fish

Hamish will invite the hero to fish, but you can’t take care of it right away. Wait about one full day. A new mission marker will appear at the lake – it’s the Veteran’s Homestead.

When you reach the hut, knock on the door. Hamish will propose you join him on a fishing trip. Its aim will be to catch a legendary specimen of The Great Tyrant. Climb into the boat and take it to a marked spot on the lake.

Hamish will give you a special type of lure for catching legendary fish from the lakes – Special Lake Lure. Set it as active. During the first attempt to catch the fish, Hamish will have a small accident and fall into the water. Stop fishing and drag him back on board.

Reach a new area on the lake. Only now will you start THE fishing. Catching the legendary Great Tyrant is unfortunately much more difficult than hooking an “ordinary” fish. It’s a much stronger specimen and if you rely on standard activities connected with catching fish with a lure, you’ll have to wrestle with the fish for a very long time.

Fortunately, there is also an alternative method to catch the legendary fish much easier. After you cast the rod and the lure lands in the water, start retrieving the line much faster while waiting for the fish to be caught with the lure. If you are lucky, The Great Tyrant catch the lure after most of the line has been rolled up (see example in picture 1). This will allow you to shorten the time of wrestling with the or even trigger the cut-scene right away.

Return to shore with Hamish to complete the second part of the mission. It is worth mentioning that catching the legendary great tyrant is one of the ways to get the achievement It was THIS big! awarded for catching a sufficiently big fish.

Hunting the she-wolf

Again, you must wait at least one full day for the new mission marker to appear next to the veteran’s hut. This time Hamish will tell you about a she-wolf that appears around his farm. He will decide to hunt her down.

Get on the horse and follow Hamish. After some time you will leave the horses. You can take the initiative and use Eagle Eye to find the wolf’s footprints, or let Hamish track down the animal and simply follow him.

Soon after reaching the edge of the cliff you will get an opportunity to shoot the wolf. It turns out that it was a trap and the heroes will be attacked by several other wolves. Be ready to eliminate them quickly and efficiently, which can, of course, be achieved by Dead Eye.

The biggest wolf will attack last. He will knock Arthur down on the ground. Throw him off the hero and shoot him quickly before he jumps again. As a gift from Hamish, you will receive a good quality wolf skin. Of course, you can also skin other wolves that have taken part in the attack.

Hunting the giant boar

Likewise, wait for about 24 hours. When you reach the veteran’s hut and watch the new cut-scene, you have to go hunting for the huge wild boar that has appeared in the area. Pursue the boar on foot. After it escapes Arthur, use the Eagle Eye to locate its trail. At the same time, Hamish will come with the horses and you will be able to continue the search on horseback.

Follow the boar’s trail. Hamish will soon suggest splitting up. Choose the path leading to the top of the mountain. You must reach the corpse of a wolf and investigate it closely.

After hearing shots, go to the area that the veteran was investigating. On arrival, you will find the dying Hamish. Expect a huge wild boar to attack you. Empty the magazine to make sure the boar dies before it comes close to Arthur.

Interact with the defeated boar to get the trophy. You can also take care of your veteran’s horse. When you place a saddle on it, it will become Arthur’s horse – his statistics are shown in the picture above.

How to Get Legendary Bait in Red Dead Redemption 2

If you ever want to take a break from all the robbing and shooting in Red Dead Redemption 2, you might consider trying to catch some legendary fish instead. Before you can do that, though, first you’ll need to get legendary bait.

Now, they’re not actually called legendary bait in the game, but they’re still special types of lures that you’ll need to get first before you can start catching those mighty fish. Here’s what you need to know about how to get bait to catch the legendary fish in Red Dead Redemption 2.

For starters, here’s a list of all legendary fish you can catch in the game:

  • Largemouth bass
  • Redfin pickerel
  • Rock bass
  • Smallmouth bass
  • Sockeye salmon
  • Chain pickerel
  • Steelhead trout
  • Perch
  • Muskie
  • Longnose gar
  • Bullhead catfish
  • Lake sturgeon
  • Bluegill

As you progress through Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll eventually come across a stranger in the south who will give you a reference map to help you locate all the fish. You can check out a screenshot of the map down below.

However, you can’t just catch these powerful fish with the corn or cheese you’re carrying around. That’s where your legendary bait comes in particularly handy in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Getting Special Lures in Red Dead Redemption 2

There are three types of water bodies in the game: lake, river, and swamp. The legendary fish can all be located in these different biomes, and you’ll need different types of lures to catch them. Thankfully, getting these lures isn’t too difficult. All you need to do is head over to the bait shop in Lagras, and you’ll find the shopkeeper selling all three lures you need: one for each body of water.

You’ll want to buy the Special Lake Lure, the Special River Lure, and the Special Swamp Lure. These will cost you $15 each, and will also increase your chances of catching medium and large-sized fish, so they’re definitely worth the money. Now that you’ve got all the lures you need, you can start catching the legendary fish.

Lures work a little differently from bait in Red Dead Redemption 2. Once you’ve attached it to your rod, cast the line and hold L2 / LT to grip the rod. Next, start rotating the right stick slowly to attract the fish. Once you get a bite, the process is pretty much the same. Hit the R2 / RT button to hook the fish and start reeling it in.

We’ve got a handy fishing guide to answer all of your questions regarding the pastime, too. There’s also a boat you can get to navigate the bodies of water in Red Dead Redemption 2.

And that’s all you need to know about how to get bait to catch the legendary fish in Red Dead Redemption 2. Be sure to check our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki for more information on the game.
